On 3 January 2025, Veselin Dudenski, a 39-year-old van driver from Cherry Avenue, Branston, Lincs, was working as a sub-contracted delivery driver when he attempted a dangerous overtake on the B1202 at Metheringham Heath in a hidden dip, ignoring road signs and markings. His white Citroen Relay van collided head-on with a blue Kia car driven by Jamie Gascoigne, carrying his seven-year-old daughter Elsie as a rear passenger, who were returning home from shopping and visiting McDonald's around 5.45pm. Dudenski had previously overtaken a Ford Ranger safely but then overtook another unknown vehicle unsafely. Jamie Gascoigne tried to evade but the collision was unavoidable, resulting in Elsie suffering a broken neck and dying in hospital the next morning, while her father sustained serious injuries including a permanent elbow disability, flashbacks, and nightmares. A witness confronted Dudenski, saying 'you killed a kid.' Dudenski claimed he paused and mistook the location, believing the dip was further along, despite 17 years of clean driving experience.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury. Concurrent 22 months for injury offence. Banned from driving for 8 years and must take extended retest. Liable for automatic deportation.

On New Year's Day 2025, David Wiatrowski, 36, from Bradford Road in Boston, began a crime spree by smashing the window of Aldi in Queen Street. He was caught on CCTV filling a drinks bottle with petrol at a garage forecourt, which he used to create a Molotov cocktail. He threw the petrol bomb at a responding police officer, but the glass did not break. Wiatrowski then pulled out an imitation gun, cocked it, and ordered the police back into their cars, approaching one vehicle before the officers reversed away. He escaped towards Friars Gate and was arrested at home on January 10.
Found guilty after a three-day trial in July. Stated he was 'bored of life, feeling depressed'.

On March 27, 2025, Hussein Elyas, a 20-year-old drug dealer from Lindrick Drive, Evington, Leicester, approached a victim in Ashby Square, Loughborough town centre, around 7pm and stabbed him in the back with a knife, causing life-threatening injuries by cutting the victim's liver and one kidney. The victim required emergency surgery and still struggles with mobility. Elyas walked off but was spotted by police on Frederick Street, ran, and was found hiding in a garden on Arthur Street with the bloodied knife and possessing heroin and crack cocaine. The attack was unprovoked and occurred in a public area with witnesses present.
Pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm, possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, and having a knife in public. Initially charged with attempted murder. First 10 years and 9 months in custody, then transferred to adult prison until 22nd birthday, followed by release on licence.

On 4 October 2023 at approximately 3.20pm, George Rowledge (28), an inexperienced driver who had passed his test only seven months earlier, was driving a white Peugeot Boxer van at the A52 junction with the B1394 near Swaton. He attempted to cross the A52 from Swaton village but failed to see an oncoming grey Mercedes-Benz E Class, colliding with its rear. The impact caused the Mercedes to strike a silver Citroen Xsara head-on. Passenger Lamara Sneddon (19) in the Citroen died three days later from her injuries. Three others, including Sneddon’s parents, suffered serious injuries. Rowledge remained at the scene and admitted fault to witnesses. He had a passenger in his van.
Pleaded guilty at first opportunity. No points on licence. Passed driving test seven months prior. Good visibility at scene; unsafe manoeuvre. Stephanie McLaggan fatally stabbed her ex-partner Gillian Connelly during a heated argument at a friend's house on Wheeldon Street in Gainsborough in the early hours of July 28, 2024. McLaggan, aged 39 and previously of North Warren Road, took a kitchen knife and stabbed the 44-year-old victim, piercing her artery just below her heart. The wound was described as devastating with no chance of survival. Gillian died shortly after being taken to hospital. Following the stabbing, others attempted to cover up the crime by moving the body to the street, but CCTV footage and forensic evidence, including DNA on a kitchen knife, linked McLaggan to the murder.

Matthew Marvill, a 41-year-old from Dorothy Avenue, Skegness, committed various sexual offences against children over a three-year period in the Chapel St Leonards area. These included sending images of his genitals, engaging in sexual talk, and performing sexual acts in front of his victims. He was caught and pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.
Pleaded guilty to multiple sexual offences. Detective Constable Carla Sutton commented that he acted in a wholly inappropriate manner and performed appalling acts.
Jason Bickford
Attempted Robbery *

Jason Bickford, of Honington Approach, Lincoln, targeted a man in his 70s on a mobility scooter in Baggholme Road, Lincoln, at around 7pm on August 13, 2024. He pulled at a bag the victim was holding, causing the victim to fall and sustain life-changing injuries. While the victim was on the floor, Bickford punched him in a cowardly and unprovoked attack. The victim defended himself with walking sticks, and Bickford fled without obtaining anything. He was identified through CCTV footage, arrested on August 26, 2024, and the case was investigated by Lincolnshire Police with support from various teams before being authorised for charges by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Charged with attempted robbery; the victim fought back using walking sticks. DC Claire Rose led the investigation and highlighted the victim's bravery, noting that justice has been served.
Harvey Emmingham

Harvey Emmingham, 23, stabbed a man in his 40s in the back while riding an e-bike in Gainsborough on February 18, 2025, around 00.30am on Trinity Street and near Dickenson Terrace. The victim was walking with his partner when Emmingham, who knew the victim, made threats, rode past multiple times, and then attacked from behind before fleeing. The incident was captured on CCTV, showing Emmingham disguising himself and arming himself with a knife prior to the attack. Police located him at a property in Bob Rainsforth Way, arrested him, and linked him to the crime through footage and witness statements. The victim required hospital treatment for the stab wound.
Pleaded guilty to the offences at a hearing on August 4. He was remanded in custody following initial charges.
Zoe Watts
Attempting to manufacture a firearm *

Zoe Watts, a former police community support officer, attempted to manufacture a firearm using a 3D printer at her home in Lincoln. She was found to have a stockpile of weapons, including knives and a crossbow, as well as parts for two firearms. Police discovered her concerning internet searches related to weapons and arrested her in December 2024. This case marks the first of its kind in the UK for this offence.
Found guilty of attempting to manufacture a weapon; pleaded no comment during interview and claimed the weapons were toys. Issued with a forfeiture destruction order and will be subject to a serious crime prevention order for five years after release.

Danis Voldoka repeatedly sexually assaulted a woman in the Boston area between May 2024 and June 2024. The offences were described as abhorrent, and he was apprehended and sentenced after pleading guilty, with the victim praised for their bravery and commitment to justice.
Pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault. Handed a restraining order and added to the sex offenders register for 10 years. DS Katherine Brennan described the actions as abhorrent.
Ben Cairns
Sexual assault of a child under 13 and assault by penetration *

14 years imprisonment and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order
Ben Cairns committed seven non-recent sex offences against four girls under the age of 16. The offences included six counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration. They took place between 2014 and 2020, during which he gained the trust of the victims and their families to prey on their vulnerability.
Found guilty after trial. The victims showed incredible strength and determination in reporting and supporting the investigation. Cairns is described as a sexual predator who abused the trust of the victims and their families.
Jutyar Jelal Salah
Possession of illegal cigarettes and hand rolling tobacco *

Jutyar Jelal Salah, 36, formerly of Severn Road, Spalding, owned and operated Easy Shop on Station Street in Spalding. The premises received closure orders in September 2023 and April 2024 after raids found illegal cigarettes. After eviction, he sold cigarettes from his car and was later caught retrieving over 77,000 illegal cigarettes and 16kg of hand rolling tobacco from storage with intent to deliver to customers. He had previously received a 10-month suspended sentence and £18,428 costs order.
Found guilty after persistent offending following a previous 10-month suspended sentence. Judge noted no prospect of rehabilitation and that offences were committed soon after the suspended sentence.
