Daniel Boulton
Murder *
Sentence
Life imprisonment with minimum term of 40 years
Daniel Boulton, 30, walked 28 miles from Skegness to the home of his ex-girlfriend Bethany Vincent, 26, and her nine-year-old autistic son Darren Henson in Louth, Lincolnshire, on 31 May 2023. Subject to a restraining order after previous complaints of domestic violence, Boulton loitered outside their home in High Holme Road for hours before breaking in and stabbing both victims to death with a knife, motivated by an irrational fear and hatred related to the child's autism. He left his own nine-month-old son unharmed at the scene. After the murders, Boulton fled, leading police on a 24-hour manhunt, during which he committed burglary by stealing food, alcohol, and clothing, and assaulted an off-duty police officer by stabbing him in the leg before being arrested at a farm in Hallington.
Denied the murders and claimed loss of control, but jurors dismissed the defence. Also sentenced to 21 months for assaulting a police officer and 32 months for burglary, to run concurrently. Judge commented on his violence, manipulativeness, and ongoing risk of further violence or homicide.
