On August 2023, following drinks at a friend's house, Douglas Clifton Brown, aged 56, argued with his former partner Camilla Welby in the car after their 15-year relationship had ended. Instead of driving her home, he drove to the historic well at High House Estate near Congham, Norfolk, which he had recently filled with water. He ferociously attacked her, striking her repeatedly in the face during a 35- to 40-minute car journey, causing swelling so severe she could not open her right eye. He dragged her from the vehicle and threatened 'I will put you down the well to kill you, then kill myself', attempting to murder her by throwing her down the disused well. Aurelijus Cielevicius, 39, of John Street, King’s Lynn, was driving a BMW eastbound along the A47 near the Hardwick roundabout between Middleton and King's Lynn at around 7.40pm on Sunday 15 January 2023, while high on methylamphetamine, mephedrone, and cannabis. He was travelling at speeds up to 96mph, went through red traffic lights, and failed to return to the correct side of the road after overtaking another vehicle, causing a head-on collision with a Vauxhall Mokka driven by Paul Carter, with Lisa Carter and Jade Mace as passengers. All three occupants of the Vauxhall were killed at the scene. Toxicology confirmed multiple drugs in his system. He had passed a stationary police vehicle at high speed minutes earlier.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of causing death by dangerous driving. Will serve a further four years on extended licence and disqualified from driving for 15 years.

Tyrone Murray Castles abused boys under the age of 16 whom he met through his job as a teacher at Glebe House School in Hunstanton during the late 1980s and early 1990s. He groomed the victims by developing special relationships and giving them preferential treatment, and befriended their parents to avoid suspicion. Described as 'dominating and frightening' by one victim, he carried out calculated abuse for his own sexual gratification. The investigation began in late 2018 after police received information about alleged abuse at the school, leading to outreach to potential victims who provided statements. Castles was arrested in February 2019 in Cumbria, denied the allegations in interviews, but later pleaded guilty to the charges.
Pleaded guilty to eight charges. Judge Shaw referred to him as 'an offender of particular concern'. Placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. Subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. Seven remaining charges ordered to lie on file.

Harry Smith

On November 18, 2019, Harry Smith broke into a property on Hickathrift Field in Marshland St James in the early hours of the morning and was disturbed by the victim before fleeing. Later that day, he entered a business premise on Church Terrace in Outwell armed with a weapon, made threats to a member of staff, demanded money, and stole between £100 and £200 before running off. He was linked to these offences and additional incidents in Cambridgeshire.
Pleaded guilty to charges including burglary and robbery. Sentence reflects hard work in investigation and aims to provide closure to victims.

On the evening of May 19, 2020, Matthew Carpenter entered the victims' home in Chapel Lane, Methwold, West Norfolk, carrying an imitation gun and a crowbar wrapped in a bag, using a sock as a facemask. He demanded gold and money, threatening to shoot the couple and their dog. The male victim suffered cuts to his head after being hit with the gun. Carpenter fled empty-handed, leaving the sock at the scene, which forensic evidence linked to him. He was stopped by police in Cambridgeshire the following month driving a white Ford Transit Connect van matching a witness description, and a seized mobile phone showed videos of him with an imitation handgun.
Pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary and possessing an imitation firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. A third charge of conspiracy to commit burglary will remain on file.

James Amphlett-Roberts committed child sex offences against girls and boys under 13 in West Norfolk between March 2011 and May 2017, including three counts of rape, five counts of sexual assault by touching, and four counts of inciting children to engage in sexual activity. He was 21 at the time of sentencing and formerly resided in Barney, near Fakenham.
Convicted of 12 charges after a trial at Norwich Crown Court; must serve at least two thirds of the 8-year term before parole and can be recalled if licence terms are breached.

Thomas Pateman, a second-hand gold shop owner from Chesterton near Cambridge, helped a 12-member gang sell stolen items worth over £2 million from 250 burglaries across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Bedfordshire, Suffolk, and Essex between February and December 2017. The gang stole jewellery, cars, and cash. Pateman bought and sold the stolen goods through his shop in Mill Road, Cambridge, benefiting by more than £440,000.
Found guilty of being part of a sophisticated criminal network. Received sentence in 2018; later ordered to repay £320,091 under Proceeds of Crime Act at Norwich Crown Court on 4 March.

Marcus Strong, 64, flew into a rage and fired his 12 bore shotgun in the air before telling his tenants, a couple in their 60s renting a mobile home in the grounds of his home in Gunthorpe Lane, Briningham, Melton Constable, that they had only five minutes to vacate the property. He assaulted the couple while holding the gun, causing them fear and consternation.
Admitted possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, assaulting the couple, and damaging property. Expressed remorse and described behaviour as wholly uncharacteristic. No previous convictions. Firearms licence revoked indefinitely.

Derek Klein, a self-employed accountant and treasurer for two parochial church councils in north Norfolk, embezzled £70,000 over 23 years from Bacton and Ridlington churches. The funds were raised through parish events, grants, and donations, and were used to fuel his addictions to stamp collecting and online gambling. He concealed his actions with lies, including claims of money in a Jersey account, until suspicions from the Reverend Dr Richard Hines led to his exposure.
Pleaded guilty to embezzlement. Repaid the full amount by selling his stamp collection, with Judge Peter Jacobs praising his repayment and stating, 'We have been totally vindicated.'

Denny Roberts, of Billingford, drove under the influence of alcohol and struck Sam Weedon's Audi A6 on the B1118 between Oakley and Hoxne in Suffolk on March 30, 2023, causing catastrophic injuries to Mr Weedon including broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a burst fracture to a vertebrae on his spine.
Admitted charges of causing serious injury by careless driving and drink-driving.
Emirjan Gatali

On March 15, police executed a drugs search warrant at a disused abattoir in Banham, uncovering a large cannabis factory with three growing rooms containing more than 450 plants, lights, fans, feed, smaller plants, and a drying room. Gatali and four others sprinted away but were tracked by police, dogs, and drones and detained.
Previously admitted the charge. Aged 29, of High Street, Edgware, London.
