After briefly meeting the teenage daughter, he went upstairs multiple times, then crept into her bedroom, crawled on top of her like a monster, grabbed her hair, threatened to shoot her, forced her to use her phone torch, and raped her while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, causing injuries to her face and head. The mother locked him in the back garden after hearing screams.
Pleaded guilty. No previous offences of a similar nature. Judge Driver described him as a 'predatory, violent and determined rapist' and questioned the genuineness of his remorse.

Pleaded guilty to three offences of making indecent images of children, one of possessing them and one of possessing extreme porn. No previous convictions. Low risk of re-offending. Family support. Jolley was arrested when the officer revealed his identity. The offence was committed last month before sentencing, after Jolley returned to the UK from Belgium.

On 16 November 2023, Nathan O'Malia, 34, of Sandringham Drive in Sutton, St Helens, picked up his partner and her friend in his Mitsubishi L200 after they had been on a night out in Liverpool. An argument broke out due to him being under the influence of alcohol. When an officer attempted to stop the car on Edge Lane, O’Malia drove off at speed, reaching 68mph in a 30mph zone. He crashed into a taxi, fled onto the M62 and M6 at speeds up to 100mph, then continued through Warrington at high speeds, contravening red lights and mounting verges. He was arrested at 8.10am after a 40-minute pursuit involving a police helicopter. A breath test showed 57 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath. Passengers reported fearing the car would flip over.
Admitted charges of dangerous driving and drink-driving. Has eight previous convictions for 12 offences. Judge Andrew Menary described actions as ‘truly outrageous’ and noted it was ‘a miracle that nobody was seriously harmed’.

Arrested at his workplace on April 17, 2021. Has seven prior convictions including 2.5 years imprisonment in 2018 for nine sexual offences and four weeks for breaching SHPO.

Mark Fellows shot underworld fixer John Kinsella to death on 5 May 2018, executing him with four shots – two to the back and two to the head – as Kinsella walked his dogs with his pregnant partner, Wendy Owen, near Rainhill. He also fired shots towards Ms Owen. In July 2015, Fellows killed Kinsella's associate Paul Massey, known as Salford's 'Mr Big', shooting him with an Uzi submachine gun outside his home in Clifton. Fellows carried out the killings as a hired gunman in a gangland feud. He showed 'casual indifference', finalising the Kinsella murder plan during a family pub meal and going shopping and clubbing afterwards.
Found guilty of the murders of Paul Massey and John Kinsella. Not guilty of attempted murder of Wendy Owen. Described by the judge as a 'contract killer' and a 'gun for hire'. The judge said the case fell into the exceptional and rare category for a whole life order.

Linked via CCTV, ANPR, cell siting and telecoms evidence. Used a Citroen Berlingo van registered and insured to him.

Alin Cobzaru, of Scarisbrick Street, Southport, committed multiple offences of sexual activity with a child involving penetration against a girl under 16. The offences were reported in November 2020. Following a police investigation, he was arrested, charged, and remanded into custody.

Andrew Edgson, previously jailed for 14 months in December 2020 for sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl, formed a relationship with a woman in 2019, moved into her Bootle home with her two children after his release, and failed to notify police of his address as required under the Sexual Offences Register. He disappeared in December 2020, later contacting her from prison claiming he was at a police station. The woman discovered his conviction in April 2021.
Pleaded guilty to failing to comply with registration requirements under Sexual Offences provisions. Recorder David Knifton, QC, noted flagrant breach of the registration scheme and manipulation of the victim.

Andrew Matthews, of O'Leary Street, Warrington, Cheshire, grabbed the woman's genitals with force causing bruising and pain, grabbed her by the neck, spat in her face, and punched her. The incident occurred earlier in 2021.

Anthony Contento, from Birkdale, hoarded children's underwear and used the RandoChat app under the name 'Papa Bear' to distribute child rape images, including Category A images of children as young as four. Police raided his house on Welbeck Road, Southport, Merseyside in September 2021, finding over 130 disturbing pictures and videos on his phone. He reoffended shortly after a previous sexual harm prevention order lapsed, despite avoiding jail in 2019 and being offered support.
Pleaded guilty early to ten counts including possession of 135 images. Prior suspended sentence in 2019 for similar offences. Judge noted denial of sexual interest in children and described him as a determined and persistent offender. Also made subject of new sexual harm prevention order and ordered to pay statutory surcharge.

Anthony Cubitt, 36, of Grange Road West, Birkenhead, Merseyside, bombarded a 15-year-old girl with sexually explicit texts, calling her sexy and threatening her. He kissed her, grabbed her around the waist, put his hands down her pants and touched her bottom after following her home from a party. The victim attempted suicide. While on bail, he attempted to groom a 12-year-old girl decoy online, sending explicit messages and topless pictures, and arranging to meet.
Admitted three counts of sexual communication with a child, one of inciting child to engage in sexual activity, two counts of sexual activity with a child and one of attempted sexual communication with a child. Assessed as high risk of serious harm to children. Ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders Register and abide by a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.
Anthony Cullen
Conspiracy to supply firearms and cocaine *

Anthony Cullen, as part of the Cullen twins' organised crime group, ran a large-scale drug importation and supply scheme involving cocaine, turning over at least £300,000 a month. The gang used violence to intimidate and control others and stashed weapons including an AK-47 assault rifle, pump action shotgun, automatic pistols, and revolvers, which were hired out to other gangs and linked to shootings across the north west, including Bootle in 2015.

Andrew Wolverson, a 73-year-old former dentist from Northwich, possessed indecent images of children while incarcerated at HMP Risley. He was already serving a 32-month sentence for breaching his sexual harm prevention order. On 15 June, prison guards found a book containing an envelope with 40 explicit hand-drawn images depicting child sexual abuse, some annotated with ages and depraved remarks. A further cell search uncovered another envelope with cutouts of children from newspapers and magazines, including one he described as 'pretty'. He admitted to officers that he found them sexually arousing. The judge described him as a recidivist paedophile drawing out his fantasies.

In 2018, Annuar Ameir, from Arnold Crescent, Liverpool, L8 8NF, carried a drunk 17-year-old girl into a house living room after meeting her that day while out with separate groups of friends who later merged. The victim was vulnerable, having thrown up outside. Ameir, who was also drunk, removed her clothes and raped her as she slept on a sofa. She woke during the attack but could not stop him. The victim suffered lasting effects including depression and alcohol abuse, reliving trauma during trial due to his denials.
Found guilty by jury after denying the offence. No relevant previous convictions. Judge noted predatory behaviour, exploitation of vulnerabilities, misogynistic views, but ruled not a dangerous offender warranting extended sentence.
Alexandru Negoescu

Alexandru Negoescu, 35, from Warrington, messaged a 15-year-old girl on Instagram requesting sexual videos. He sent her two depraved videos of himself performing a sex act in the bath. The victim’s mother discovered the messages, pretended to be her daughter, gathered evidence, and reported him to Merseyside Police. Negoescu was arrested and later convicted of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and attempting to cause a child to watch sexual activity.
Pleaded not guilty, but found guilty by a jury. Judge Louise Brandon stated he showed no insight or remorse. Also given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and required to sign the sex offenders' register for life. One prior conviction for drink-driving in 2023.

Alex McDonald, from Plane Close, Walton, Liverpool, Merseyside, first messaged a decoy posing as 13-year-old Amber on Kik on February 9, 2021, asking if she wanted a tribute (a type of sex act someone films and sends). Despite her stating she was 13, he sent pictures and videos of his penis, lied that he was 16, and encouraged her to perform a sex act. Messages stopped on March 19, 2021. Police visited his home a week later, his mother identified him from selfies, and devices were seized. He attended a voluntary interview on September 20, 2021, admitting his actions were unlawful.
Pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to cause a child aged 13 to 15 to look at an image of sexual activity, and attempting to cause a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity. Ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders Register and comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.

Alan Healey, then aged 17 and 18 in the late 1980s, targeted a vulnerable nine-year-old boy in care at a children's home in south Liverpool. Aiden Peel, 24, of Mersey Road, Aigburth, Liverpool, downloaded a Secret Camera Recorder app, placed his phone in a bathroom to secretly film an unsuspecting woman using the toilet, undressing for a shower, and towelling dry. The 16-minute video was discovered by chance by his girlfriend after he returned heavily intoxicated from a night out. The footage was kept for five or six weeks. No evidence of sharing the video.
Found guilty of voyeurism after a trial. No previous convictions. Judge noted significant degree of planning, gross invasion of privacy, and rejected claims it was a prank. Medium risk of harm. Five-year restraining order and 10 years on Sex Offenders Register also imposed.
