Shaun Healy, aged 73, sexually abused a girl over a four-year period between 2016 and 2020, with the assaults beginning when the child was under the age of 13. Police were contacted about the abuse in March 2020, and following an investigation Healy was charged with 4 counts of assault by penetration of a girl under 13 and rape of a girl under 13.
Denied the charges but was found guilty of all offences following a trial. Formerly of Maynard Close in Gosport.

Shaun Higginson, 47, of no fixed abode, committed a total of eight offences against one child between 1987 and 1992 in Southampton, including one count of attempted rape of a female under 16, one count of gross indecency with a girl under 14 and six counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14.

Shelesha Collins was part of a drugs network operating between Croydon and Havant and Waterlooville known as ‘God’, active since November 2018. On 12 May 2020, warrants were executed at her home address in Scarbrook Road, Croydon. Officers seized a White Mercedes A-Class used by Collins.
Previously found guilty of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Shelley Simpson, director of collapsed holiday firm Sphere Events Ltd, forged payment confirmations and bank statements to pretend luxury holiday bookings and tickets had been made between 2019 and 2022. More than 90 victims paid nearly £300,000 for discounted holidays including honeymoons and trips to Barbados and the Maldives that were never booked. She spent the money on business debts, private school fees and herself in a Ponzi-style scheme. Some victims discovered the fraud after setting off and had to pay extra.
Pleaded guilty to fraudulent trading. Aged 46, of Westwood Road in Hilsea, Hampshire.

Terrance Patrick Braden broke into an 80-year-old woman's home in Lee-on-the-Solent on May 5, stealing a handbag containing £100 in cash. Police matched his DNA to the break-in.
Pleaded guilty to burglary. Additional sentences: 182 days for using fake credit and debit cards, 182 days for theft from a car, and 57 days for breaching a conditional discharge, with some sentences to run consecutively.

Causing death by careless driving while over the legal limit of cannabis *

On 23 August, Steven Agar was speeding along the A32 Wickham Road in his Audi A4. He had already overtaken one vehicle and attempted a second overtake on a bend, lost control, and crashed into a Mazda carrying three passengers. Gena Close, 56, a backseat passenger, died in hospital. Tests showed Agar had 2.3 micrograms of THC in his blood, exceeding the legal limit of 2.0 micrograms.
Pleaded guilty. Judge said cannabis played a critical role in the crash. Also banned from driving for five years.

Steven Michael Larry Waters, 24, of no fixed address, was caught by police officers from the Fortress Drugs-Related Harm team dealing crack cocaine to local users on Church Road, Portsmouth, on 25 June. He was found in possession of Class A drugs – heroin and crack cocaine – and charged with possession with intent to supply. The police swiftly moved in to arrest him.

Steven Ward, 43, of Chartwell Close, Fareham, PO14 4RD, committed offences against three girls between 2006 and 2017. A jury found him guilty of 15 counts of rape, five counts of sexual activity with a child and one sexual assault.

On Monday, 4 October, following a suspected drugs deal in Percy Road, Southsea, officers searched an address where Tayo Odunukan was located in a bedroom with a quantity of suspected Class A drugs (cocaine and heroin) and a Nokia phone. The phone held a drug line used to send marketing messages advertising the sale of Class A drugs.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs at an earlier hearing.

Wayne Newton, of The Holliers Hotel, Church Road, Shanklin, was involved in large-scale cannabis production at the hotel. Police discovered 242 cannabis plants across the second floor, valued up to £29,000, with a sophisticated set-up including lighting, hydroponics and ventilation systems. He admitted cannabis production and permitting premises to be used.
The judge said he was 'in it for the money'. He also admitted permitting the premises to be used for cannabis production.

On 1 February 2023, around 10:15pm, in the Guildhall area of Portsmouth, the victim, a woman in her 20s, was approached by Tesfagabriel Gebrzgabhir, who was riding a distinctive neon green bicycle with a Deliveroo bag. He attempted to remove her clothes, indecently exposed himself, and fled when she began filming him on her mobile phone. The footage and bicycle description led to his arrest. DNA analysis confirmed his involvement.
Pleaded guilty to attempted rape. Additional extended licence period of four years, bringing the total extended sentence to ten years and four months.

Thomas Goodey, a 27-year-old performing arts teacher from Daniel Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight, met two boys through the dating app Grindr and later became aware they were underage. He invited the first boy to his mother's house in September 2016 and had a sexual encounter. He took the second boy to a hotel in October 2016, gave him vodka, and carried out sexual acts. The first boy reported the incident in February 2017, leading to Goodey's arrest.
Pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Sexual harm prevention order imposed and placed on the sex offenders' register. Judge David Melville QC commented: 'You should have said no. You weakened when you should have resisted.' Dismissed from school after allegations emerged.
Timothy Cale
Causing death by careless driving *

In 2022, 59-year-old Timothy Cale reversed a Land Rover from New Barn Lane onto Shorwell Main Road near a blind bend on the Isle of Wight at a 40-degree angle, striking Professor Simon McQueen-Mason, a University of York academic cycling downhill at the 30mph limit. The collision caused devastating injuries leading to the professor's death at the scene. Cale drove away with a smashed rear windscreen, claiming it was caused by a falling tree branch, and later returned denying wrongdoing.
Convicted by unanimous jury verdict after six-day trial in November. Maintained in court that his driving was not careless.

Convicted in absence of four counts of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, two counts of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply, and two counts of possession of a Class C drug with intent to supply following a trial.

On December 6 2020, Bell attended the address of a victim in her 20s in Waterlooville in relation to a Facebook Marketplace advert, forcibly kissed her and touched her inappropriately over her clothing before being disturbed and leaving; he later messaged her to meet again. While on bail, in the early hours of Boxing Day, he entered the bedroom of a woman he knew in Chichester while she slept and sexually assaulted her, prompting her to shout at him to leave.
Pleaded guilty to sexual assault. Four years for the Sussex offence and two for the Hampshire offence. Sexual Harm Prevention Order for ten years, lifetime Restraining Order relating to both victims, sex offender register for life.
