Stacey Louise Ince-Stamp
Causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal *
Sentence
Fined £120 and disqualified from keeping all animals for three years
Stacey Louise Ince-Stamp caused unnecessary suffering to her young male brown cross Weimaraner type dog, named Dougie, by failing to investigate and address the causes of his poor bodily condition, weight loss, and sickness. On January 21, 2024, RSPCA Inspector Anthony Joynes investigated an allegation of neglect at her address in Wrexham and found Dougie's deceased body in an emaciated condition in the rear garden, wrapped in a blanket next to a shallow grave. The dog weighed 9.7 kg with a body condition score of 1/9, showing visible spine, ribs, and pelvic bones. A post-mortem examination revealed no clear medical cause for the poor condition, but indicated generalised loss of muscular tissue, irritated areas in the large intestine, and the stomach filled with inappropriate human food like dry dog kibble, potato wedges, pizza, and a plastic object. The veterinary opinion was that Dougie suffered due to an inappropriate diet causing hunger, weakness, severe weight loss, and likely his death, which could have been prevented by seeking veterinary care earlier.
Pleaded guilty to one offence under the Animal Welfare Act. Ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £48.
