Kevin Smith, formerly known as Ashley Corbin, aged 35, a maintenance manager from West Downs Close, Fareham, Hampshire, purchased sexual abuse footage of girls aged 12 to 16 who had been blackmailed by Abdul Elahi. He paid Elahi £295 in Amazon vouchers and £40 via PayPal on multiple occasions between March and May 2018 for the material, which included 326 videos and images stored in a Dropbox account (43 Category A, 26 Category B, 257 Category C). Additional material was found on his computers and cloud accounts, totaling 329 Category A, 604 Category B, and 4,990 Category C images and videos. Many victims were forced to state their name and age on camera. He was arrested on 28 June 2019 by NCA officers.
Also given a 10 year sexual harm prevention order. Pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.

In February 2016, Kieran Cameron and Michael O’Rourke stabbed a 22-year-old man from Poole around 10 times in the stomach, neck, and back of the head. The attack was a pre-planned assault motivated by a threat from a rival gang, with the intent to kill the victim and blame the rivals. The victim was known to them. Members of the public came to the victim's aid, and he was treated at Poole Hospital.
Serving sentence for attempted murder. Detective Sergeant Jamie Halford commented that violent knife-related crime is unacceptable and the courts came down heavily on such attacks.

At 5:15pm on Tuesday 5 March officers from Portsmouth’s Priority Crime Team spotted two people acting suspiciously on the corner of Britannia Road North, suspected of waiting to purchase class A drugs. Kebba Faye was seen interacting with one of them before entering an address on Talbot Road for a matter of minutes and exiting. Officers tried to stop him in the street; he ran but was arrested. A sock containing 30-40 wraps of suspected class A drugs and £400 in cash were recovered along with a phone.
Found guilty of both offences following a four-day trial.

Lee Comley, a 39-year-old man from Leigh Park in Havant, Hampshire, initiated contact with a fake Facebook profile of a 14-year-old girl named Maya, created by a vigilante group. He quickly asked for bikini photographs before demanding nude images and videos of sexual acts, moving the conversation to WhatsApp. On 1 July 2024, the group confronted Comley and live-streamed the encounter, drawing a crowd of about 100 people who threw objects at police, nearly sparking a riot. He was arrested by Hampshire Constabulary officers.
Pleaded guilty. Judge Michael Bowes KC described Comley's lack of insight into the seriousness of his offending and imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order alongside the custodial sentence.

Lawrence Lewis, a shelf-stacker from Springwood Avenue, Waterlooville, Hampshire, known locally as Father Christmas due to dressing as Santa at Asda in Leigh Park with a white bushy beard, white curly hair and well-built appearance, approached two girls aged eight and 11 in the Wellington pub in Waterlooville between December and January. He offered the younger girl £3 to expose her backside and later £3 again to expose herself. He offered the older girl £4 to expose her underpants. The younger girl told her mother after incidents, leading to police involvement and his arrest.
Pleaded guilty to three charges of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. Sentenced to 10 months for the occasion when he targeted both girls and 12 months consecutive for the second occasion. Banned from dressing as Father Christmas for 10 years. Sexual harm prevention order banning him from speaking to any girl under 16. Must sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years. £100 victim surcharge.

On 7 May 2021, police were called to an incident on Victoria Street, Gosport, involving a man with a knife at around 9.50pm. Joshua Clark, 37, of no fixed abode, was arrested and charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. On 8 October 2020, Clark, along with David Wood and Andrew Mellem, broke into the Hardway Sailing Club and The Jolly Roger pub on Priory Road in Gosport.

John Robert West, aged 42, of Shetland Court, Worthing, was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court on 12 December 2022 to four years and nine months in prison for historical child sex offences. The offences occurred in 2005 in Waterlooville, Hampshire, when West sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl. The victim reported the assault the same year but withdrew due to fear of the court process. In 2019, as an adult, she came forward again, prompting a Hampshire Constabulary investigation. West was charged with one count of sexual activity with a child and one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. He pleaded not guilty and stood trial in August 2022. The jury convicted him on both counts. During sentencing, the judge highlighted West's lack of apology, remorse or regret, and the serious breach of trust involved.

John Sommerville Taylor Horne, of Broadacre Place in Fareham, attacked a woman in her 20s on the footbridge over Western Way close to Fareham train station after she left Slug and Lettuce in the town at around 1am on 19 March. He threatened her before assaulting and raping her on the bridge.
Admitted the charges. Subject to notification requirements for the rest of his life. Sentenced by His Honour Judge Shepherd who commented on the prolonged and sustained course of sexual violence and its impact on the victim and community.

Johnathon Oldland, an office administrator for a Hampshire care firm, brutally abused a child under 14 more than 50 times, repeatedly raping them. He was convicted of two counts of sexual assault on a child under 13 and five counts of rape of a child under 14.

Shortly after midnight on April 18 2021, at The Hard Interchange in Portsmouth, Christopher Hale and Jordan Lewsley approached two men in their 30s near Gosport ferry port, became confrontational, kicked and punched the 33-year-old man in the head and face, then punched and kicked the second man who intervened, causing serious injuries including a number of broken bones to both victims.

On December 13, just after 10:30pm, Jordan Roger, 20, of Magennis Close, burst into the Anchorage flat in Gosport. The 71-year-old pensioner, who struggles to walk, answered a knock to find Roger masked and brandishing a knife. The victim tried to defend himself, raising his arms and falling backwards, suffering a cut to his finger. He kicked Roger, forcing the intruder to flee, smashing the door's glass pane. CCTV led to a quick arrest. A table knife was seized with the victim's DNA. Roger pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Levi Seriki-Walters physically assaulted and raped a woman in her 20s, known to him, in a commercial car park near The Anchorage in Gosport at around 1.40am on 27 August 2020. Witnesses heard her crying for help and found her in a distressed state. He was seen on CCTV chasing her from the scene, and forensic evidence confirmed the rape.
Denied the offence and went to trial. Jury found him guilty after deliberating for approximately two and a half hours.

Lee Robert Palmer stole a woman's BMW from the Avalon Health Centre car park, then used it to travel to a burglary on Gudge Heath Lane. He was caught on dash-cam parking the car outside the property and seen leaving with a holdall containing stolen electrical items. He later swapped the vehicle's number plates with those from another BMW to evade detection. He was arrested after a PCSO spotted the car, and DNA and footprints linked him to the crime.

The wider police investigation under the Fortress campaign uncovered drugs worth over £150,000 and significant amounts of cutting agents and paraphernalia. Sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court.

Liam Nicholas pursued his victim from Guildhall Square in Portsmouth in the early hours of 31 August 2016. He grabbed her from behind, pulled her to the ground, and assaulted her. He tried to pull her trousers down, intending to commit a sexual offence. The victim fought back, shouted for help, and escaped. Nicholas was arrested the same day and later pleaded guilty.

Between March 2018 and January 2019, Whittaker committed a series of burglaries in Whiteley and Portsmouth. On 26 March 2018, he kicked in the front door of a home on Clarence Parade in Southsea, stealing jewellery and electrical goods. On 9 January 2019 around midnight, he stole two cars and a handbag from a property on Hanoverian Way in Whiteley. He was later caught on CCTV using bank cards stolen from the handbag. Police recovered one of the vehicles. He pleaded guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court to the burglaries and fraudulent use of bank cards.

Linda Denham-Larholt exploited her young son Andrew Stevens, forcing him to touch her breasts while pretending to comfort him in her bed when he was barely a teenager. This occurred while his late step-father John was away in Saudi Arabia.
Convicted of indecency with a child at trial. Cleared of indecent assault charges. Ordered to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years. Judge noted it was an isolated incident of incitement to commit an act of gross indecency. Mitigating factors include COPD, asthma, depression, anxiety, family trauma, and low risk of re-offending.
Lloyd Butler

Lloyd Butler was exposed at Portsmouth Crown Court in 2014 for distributing indecent images and movies of child sexual abuse to other paedophiles online. Officers found 24 films and 1,461 pictures saved on his computer. The material came to light when a friend discovered deleted files while using Butler's laptop. The images depicted children being raped and tortured.
Pleaded guilty. Served 18 months of sentence at Broadmoor Hospital. Must register as a sex offender. Past rape allegations did not result in convictions.
Louis Alan Bibby

Louis Alan Bibby committed a serious assault on Fawcett Road on October 28 2020, where a man in his 30s sustained a head injury; he was charged with Section 18 wounding with intent. He also committed a burglary at an address on Exmouth Road on December 17 2020, gaining access via the front door between 3am and 3.45am and stealing a wallet containing credit and debit cards (one used later), a PS4, a mobile phone, a Galaxy Note and a Google Nest Hub Max. He was identified via forensic examination, Ring Doorbell footage and CCTV.
Pleaded guilty to burglary. Sentenced to four and a half years for the assault and an additional two years and five months for the burglary.
Luke Bews

Luke Bews, 22, broke into homes on Hillson Drive and Fareham Park Road in Fareham in the early hours of 25 March. At the first property on Hillson Drive, he crashed a car into the house and stole electronics, £30 in cash, and keys. On Fareham Park Road, he broke into a second home, stealing keys and searching vehicles. A third break-in on the same road saw him steal a Ford Fiesta, keys, cash, and an engagement ring. Keys from the first two burglaries were found dumped on a bridleway. He was arrested after the first victim provided a clear description and police recovered the stolen Fiesta.
Admitted to three burglaries. Investigating officer PC Charlotte Pocock said residential burglaries can have a dramatic impact on victims, especially when sentimental items are taken.
Malcolm Dutton
Causing grievous bodily harm without intent *

Malcolm Dutton, a 34-year-old man from Portchester, brutally attacked a 66-year-old driver with a metal steering lock during a road rage incident on the A27 between Fareham and Portchester on August 28, 2015. After a heated dispute on the A27, Dutton confronted the victim and repeatedly struck him on the head with the steering lock, causing serious head injuries that required hospital treatment. Two witnesses intervened, preventing the attack from becoming more deadly. The victim is now recovering at home.
Pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm without intent. The attack was described as brutal, unprovoked, and extremely traumatic for the victim. Witnesses intervened to prevent more serious injury.
Marc Daniel Ward

Garry Byrne
Making and distributing indecent images of children *

Garry Byrne shared indecent images and videos of children, including a toddler boy of 18 months, via secret WhatsApp groups with over 400 people across 32 groups between May 2017 and February 2018. He possessed 4,211 child abuse images including 755 videos and 614 category A still images on his phone, laptops and USB stick. He distributed images received by multiple people over 15,000 times and charges showed distribution of 104,000 images. Arrested at his lodging in Langley Road, Fratton, Portsmouth.
Admitted three charges each of distributing and making indecent images of children. Put on the sex offenders' register for life. Sexual harm prevention order imposed for life. Prior convictions for attempting to incite gross indecency with a child in 2004.
Henry Thomas Henderson
Possession of Class A drug with intent to supply *

On 8 September 2016, PC Tom Wyld stopped and arrested Henderson in a car in the Newport area of the Isle of Wight, along with co-accused Timothy Morgan. A search of Henderson’s address at the time in Downsview, Sandown, and Morgan’s vehicle recovered a large quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of £2million, including high purity heroin and cocaine, MDMA, ketamine, amphetamine and khat. It was suspected the drugs were set to be dealt over the Bestival weekend.
Admitted 4 counts of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, 2 counts of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply, and 2 counts of possession of a Class C drug with intent to supply. Fled to Spain after being bailed but returned to the UK and was charged on 30 September 2021.

On 6 November 2021, 52-year-old Ian Hawkins of Penhale Gardens in Fareham was spotted with a knife on Fareham High Street. Police found a large kitchen knife in his rucksack while he sat on a bench outside Wilko. A witness confirmed he had just purchased the knife there and made comments suggesting he was going to ‘do some damage’ with it. Hawkins claimed he bought it for fishing.
Convicted after trial at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court. On licence at the time, having previously served a jail term for a stabbing offence.

On 13 November last year, between 11.30am and 2pm, Masters broke into a property in Church Lane, Southampton, by prising open a bathroom window while the homeowners were out. An internal kitchen door was smashed with a brick, and he proceeded to smear cheese on the kitchen surfaces and stole bank letters, a laptop and a Nintendo Switch console. A fingerprint matching Masters’ was found on the bathroom window. On 16 December, between 8.10am and 2pm, a house in Brook Way, Romsey, was broken into while the occupants were out. Entry was gained by smashing a glass panel in the kitchen door with a rock. Stolen were a credit card, two debit cards, Icelandic currency worth £45, £30 in cash, two mobile phones and three gold rings, including a wedding ring. The credit card was used six times to buy items worth £135.80. The rock used to smash the door returned a DNA match to Masters and CCTV showed a man matching Masters’ appearance using the credit card.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and fraud by false representation.
Ian Wraith
Making and distributing indecent images of children *

Ian Wraith stored 1.5 million child abuse images in categorised folders across two hard drives and a laptop. He was arrested in December 2020 after police were tipped off he was using peer-to-peer sharing software to download and distribute images. Police found a laptop and hard drives under his bed containing 288,878 confirmed illegal images, with estimates of over 1.5 million. He shared 293 images and expressed no remorse for victims.
Admitted seven charges: breaching a sexual harm prevention order, three charges of distribution and three of making indecent images at all categories of severity. Must comply with a sexual harm prevention order and sign the sex offenders’ register for life. Prior convictions for similar offences, including running a paedophile website.

Jay Johnathan Steven Marsh filled his bag and coat with items including sweets, coffee and meat worth around £200 at the Co-Op store in The Hard, Portsmouth on 25 August (previous year). When approached by a staff member, he pulled out a Stanley knife, showed it and told the staff member to get out of the way so he could leave. He had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of theft in September 2021 at Boots in Commercial Road, Portsmouth, stealing around £5,000 of perfumery.

The gang’s activities were uncovered by Hampshire Constabulary's Fortress campaign, with police seizing Class A drugs worth over £150,000 and £7,000 in cash. A sim card detailing drug dealing from October 2015 was found, along with benzocaine, heroin with a potential street value of £100,000, and 163g of 85% pure cocaine worth nearly £40,000 when cut. He was among five defendants sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court.

On Sunday 14 March Saunders was riding on the pavement on Elm Grove when he collided with a 78-year-old man at a set of traffic lights. The man was knocked into the road and suffered a fractured wrist as a result. Saunders continued to verbally abuse the victim as he was lying in the road, before cycling away. Officers arrested Saunders and he was later charged.

A 71-year-old pensioner from Southsea, Graham Stubbs, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 44-year-old woman at his home on St Andrews Road. The incident occurred on 10 September 2023, when the woman, feeling unwell, accepted Stubbs' offer of assistance. However, Stubbs exploited her vulnerability, first groping her chest despite her clear rejection, and then assaulting her again while she slept. Portsmouth Crown Court heard that Stubbs, described as depraved by investigators, initially approached the woman under the pretence of helping her as she felt sick. When she declined his advances, he persisted and carried out the assaults. He was arrested shortly after and charged with sexual assault and sexual assault by digital penetration. Stubbs admitted both charges during proceedings.

Lieutenant Commander Graham Trewhella used dating app Grindr to message someone he believed to be a 14-year-old boy called 'George' for two days, expressing interest in sex. He arrived to meet the 'boy' but was confronted by paedophile hunting group Trap. Police found over 1,100 indecent images of children on his computer, including 329 of the most severe category, dating back to 2015. Arrested on October 28, 2017.
Pleaded guilty to attempting to arrange or facilitate a child sex offence, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and three charges of making indecent images. Judge commented that immediate custody would not aid rehabilitation and accepted remorse.

The offences first came to the attention of police in June 2019 when one of the victims reported that Daniels had touched her inappropriately on several occasions earlier that month when he was 18 and she was 14. Two days later, a second victim came forward to report that Daniels had sexually assaulted him in a number of incidents when he was just 12-years-old and again two years later when he was 14. Officers launched an investigation and Daniels was arrested and later charged.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of sexual communication with a child and one count of sexual assault on a child.
Duncan Snellgrove

On Sunday, September 25, Snellgrove had a heated exchange with 69-year-old Roy Galvin while cycling on Bury Road's one-way system. Snellgrove shoved the victim, who hit his head on the road and later died in hospital from his injuries three days later. Snellgrove fled the scene towards Stoke Road.
Admitted manslaughter. 17 previous convictions covering 29 offences, including violent attacks. The judge described the killing as cruel.
Edson Domingos

Edson Domingos, a 41-year-old Angolan and British national formerly of Elm Grove, Southsea, raped a woman after his friend Bruno Sala arranged the encounter without her consent in Portsmouth between 2019 and 2021. Sala later misled the victim by telling her the act was not rape because he had given his friend permission. The offences formed part of a broader string of sex crimes orchestrated during that period. Domingos was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court for two counts of rape.
Also ordered to serve an additional three years on licence. The offences involved one of three women targeted in Southampton and Portsmouth between 2019 and 2021. The rape was arranged by Bruno Sala without the victim's consent, who later misled her. Detective Constable Nick Sandford-Smith described the crimes as 'despicable' and praised the victims' resilience.

On Monday, 4 October, an off-duty police officer witnessed a suspected drugs deal taking place between two men in Percy Road, Southsea. Elliott Bonney entered an address in the same road, later left and got into the rear of a taxi on Fratton Road where he was arrested while trying to dismantle a Nokia phone. The phone was seized and found to hold a drug line used to send marketing messages advertising the sale of Class A drugs. Analysis confirmed drugs found were cocaine and heroin.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs at an earlier hearing.
Fabian Silva

Fabian Silva seriously assaulted a 19-year-old man in Slindon Street, Portsmouth city centre on April 30th, stabbing him in the right arm at approximately 5.30pm. The victim was taken to Southampton General Hospital in a serious condition, put into an induced coma and underwent surgery. He has since recovered.
Found guilty after trial having denied the charges. Also convicted of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
