Thomas Moore, 26, of Beaconside, was arrested on April 16, 2023, in Stafford after police stopped and searched a Volkswagen Golf, finding 74 individual wraps of heroin and crack cocaine with a street value of £980. He was charged with possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine, pleaded guilty, and was released on bail. While on bail, he set up a new drugs line and continued supplying illicit substances. On September 25, 2023, he was arrested and charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, and released on bail again. He then set up another drugs line and was arrested on January 15, 2024, following a search of a property in Stafford, where the line was recovered. He was charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and possession of criminal property, and remanded in custody ahead of sentencing.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of being concerned in supplying a controlled drug of class A to another, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (crack cocaine), possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (heroin) and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property. Additional 10 weeks in jail for breaching a suspended sentence order. Judge noted blatant disregard for the law by setting up multiple new drug lines while out on bail.

Amy Leigh Clark, 34, Darcy's mother, allowed the sustained abuse of her five-week-old daughter by her partner Sean Jefferson to continue until it resulted in her death. Emergency services were called on Mother’s Day, 27 March 2022, after Darcy collapsed at her home in Burntwood. She died in hospital two days later from a catastrophic head injury. The investigation revealed repeated assaults, including 47 fractured ribs and fractures to both legs, inflicted on at least three separate occasions. Medical evidence confirmed the injuries were deliberate.
Found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child, and two counts of causing or allowing serious physical harm.

Keavi Illsley, 24, had been drinking before driving her Vauxhall Corsa with Katie Westwood as a passenger in the early hours of October 8, 2022. The car left the road on Bitham Lane, Stretton, crashed through a fence, and hit a tree, resulting in serious injuries to Ms. Westwood, who was later found dead near the scene. Illsley removed Ms. Westwood from the car before being arrested and charged.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by driving without due care and attention while unfit through drink. Detective Chief Inspector Al Lyford offered condolences to the victim's family and highlighted the consequences of drink driving.

Stephen McHugh, intoxicated on cocaine and alcohol, deliberately drove his Volvo S60 into a crowd of pedestrians on Willow Street in Oswestry, Shropshire, at about 2.45am on Sunday October 9, 2022, after an altercation near the Grill Out takeaway. Bystander Rebecca Steer, 22, was crushed underneath the vehicle and died of catastrophic injuries. McHugh, who had no driving licence, was attempting to frighten the group following verbal abuse about his driving. He was arrested on October 10, 2022, in Gobowen, Shropshire.
Admitted manslaughter and assault but was convicted of murder and attempting to wound. Judge commented on his erratic driving, intoxication, and lack of driving licence. Ordered destruction of the vehicle.

On 22 August 2019, after an argument at Mr Chergat's home in Sandon Street, Etruria, Stoke-on-Trent, Martyn stabbed the victim while Street sent threatening text messages. Street and Martyn disposed of the victim's mobile phones in a storm drain at 1.30am, captured on CCTV. Phone and DNA evidence linked them to the crime.
Found guilty following a trial on 5 October. Also pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis, receiving concurrent sentence of 9 months.
Lewis Crofts

Lewis Crofts, 30, of Broadstone, Dorset, stabbed his ex-partner Kimberley Deakin, 29, multiple times to the face, neck, and chest at her home in Leigh Street, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, on 6 November 2020. Police were called by a neighbour just before 4.40pm. Kimberley died just under two hours later at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Witnesses reported a man speeding away in Kimberley’s Vauxhall Corsa, which was located by police in Northampton that evening with Crofts as the sole occupant. There were blood stains on his hands, clothes, and inside the vehicle.
Admitted to killing Kimberley at her home on Leigh Street on 6 November 2020 at an earlier hearing.

Ben Hunt

On 15 May 2019, at about 2pm, Ben Hunt, 32, and a colleague were working at a garage in Speedwall Street, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, when they heard the alarm of an Audi activate outside. A man called Christopher Walters, 25, had picked up a sledgehammer and was causing damage to the Audi. Hunt and his colleague ran after Mr Walters, who was still carrying the hammer. They chased him along Wood Street to a grassy area, some 400 metres from the garage, where they caught up with him. The men took Mr Walters to the ground and restrained him using a neck restraint. A number of people witnessed the incident. Police attended, and body-worn camera footage showed Mr Walters still held in the neck restraint. He was taken to hospital but pronounced dead just after 4pm. The post mortem found the cause of death to be due to compression of the neck, with deep bruising from the left shoulder to the chest, bruising to the nose and face, and abrasions to the arms and hands. Hunt claimed in interview that his reaction was reasonable force used in self-defence.
Pleaded guilty to the offence in an earlier hearing on 5 March. The force used to restrain the victim was excessive and went on for a long time, leading to his death.

Dangerous driving and taking a motor vehicle without consent *

Joshua Daniel Twigg stole a Vauxhall Insignia from the victim's place of work in the Uttoxeter area between 2.30pm and 3pm on 8 February 2021. On 10 February 2021, at about 1.55pm, Staffordshire Police joined a cross-border pursuit initiated by Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire forces after the vehicle was spotted in Nottinghamshire and failed to stop on the M1. The pursuit involved speeds up to 120mph and dangerous driving, continuing through Derbyshire, across the Staffordshire border, along the A50 towards Stoke, then to Draycott-in-the-Moors, Cheadle Road, and ending on Harplow Lane in Cheadle where Twigg was detained while fleeing.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving; found guilty of taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. Ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £156. No extra penalties for driving while disqualified and driving without valid insurance.
Kenneth Andrew Mcdermid

Kenneth Andrew McDermid unlawfully killed 71-year-old Ann Wendy Morse at her home in Tunstall Road, Knypersley, on or around 19 March 2020. McDermid had been introduced to Wendy as a handyman and was carrying out improvement works to her home in the weeks prior to her death. He was at her address on Thursday 19 March 2020 and she was not seen or heard from since that date. Wendy was found dead just after 7pm on Sunday 22 March 2020. McDermid fled to Sweden following the death and was arrested by authorities there on Friday 27 March 2020. CCTV footage, phone data, and witness evidence confirmed his involvement. There was no clear animosity between the two, and the exact instigation of the attack may never be known.
Pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility. Suffered from a complex form of mental illness prior to and at the time of the offence. Known also as Kyle McKenzie.

Sexual grooming and possession of indecent images of children *

Yohann Ramchelawon, a 30-year-old man born in Mauritius, posed as a young Justin Bieber look-alike online using bogus profiles on Instagram, WhatsApp, Skype, and Facebook to groom schoolgirls aged 12 to 17 from Coventry and across the UK, including Manchester, Lanark in Scotland, Liverpool, St Ives, Shoreham-by-Sea, and East Ham in London, as well as abroad. He steered conversations to intimate subjects, requested naked images, and coerced some victims into performing sex acts on webcams by threatening to share the images with their friends and family. Additionally, he was convicted of penetration and sexual assault against a six-year-old girl in Coventry in October 2016. The investigation began after an IP address linked to messages sent to a 12-year-old Manchester girl was traced to a house in Walsall, leading to his arrest on March 6, 2017, in Huddersfield, where hundreds of indecent images were found on his devices.
Convicted of two counts of inciting a 12-year-old girl to engage in sex acts online, eight charges of possessing indecent images of children, two of distributing the images, and penetration and sexual assault against a six-year-old girl.

Jamie Reynolds murdered 17-year-old Georgia Williams at his parents' home in Wellington, Shropshire, on May 26, 2013. He lured her there under the pretense of a photo shoot, strangled her using a noose he had prepared, and watched her die. He then stripped her body, took photographs, dumped her remains in woodland near Wrexham, and went on the run before being arrested in Glasgow. Reynolds had a long-standing obsession with violent pornography and had written graphic stories and scripts detailing the murder in advance. He had prior warnings from police for assaulting another girl in 2008.
Pleaded guilty to murder. Judge stated he posed a grave risk to women and was too dangerous to ever be freed. Described as a scripted, sadistic and sexually-motivated murder.

Maurice Johnson

On February 10, 1991, Maurice Johnson attacked his four-month-old son David Johnson, causing a traumatic head injury that resulted in cerebral palsy and other life-changing conditions. The injuries were non-accidental and included at least three separate skull fractures. David was admitted to hospital on that date and never fully recovered. Maurice was convicted following a trial.

Charges included intentionally touching girls under 13 or 16 sexually without consent, such as touching legs on multiple occasions. He resided in Heath Hayes, Cannock, WS12 2ZG.

Police spotted the car in Lichfield but he failed to stop, later abandoning the vehicle in Burntwood. He was arrested at the victim's address.

Judge Michael Chambers QC noted it was a gross breach of trust with little remorse shown; aggravating feature that children were in pain and distress. Defence stated little could be said to mitigate.

McKenzie Winkle, 18, from Great Wyrley, encouraged young girls online to self-harm and commit sex acts as part of a 'Com group' - online networks where offenders groom and manipulate young people. Winkle pleaded guilty to two counts of encouraging serious self-harm, two counts of attempting to cause/incite a girl aged 13-15 to engage in sexual activity, three counts of making indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child, and one count of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. He was arrested in August 2025 after a search of his home and seizure of devices, with forensic examination revealing the offending. This was the first victimless prosecution of its kind in the Midlands, with no direct victim coming forward.
Pleaded guilty to multiple counts of encouraging self-harm and child sexual offences. Part of a 'Com group' targeting young girls online. Placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

In August 2022, officers from the Major and Organised Crime Team stopped Anderson on Walkmill Lane, Bridgetown, Cannock. They found four deals of crack cocaine and a phone on him. A follow-up search of his home uncovered around 50 more deals of crack and heroin, along with drug scales.

Paul Hodkinson, 50, of Uttoxeter, was spotted by police driving an Audi with two different number plates through Penkridge on August 31 last year. Officers tailed him to a petrol station on the A449 where an item was placed in his boot. The vehicle was stopped on Cannock Road where a stolen double-barrelled 20-bore shotgun was found in the boot, along with cocaine and cannabis on his person. While on bail, he was stopped again on October 16 last year in Uttoxeter, yielding more cocaine, cannabis, and cash. A raid found scales, empty snap seal bags, and traces of white powder.

Robert Murphy
Operating an illegal waste site *

Robert Murphy, 49, of Carver Road, Burton-on-Trent, ran an illegal waste site for 15 months off the A38 at Eggington near Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Between 3 January 2013 and 28 June 2014, he used land belonging to a vulnerable and elderly couple to deposit, store and burn large quantities of mixed waste including metal, wood, electrical items and construction and demolition waste without owning the site or having an environmental permit.
Confiscation Order made requiring payment of £20,793 compensation to the landowner and £10,000 prosecution costs to the Environment Agency. Served additional 12-month default sentence for failure to comply.

Police discovered 42 bags of cocaine inside a car on a Staffordshire street in March. Rufat Ademaj was arrested after the seizure. The 19-year-old pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply the class A drug cocaine, being concerned in the supply of the class A drug cocaine, possession of criminal property, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and driving with no insurance.

On February 25, 2025, Ryan Slater, 34, of Burton, left his house at 5.35am with a knife. He threatened a man waiting for a bus on Horninglow Road, Burton, receiving £5. He then entered a shop on the same road, threatened two workers with the knife and demanded the till, but fled without anything when a shopper entered. Police arrested him after a short foot chase. On January 24, 2026, he entered another shop on Horninglow Road with a knife, demanded the till, tried to open it, but ran off empty-handed.
Admitted two counts of attempted robbery, two counts of possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place, and one count of robbery. Pleaded guilty in court.
Joseph Tinkler
Downloading indecent images of children *

Joseph Tinkler, 24, of Wolverhampton Road, Wedges Mills, Cannock, Staffordshire, downloaded thousands of indecent images and videos of children as young as six being sexually assaulted or raped by adults, including Category A images of girls aged 7-10 being raped. Police raided his home on September 15, 2020, finding images on iPhone, iPad, and computer tower; further raids on April 28, 2021, and November 4, 2021, found more material including computer-generated images and messages with a paedophile about violent rape of children. Also possessed images and videos of sexual abuse of animals.
Pleaded guilty to 11 charges of downloading indecent images of children and possession of images of the sexual abuse of an animal. Subject to indefinite sexual harm prevention order and sex offender registration. Judge described it as one of the most serious cases dealt with.

Jeno Pierre Maka, 21, of Stoke-on-Trent, was part of a group of seven arrested on 19 December 2018 by Staffordshire Police's Child Protection and Exploitation Team. The investigation targeted the abuse of three 13-year-old girls in Burton-upon-Trent from May to September 2018. Trials took place in June 2021 and February 2022. Maka was convicted on two counts of causing or inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity, involving manipulative tactics against the victims. He received a sentence of four and a half years' imprisonment at Stafford Crown Court on 28 July 2022.

Gurwinder Singh

Gurwinder Singh, a 36-year-old man from Walsall, engaged in a prolonged campaign of abuse against a woman, beginning with verbal insults and degradation before escalating to physical assaults and stalking. On 6 May 2024, he forced his way into her address armed with a knife, stabbed her multiple times in the arm, chest, and stomach, leaving her just millimetres from death, then undressed and raped her while continuing to issue death threats. The victim stated she would have died had police not arrived promptly. Singh was arrested and later found guilty at trial. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison at Stafford Crown Court.

Enis Kamberi

Enis Kamberi, 19, was seen in the passenger seat of a car in Tamworth. Officers saw a woman briefly get into the car before leaving and followed it into Warwickshire. When the car stopped, Kamberi got out and tried to flee but his attempt was short-lived. Officers found a hidden compartment in the car containing 18 wraps of cocaine stuffed into a sock alongside £380. Kamberi was arrested and later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of criminal property.
