John Slater, from Terrington St Clement, Norfolk, was a serial paedophile convicted of multiple child sex offences. In 1974 he was convicted of sex with a 12-year-old girl. In November 2011, he was convicted of nine sex offences involving four girls and a boy, groomed with alcohol and pornography before being sexually assaulted; victims were as young as three. He received eight-and-a-half years. In 2014 at Norwich Crown Court, he was sentenced to a further 14-and-a-half years for abusing another young girl, leading to a total sentence of 22 years. Judge Stephen Holt said his actions devastated lives. Slater died in prison on 26 November 2025 at age 85.

On the evening of July 9, Keiron Forde, aged 25 and of Orchard Close, Attleborough, drove a black Subaru Impreza in a dangerous manner in Norwich as part of anti-social driving. He failed to stop for police, reached 100mph in a 30mph zone, overtook another car on a traffic light controlled pedestrian crossing causing a member of the public to brake, drove through a red light at 88mph, overtook vehicles dangerously on the Norwich ring road, drove towards residential areas on the wrong side of the road, ignored a no entry sign and drove the wrong way on a one-way street. Police stopped following due to safety concerns. He was arrested at his home on July 10.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and failing to stop for police at an earlier hearing. Ordered to complete an extended driving test.

On May 12, 2021, Kelly Bond and Darren James were arrested in Dereham during the early hours. A search of their vehicle found a loaded handgun with ammunition and an amount of cocaine. Searches at an address in Kenninghall seized two more packages of cocaine. The pair had travelled around the country coordinating the purchase, supply and distribution of significant quantities of class A and class B drugs using encrypted devices.

Lee Peartree, 34, of Appletree Lane, Diss, was driving a silver Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck on the A143 towards Diss, shortly after 8pm on October 1, 2023, when his car veered into the path of the black Ford S-Max of 40-year-old Jonathan Nyashanu, causing a head-on collision. Peartree was more than three times over the alcohol limit (120 micrograms), had cannabis in his system, and his driving was described as erratic by witnesses. Several empty bottles of alcohol and 4.98 grams of cannabis were found in his vehicle. Jonathan Nyashanu died at the scene; his two passengers suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries.

Tony Wickstead, of Scott Road, Norwich, inflicted monstrous sexual abuse on three girls under 13 between 2016 and 2018. Convicted of six counts of rape against one child in a campaign of rape, causing or inciting sexual activity, and two counts of rape against two other children. One victim suffered physical harm including being handcuffed, dragged by hair, strangled, and feared for her life. Another required potential medical treatment for injuries.

Between 2017 and 2019, Trevor Lee, while working as treasurer for the Norfolk Rugby Union Referee Society (NRURS), merged the society’s funds with his personal accounts, wrote false cheques to inflate balances, and declared false balances at AGMs and to the Financial Conduct Authority, stealing £80,095. He also, as a director for Salire Ltd, sold company stock and had fraudulent invoices paid into his personal account, stealing £97,908. The frauds were discovered when the new NRURS chairman found the balance was only 65p instead of over £24,000, leading to investigations.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud by abuse of position. Admitted first offence was to finance gambling addiction and has made efforts to repay some money taken from NRURS.

Trevor Sieley
Storing and disposing of waste without an environmental permit *

Trevor Sieley stored and burned waste illegally at a site in Outwell, near Downham Market, despite repeated warnings from the Environment Agency. The waste included agricultural vehicles and equipment from his former contracting business, scrap metal, plastics, metals, and hazardous items such as a vehicle engine and a television, burned in a specially constructed pit. He disposed of commercial waste for family and friends, saving them disposal costs. Environment Agency officers visited the site 7 times and issued a notice in September 2019 to clear it, but he continued. Offences took place between 29 July 2019 and 17 December 2019. Residential buildings and businesses were 200 metres away.
Pleaded guilty. Ordered to pay £140 victim surcharge and £10 for breaching a suspended sentence order. Prior environmental convictions and suspended sentence for permitting cannabis cultivation taken into account. Judge commented he thought criminal law did not apply to him.

Trevor Webb, 38, of Dobby Drive, King's Lynn, met the teenage victim online and arranged for her to be taken to hotels and other addresses in King's Lynn where she had sexual encounters with other men in exchange for money between February and April 2018. Some encounters went beyond what had been agreed. He also made an indecent image of a child between January and June 2018.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of arranging to facilitate the sexual exploitation of a child between February and April 2018, and making an indecent image of a child between January and June 2018. Judge accepted guilty pleas and noted delays due to research and pandemic but imposed custodial sentence. McMurtrie was convicted on 11 counts of sexual activity with a child after a trial at Norwich Crown Court in January 2024.

Scott Morgan, 25, of Recorder Road, Norwich, raped a victim on two occasions after isolating them at his home following a night out. On 13 March 2023, the victim had been socialising with Morgan and friends in Norwich city centre. Late that night, they returned to Morgan's home, where Morgan instructed the other friend to leave while the victim was in the bathroom, ensuring he was alone with the victim. He then raped the victim twice. The victim fled and contacted police. Morgan was arrested, charged, and later pleaded guilty.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of rape. Placed on sex offenders register indefinitely. Detective described him as a dangerous individual.
Shane Percival

Shane Percival, a lance corporal with the Royal Anglian Regiment based in Norwich, was convicted at Norwich Crown Court in 2022 of the rape and sexual assault of a child under 13. The offences occurred between December 2011 and August 2013, when Percival was aged between 16 and 18, and the victim was between nine and 10 years old. The victim came forward at the age of 15 by confiding in a teacher about the abuse. Court proceedings revealed the profound impact on her mental health, including self-harm and suicide attempts. Percival was sentenced to five years and two months' imprisonment. He died on 10 November 2023 at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital from complications related to a cardiac arrest following hanging.

The abuse occurred after Vertigan entered the boy's bedroom wearing only underwear, in a van, and included taking the boy to a Norwich City match. The victim, now 41, read an emotional impact statement to the court.
Admitted three counts of gross indecency with a child under 14 and two counts of indecent assault on a boy under 14. Already serving a six-year sentence for previous sexual assaults. Judge Maureen Bacon noted the terrible abuse and its considerable impact on the victim.
Shaun Gilder

In May 2004, 21-year-old Shaun Gilder from Oulton Broad, Suffolk, met 17-year-old Dan Cooper in Norwich, Norfolk. After a barbecue, Gilder became intoxicated and asked Dan to drive him home. Around midnight, Gilder directed Dan to stop on a quiet road behind James Paget Hospital in Gorleston, Norfolk, where he attacked Dan, committing two counts of rape and one count of assault by penetration. Dan suffered serious internal injuries requiring hospital admission three times that summer. Dan reported the assault to Norfolk Police in September 2004, but the case did not proceed. In 2018, while serving on a jury, Dan re-reported the attack. A trial at Norwich Crown Court in November 2023 led to Gilder's conviction on all counts. On 27 February 2024, he was sentenced to eight years in prison. Dan waived his anonymity, stating in his victim impact statement that he has regular thoughts of suicide.

Police found the phone after a tip-off during a search of his home.

Conversations moved to Instagram, became flirtatious and sexualised, exchanging images/videos and live streaming. After she blocked him, he contacted her elsewhere. In March 2020, he drove to the south coast, picked her up and sexually assaulted her in his car on the sea front. He encouraged her to self-harm. Offences discovered in May 2020 when her mother saw him live streaming her sleeping.
Previously admitted offence of an adult meeting a girl under 16 following grooming, two counts of sexual activity with a girl, engaging in sexual communication with a child, and making an indecent photo of a child. Rowan Baker

Rowan Baker, a convicted paedophile serving a sentence for child sex offences at HMP Bure, was found with approximately 380 sketches of naked and partially clothed children in his cell. The drawings, many depicting children under 18 in sexual poses, included explicit content such as a Despicable Me character covered in semen and an island scene with Japanese writing translating to 'Pervert is my own island'. The sketches were discovered during a routine cell search in August 2023. Baker was found guilty after a trial of three offences of possessing a prohibited image. Suran Uddin

Suran Uddin, aged 26, abducted a vulnerable 13-year-old girl from east London in early 2013. He drove a van that took her to a house in Chevallier Street, Ipswich, where she was raped and sexually exploited over four days until rescued by police. Uddin was convicted of two counts of rape, conspiracy to traffic in the UK, and supplying a class B drug to the victim. The court heard that the girl was lured into the van, taken to a town she had never visited, and passed between the men for sexual purposes. The judge noted the men had no intention of helping her but sought to exploit her sexually.
