Linda Lawrence had more than 9kg of the class A drug in the boot of her Mitsubishi ASX, which 'would have gone on to cause untold misery on the streets of the UK'. Staffordshire Police officers pulled the 58-year-old over at Norton Canes Motorway Service Station on October 8 last year, as it was suspected drugs would be found inside. During a search of her vehicle, nine blocks of cocaine were found in an open cardboard box in the boot.

Abdullah, an illegal immigrant and convicted paedophile, had threatened to kill her previously, claiming she dishonoured him after converting to Christianity. He attempted to cover up the crime by pouring white spirit on her body and trying to create a fire or explosion in the kitchen, then fled to Liverpool and Glasgow before handing himself in to police, admitting only to being a failed asylum seeker.
Pleaded guilty to murder in February. Judge Michael Chambers QC noted the planned and pre-meditated nature of the murder, motivated by retribution for failure to support immigration appeal. Previous conviction for sexual assault on a girl under 13 in 2013, for which he served 15 months, and suffered from PTSD.

Thomas Grant, 28, met recently-widowed Lucy Clews, 39, on Christmas Eve 2021 and was offered a place to stay at her home in West Chadsmoor, Staffordshire, as he had nowhere else to go. On Christmas Day 2021, he stabbed her multiple times and strangled her in an exceptionally violent attack. He then stole her jewellery, including her wedding ring and a necklace belonging to her late husband, as well as her mobile phone, and sold them to fund his drug addiction. Grant was arrested on December 30, 2021, in Hednesford, initially giving a false name. A knife with both his and Ms Clews' DNA was found at the scene. He initially admitted to the murder in custody but later retracted the statements.

Mahood had sought sanctuary with a neighbour and returned to collect her belongings, but encountered O’Toole again, leading to the stabbing. O’Toole collapsed in the back yard and was pronounced dead at 12.32pm after paramedics arrived. Mahood protested her innocence during arrest, claiming self-defence.

Thomas Moore, 26, of Beaconside, was arrested on April 16, 2023, in Stafford after police stopped and searched a Volkswagen Golf, finding 74 individual wraps of heroin and crack cocaine with a street value of £980. He was charged with possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine, pleaded guilty, and was released on bail. While on bail, he set up a new drugs line and continued supplying illicit substances. On September 25, 2023, he was arrested and charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, and released on bail again. He then set up another drugs line and was arrested on January 15, 2024, following a search of a property in Stafford, where the line was recovered. He was charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and possession of criminal property, and remanded in custody ahead of sentencing.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of being concerned in supplying a controlled drug of class A to another, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (crack cocaine), possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (heroin) and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property. Additional 10 weeks in jail for breaching a suspended sentence order. Judge noted blatant disregard for the law by setting up multiple new drug lines while out on bail.

In June 2024, Kieran Hemming strangled his partner following a row. He followed that up with a number of threatening e-mails. In September 2023, he forced his way inside her home demanding to speak to her, pushed her to the ground before leaving.
Admitted intentional strangulation, assault by beating and harassment – put in fear of violence. Subjected the survivor to a torrent of physical and emotional abuse.
Amy Leigh Clark
Causing or allowing the death of a child *

Amy Leigh Clark, 34, Darcy's mother, allowed the sustained abuse of her five-week-old daughter by her partner Sean Jefferson to continue until it resulted in her death. Emergency services were called on Mother’s Day, 27 March 2022, after Darcy collapsed at her home in Burntwood. She died in hospital two days later from a catastrophic head injury. The investigation revealed repeated assaults, including 47 fractured ribs and fractures to both legs, inflicted on at least three separate occasions. Medical evidence confirmed the injuries were deliberate.
Found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child, and two counts of causing or allowing serious physical harm.

Keavi Illsley, 24, had been drinking before driving her Vauxhall Corsa with Katie Westwood as a passenger in the early hours of October 8, 2022. The car left the road on Bitham Lane, Stretton, crashed through a fence, and hit a tree, resulting in serious injuries to Ms. Westwood, who was later found dead near the scene. Illsley removed Ms. Westwood from the car before being arrested and charged.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by driving without due care and attention while unfit through drink. Detective Chief Inspector Al Lyford offered condolences to the victim's family and highlighted the consequences of drink driving.
