Prince Asareb Boakye, 19, from Telford, travelled to North Wales as part of a County Lines network that targeted and exploited a vulnerable man in the Conwy area. Between 2023 and 2025, he played an active role in supplying heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis in the Llandudno area. He was also involved in an incident on 16th January where he was found guilty of threatening with a knife and false imprisonment.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis, along with a separate charge of cannabis possession. During the searches, officers recovered almost half a kilogram of cocaine with an estimated street value of between £28,000 and £40,000. Gareth Hastie, 44, of Kinmel Bay, was found to have the drugs.

Ian Michael Jones

Ian Michael Jones, a 61-year-old disability support worker from Bedford Street in Rhyl, committed fraud by false representation against vulnerable adults with learning difficulties between 2013 and 2020. Employed by Premier Home Care and Flintshire County Council, he exploited his position by using victims' details to open bank accounts, obtain finance, credit cards, and store cards. He purchased items including a £1,500 Tag Heuer watch, jewellery, a new kitchen, windows, and driveway, totaling £45,647.43 in fraudulent gains. The offences were uncovered in 2020 when victims received suspicious letters about debts and mobile phones, leading to a police search that found financial documents, bank cards, and £9,000 in cash at his home in Ffordd Pennant, Mostyn, Holywell. Victims reported feeling upset, anxious, isolated, and betrayed, having trusted him as a friend and helper with daily tasks like shopping and cooking.
Admitted seven counts of fraud by false representation. Judge commented on the dreadful manner towards vulnerable people and breach of employment trust. Sentences concurrent except one.

On Christmas Eve, Luke Smaje, 23, of Broad Oak View, Northop Hall, stabbed martial arts fighter Jack Shaw twice in the Broad Oak pub in Connah's Quay after both had relationships with the same woman at different times. Smaje complained of lack of respect and wanted to show pain, getting the jump on Shaw with a fairly sizeable knife before they could go outside to fight. One stab went through Shaw's liver, causing him to lose two and a half litres of blood, requiring two surgeries and resulting in lasting weakness that may prevent his professional fighting career. Shaw was rushed to the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Pleaded guilty to wounding with intent. Concurrent 16 months for possession of a knife in a public place. Must serve two thirds before parole eligibility. Judge noted the attack was motivated by revenge over relationships with the same woman, out of character but involved illegal knife carrying, ketamine, and alcohol.
Miles Stain

Miles Stain, 21, of East Parade, Rhyl, was involved in supplying cannabis between July 2023 and June 2024. On June 30, 2024, police stopped him in Bodfor Street, Rhyl, after smelling cannabis; he had three bags totaling 43 grams of cannabis, a grinder, and two Ecstasy tablets. A search of his home found £160 in cash. Phone analysis revealed messages offering cannabis to customers. He claimed debts of £12,000 from a previous arrest led to threats of being killed and 'chopped up', but provided no evidence or names.
Second drugs offence. Pleaded guilty. Also received a concurrent 10-month sentence for possession of cannabis with intent to supply. No separate penalty for possession of two Ecstasy tablets. Judge noted prior suspended sentence in June 2023 and reversion to similar behaviour.

On July 3, 2025, Matthew Macmillan, 38, of Meredith Crescent, Rhyl, falsely believed his grandmother Carol Macmillan, 82, and neighbour Kate Hughes-King, 47, had taken his £77,000 gambling winnings. Under the influence of cannabis since age 14 and having bought £50 of cocaine the day before, he stabbed his grandmother multiple times in her first-floor flat using one knife, causing injuries treated with sutures at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. He then rushed downstairs, locked himself in Mrs Hughes-King's flat, and stabbed her multiple times with a second knife, puncturing her lung and fracturing her ribs. Police burst in and Tasered him, stopping the attack. Mrs Hughes-King was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital, spoke to her children fearing death, and was discharged after three days but suffers permanent scars, flashbacks, and psychological trauma.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder. Branded 'extraordinarily dangerous' by the judge. Must serve two thirds before parole. Concurrent sentences of 12 years and 30 years.

Declan Skimmings, 33, of no fixed address, was involved in a county lines-style operation supplying heroin and crack cocaine from Liverpool to the Caia Park area of Wrexham for four months in 2025. Police discovered a graft phone in July 2025 sending messages to known drug users about available drugs. From October 2025, the same phone with a different number continued sending flare messages. He was arrested outside his home on November 4, 2025, and the phone was seized. A white powder suspected to be drugs was found at his property, though not formally tested. Skimmings has 35 convictions for 65 offences, linked to his drug addiction. He is a father of two with no current contact and aims to wean off drugs via methadone, normalise his lifestyle in custody, and resume work as a grounds worker upon release.
Pleaded not specified. Judge noted 'really bad record' with 13 convictions for drug offences, including 12 prior drug-related convictions. Also subject to a 5-year Criminal Behaviour Order. Mobile phone and drugs forfeited.
David Peers

In the early 1980s, David Peers, then in his late twenties, groomed and sexually abused a teenage girl under 16. He met her in his car, kissed her, exposed himself, and instructed her to perform sexual acts in a lane. Later, he invited her to his house for sex and other acts when his wife was out. On the day his wife gave birth, he called the girl over and had penetrative sex with her upstairs. He also committed a sex act with her on a coach, covering her with his coat. A few years later, Peers, 21 years older than his second underage victim, groomed her similarly, starting with kissing in his car, progressing to sexual activity and penetrative sex at his home over three years. She skipped school to meet him. He took intimate photographs of her and threatened to disclose them.
Pleaded guilty to seven offences of indecent assault against first victim under 16, convicted of two offences of indecent assault and two counts of gross indecency against second victim under 16. Concurrent sentences for first victim (5 years and 4 months), consecutive 3 years for second victim. Subject to sexual offenders notification requirements for life and lifelong restraining orders. Viktor Dukaj, a 31-year-old Albanian national, had been living in Chesterfield, UK, with his partner and three-year-old son. He left the UK impulsively to visit his mother in Albania after she broke her leg. Unable to return legally due to prior refused applications for permission to remain, he obtained a false Greek passport, driving licence, and ID card by borrowing money in Albania and working in Greece. On September 3, 2025, he travelled by ferry from Dublin to the Port of Holyhead in a car driven by his partner, presenting the false passport with a false name and date of birth to enter Wales. Immigration officials detained him using fingerprint records, confirming his identity and possession of a genuine Albanian passport. He was arrested and cautioned.
