At around 5.30pm on Sunday 26 September 2021, 31-year-old David James Cowlishaw had been arguing with a woman in her 30’s at her address in the Bridgemary area, when he grabbed a knife and threatened the woman in front of her child. Cowlishaw then stabbed the victim in the side of her left leg with the knife, leaving her with an injury which requires ongoing specialist treatment. Police and ambulance were called, but Cowlishaw gave false details over the phone and left the address before officers arrived. He was arrested the following day and subsequently charged with causing grievous bodily harm, and criminal damage relating to damage he had caused to the front door of the address.

David Wilcock was found with over 1,500 indecent images of children on his computer at his Fraser Road, Gosport address, including category A images (124) of penetration such as rape of toddlers aged 2-6 years, category B (1,256) and category C (171). Images discovered via peer-to-peer software sharing site where others viewed and reported his files. Police attended in November 2017; he immediately admitted ownership. Internet searches showed interest in pre-teens, incest and bestiality.

Police raided the home of Dominic Osborne Robinson, of Midway Road, Colchester, after a tip-off he had been uploading indecent images and talking about abusing youngsters online. Officers seized three phones, a laptop, a tablet and a number of cameras containing more than 1,000 indecent images of children (categories A, B and C) as well as sexualised communications with children. He was arrested the same day at his workplace in Portsmouth on January 28, 2019.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children, two counts of attempting sexual communication with a child and one count of encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence believing it would be committed. Must register as a sex offender for ten years and given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years.

Danny John Richards, 59, of Hayling Island, Hampshire, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting to ten serious sexual offences against two children under the age of two. The investigation began when Hampshire Constabulary's Internet Child Abuse Team received intelligence of indecent images uploaded from an IP address linked to his address on Salterns Lane. On 28 July 2022, officers executed a warrant and seized electronic devices. Forensic examination revealed a cache of indecent images of children, implicating Richards. He was arrested and later charged. On 13 October 2022 at Portsmouth Crown Court, Richards pleaded guilty to charges including rape of a girl under 13, two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration, two counts of assault by touching, three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child, and two counts of taking such photographs. The guilty pleas spared the victims a trial. He was sentenced on 11 November 2022.

On Saturday 10 June 2023, at about 7:40am, Charlie Bedworth was speeding along the B2145 Selsey Road near Hunston, close to Chichester, in an Audi Q5. He failed to see a vehicle ahead indicating to turn right and swerved to avoid it, driving into the path of an oncoming black Kia Picanto, causing a head-on collision. The driver of the Kia, a 53-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was flown to hospital, still requiring treatment and rehabilitation nearly a year later. Bedworth failed a roadside DrugWipe test for cocaine, and a subsequent blood test found 295 micrograms of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood, exceeding the legal limit of 50 micrograms. He initially claimed he had not taken drugs and suggested his drink might have been spiked, but later declined to answer questions about drug use.
Pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving. Also banned from driving for five years. Roadside DrugWipe test positive for cocaine; blood test showed 295 micrograms of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood, nearly six times the legal limit.

Charlie James Jeans, 31, murdered 32-year-old Samantha Murphy in Portsmouth. She was found dead at her home in Wadham Road on 5 June 2025. CCTV, doorbell footage and witness evidence showed Jeans returning to her home before the murder. He later sent a text message saying 'I'm going to prison for a very long time, I love you' and went into hiding for four days. He was arrested and initially denied the charge but changed his plea to guilty on the fifth day of his trial.

On March 9th 2020, officers on patrol in Havant stopped a vehicle of interest in an ongoing drugs supply investigation. Dunning, who was driving, left the vehicle and fled the scene. He was located at his home address shortly afterwards. A search uncovered £112,660 in cash, 154.7g of cocaine, 2575g of ketamine, 1197g of MDMA and 5111g of cannabis, valued at approximately £192,510. Charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of ketamine, being concerned in the supply of ecstasy, being concerned in the supply of a controlled Class B drug and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property.

Shortly after midnight on April 18 2021, at The Hard Interchange in Portsmouth, Christopher Hale and Jordan Lewsley approached two men in their 30s near Gosport ferry port, became confrontational, kicked and punched the 33-year-old man in the head and face, then punched and kicked the second man who intervened, causing serious injuries including a number of broken bones to both victims.

Clare Hall acted as the getaway driver for her husband Matthew Hall and an accomplice known as 'Coatsey' in an armed robbery at BetFred on Eastney Road on 6th June. She waited in a BMW while the two men entered the shop, threatened an employee with a meat cleaver, and stole £3,375 from the safe. The robbery failed when the thieves took a wrong turn and could not locate her car. They were arrested shortly afterwards in Devonshire Square, with DNA evidence linking them to the crime.

On 4 January 2018, a PCSO spotted a black Audi A3 awkwardly reversing into another vehicle on The Firs, Gosport. Police searched the vehicle and found over £40,000 worth of individually wrapped heroin and crack cocaine. Curtis Long was charged with possession with intent to supply. He pleaded guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court on 26 March 2018. On 25 April 2018, he was sentenced to 58 months imprisonment. A forfeiture and destruction order was also issued for the drugs.

Daniel Cross, of Samuel Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO1, raped a girl under the age of 13, attempted rape, two counts of sexual assault, inciting a girl to engage in sex, and possessing three indecent category C images of the girl. The offences left the victim psychologically damaged, struggling with trust, anxiety around men, schooling, and personal life. The victim's mother reported severe physical and mental health impacts and guilt.
Sentenced by Judge Timothy Mousley QC who described him as a groomer with limited insight into his offending. Subject to a sexual harm prevention order for life and must notify police on release. Must serve at least two-thirds of the sentence.

On December 9th last year, Horsted attended Fareham Police Station to make an enquiry, became verbally abusive towards front desk staff, continued to be abusive, and assaulted an officer outside the station. He also pleaded guilty to offences on September 15th 2020 in Paulsgrove, where he made racially abusive comments to a 33-year-old woman and assaulted a 69-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man at Austin Court, Portsmouth.
Pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker, racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress, and two counts of assault by beating. Sentence also reflected breach of a Suspended Sentence Order issued by Portsmouth Crown Court in 2019 for criminal damage and threats with a bladed article.

Anthony James Storr, 32, of Nutfield Place, Portsmouth, committed a number of burglaries across the city in August. On Sunday 8 August a purse containing money and a bank card, which was later used, was taken from an address on Moorings Way. On Saturday 21 August a purse was taken from a salon on Fratton Road. On Wednesday 25 August a wallet containing bank cards and cash was taken from an address on Woodpath, Southsea; the bank card was later used. No-one was injured in the incidents.
Charged with one count of theft, one count of burglary other than dwelling, one count of dwelling burglary and theft, and six counts of fraud by false representation.

Adrian Thompson, 35, of Little Dimocks, Balham, was identified as the main line holder for County Line ‘T’, facilitating the supply of heroin and crack cocaine in Portsmouth. On 15 December 2021, ANPR data tracked his vehicle from London to Portsmouth; officers stopped it upon entry to the city, arresting Thompson and another occupant. Five phones were found, including the ‘T’ line SIM card, 126 individual wraps of cocaine valued between £2,560 and £3,200, and two small packages of cannabis. A search of his home address revealed a large quantity of cash, drug paraphernalia and plastic bags containing razor blades. The investigation was part of Operation Orochi by Hampshire Constabulary and Metropolitan Police.
Pleaded guilty to all offences including being concerned in the supply of heroin, being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply, acquiring/possessing criminal property and possession of cannabis.

Alexander Davies, of Magennis Close, Gosport, Hampshire, downloaded more than 8,000 indecent images of children across three mobile phones, including 507 category A (most serious), 322 category B, and 7,945 category C images. One image depicted an extremely graphic sexual assault on a baby less than one year old. Police raided his home, found images on two phones (one hidden under his bed), arrested him; he denied wrongdoing and claimed he was set up. A third clean phone was returned but he continued downloading and distributing images, exchanging with other offenders.
Admitted two charges of distributing indecent images of children, 12 possession charges and one of having extreme pornography. No previous convictions. Ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years, internet use restrictions for 10 years, and all three phones destroyed. Judge noted the seriousness due to graphic images including assault on a baby.

Alfie Morel, a 24-year-old football coach from Hampshire, sexually abused boys after grooming them through online gaming, Instagram, Snapchat and relentless messages over eight months in 2020 and 2021. He targeted vulnerable and insecure boys, sharing images, moving conversations to Snapchat to delete messages, bribing them with money or Fifa points for sex acts, committing sex acts in their presence, sexually assaulting them, and abusing them in their homes and his car. Concerns were raised by a school and the FA about safeguarding breaches. One victim, aged 12, disclosed the abuse to his mother.
Found guilty of eight offences including attempted rape. Admitted one count of sexual communication with a child. Judge Richard Shepherd noted he had 'ingratiated' himself to the boys, lied, manipulated, coerced, bribed and cajoled them while in a position of trust. Told Morel to 'stop smirking' during sentencing.

Ashley Corbin used £295 in Amazon vouchers and £40 via PayPal to buy footage of girls who had been blackmailed. Officers raided his home in West Downs Close, Fareham in June 2019. They seized his computers and found 130 images and videos, as well as 4,534 images and videos on cloud accounts. In total Corbin had 329 Category A images - the most serious - 604 Category B and 4,990 Category C. Many of the children had been forced to state their names and age on camera.
Recently changed name by deed poll to Kevin Smith. Also given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order after admitting three counts of making indecent images of children.

Officers seized a mobile phone used to sell drugs, £17,000 in cash, a Green Lamborghini Spyder Gallardo convertible car worth approximately £100,000 and a White Mercedes A-Class.

Officers conducted two search warrants at an address on Sackville Street in 2019 in connection with an investigation into the TJ drugs network operating in Portsmouth. The first search uncovered more than £2000 in cash, £1760 worth of cannabis, a significant quantity of crack cocaine and heroin as well as drug paraphernalia. Three phones were seized and analysed, one of which was the deal line for the TJ drugs network. In the second search, a second phone operating as the TJ deal line was discovered. Nicholas was arrested and later charged.

Anthony Plummer abused four girls aged between 9 and 16 across several years, with offences spanning from 1978 to 2009. In 2019, one victim contacted police, prompting three others to come forward, leading to a thorough investigation, Plummer's arrest, and charges. He was convicted of two counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape, two counts of causing/inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity, three counts of assault by penetration, two counts of sexual assault, and two counts of indecent assault.

On 4 January, Antony Agnew and three masked accomplices smashed their way into a Winchester home on Dean Lane, stealing watches, jewellery and clothing worth £10,000. Agnew was also involved in a string of costly break-ins across west and north Hampshire throughout January. He was caught red-handed. He pleaded guilty on 17 May and was sentenced on 25 May.

On September 16 last year, police officers PC Danielle Ruzewicz and PC Nicki Wisdom responded to a call at Portchester seafront where they found Brett Ferre with a head injury. While attempting to restrain him, Ferre trapped PC Ruzewicz's hand under his head, turned, and bit down hard on her arm, causing a 6x3cm tear and significant bleeding. The wound required hospital treatment and left the officer scarred for life.

Brian Hemborough, a convicted sex offender already monitored by police, had his devices seized earlier in 2020 and found to contain a very large quantity of indecent images of children, including moving images, with a sample of nearly 15,000 images taken. Some children were as young as two and in discernible pain. He systematically searched for the images between December 2015 and January 2020, lied to police about having internet-enabled devices, and claimed the images were a perverted 'safety net' to stop himself committing contact offences against children.

These offences took place over a two-year period. He also sent her abusive messages and later messaged her asking her to retract her statement to police.

Fahad Abbas, 39, of Haslemere Road, Southsea, and Benjamin Coates, 38, of Abrams Way, Havant, gained entry to a flat on Twyford Avenue, Portsmouth, between 7.35pm and 8.50pm on Monday 1 November, stealing jewellery worth approximately £2000, £300 in cash and a folding knife.
Previously charged with burglary, remanded into custody. Footwear marks at the scene matched trainers recovered from Coates on arrest. Identified from CCTV footage.
Bertram Way

Bertram Way, a 77-year-old man from Park Gate, was sentenced for a series of sexual offences against a young girl that took place over four years in the 1990s. The abuse began when the victim was aged seven and continued until she was 11, occurring between 1994 and 1999. He admitted to three charges of indecent assault on a girl under 16 and three charges of indecency with the same child. The court heard that Way exploited a position of trust, offering the girl extra pocket money to comply and telling her to keep the incidents secret. The victim only recently disclosed the abuse, prompting the investigation. Upon arrest, Way made full admissions and expressed remorse.

Billy Cooper, a crack cocaine addict, engaged in private conversations on a paedophile chatroom with an undercover officer posing as a 41-year-old woman with access to a three-year-old girl. He confessed a sexual interest in children aged eight to 16, sent sick messages including 'I know it seems bad but I'm so desperate', detailed claimed prior experience with a young girl, and planned to meet at Tesco in Guildford on July 18 but backed out twice. Police raided his home on Hunts Pond Road, Park Gate, Southampton SO31, seizing phone and laptop with 441 indecent images of children (71 category A), and six extreme pornographic images involving animal sex. Seven days after arrest, he sent more messages on the paedophile website. Police found indecent images showing deliberate torture of a young child.
Admitted attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of a child sex offence, 24 charges of making and possessing indecent images, and publishing an obscene article. Sexual harm prevention order limiting internet use for life. Must sign sex offenders' register for life. Crack cocaine addict with potential post-traumatic stress disorder from brain injury.

Billy Fitzearle was involved in a Gosport-based drug gang that supplied heroin and cocaine across South East Hampshire. Police investigations under the Fortress campaign uncovered Class A drugs worth over £150,000, along with cash, cutting agents, and mobile phone evidence of drug dealing dating back to October 2015. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Bradley Hammond, a 22-year-old food delivery driver, visited an 84-year-old woman with dementia at her sheltered housing on May 15, 2015. Instead of delivering food, he took her into her bedroom, exposed himself, and committed an indecent act. The victim was a vulnerable pensioner and Hammond abused a position of trust.
Pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a person with a mental disorder. Must register as a sex offender for seven years.

Calvin Da Fonte, of Sandy Hill Close in Waltham Chase, groomed, manipulated and sexually abused two girls under the age of 16 in the Whiteley, Warsash and Waltham Chase areas between July 2020 and May 2021. He admitted the charges at a hearing on December 7.
Admitted five counts of sexual activity with a child and three counts of making indecent images of children. Sentenced by His Honour Judge Timothy Mousley QC.
Calvin Hutchinson

Calvin Hutchinson was part of a drugs network operating between Croydon and Havant and Waterlooville known as ‘God’, active since November 2018. On 12 May 2020, warrants were executed at his home address in Rigby Close, Croydon, and a barber shop owned by the brothers in Beluah Road, Croydon. Officers seized a mobile phone used to sell drugs, £17,000 in cash, a Green Lamborghini Spyder Gallardo convertible car worth approximately £100,000 and a White Mercedes A-Class.
Previously found guilty of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and possession of criminal property.
Caprice Martine Buddle
Conspiracy to rob, false imprisonment, conspiracy to commit fraud, and possession of a Class A drug *

Caprice Martine Buddle posed as an online acquaintance to lure a man to an address in Waterlooville, Hampshire, on 5 May 2019. Once there, the victim was ambushed by Sean David Perry and another man, and subjected to hours of physical, verbal, and sexual abuse, including being hit with a stool, kicked, and forced to ingest cleaning fluid. The victim was robbed of his phone, wallet, bank cards, and PINs, then blindfolded, driven around, and left at the roadside. Buddle was arrested later that day.
Pleaded not guilty; found guilty by a jury in May 2022. The jury deliberated for less than an hour and a half. Buddle lured the victim online and was complicit in the false imprisonment and robbery.
Bryan Searle

In the early hours of Sunday 23 August last year, 54-year-old Bryan Searle attended a party at an address in the Portsmouth area. Searle, who was drunk at the time, got into a hot tub at the party and sexually assaulted two women. The incident was reported to police later that morning and Searle was arrested the same day.
Admitted two counts of sexual assault and one count of assault by penetration.
Muhib Uddin

Muhib Uddin attacked and raped a 19-year-old woman in an alleyway off of Clarendon Road in Southsea at around 10pm on Saturday, August 29, 2020. The victim did not know her attacker. The 31-year-old, of Newcomen Road, was caught and sentenced.
Pleaded guilty to rape.
