Darren Barnes repeatedly sexually abused a young girl aged between eight and 11 over a four-year period. The abuse started with touching her clothing and progressed to more serious incidents, including asking her to remove her clothes, showing her pornographic movies, offering £40 in cash and giving her a mobile phone to groom her. It included one incident of oral rape. He silenced her by telling her she would be in trouble and God would not forgive her. The abuse ended when she reached puberty and asked for it to stop. She reported it to her mother in 2012 but did not want to proceed at the time. In 2014, his wife reported it to the church and he made partial admissions. In 2017, over 200 indecent images of children were found on two laptops at his home, including movies of distressed and tied-up children.

After smoking crack cocaine and drinking, Lodge repeatedly stabbed the victim three times with a butterfly knife (thigh, chin and back) before the couple pushed him into a nearby river. Lodge also assaulted police officers during arrest.

He blamed the breakdown of a long-term relationship. He had no previous convictions in the UK or Poland.

On 29 June 2024, Fiona Phippen was driving her Nissan Qashqai at speeds up to 51mph on the A1 near Grantham when she left the road and careered across the forecourt of Foston Services without braking. She struck Urwah Tanveer, 20, who was standing next to her family's Mercedes, causing catastrophic injuries from which she died in hospital the next day. Tanveer's grandmother, Samina Idris, 83, inside the vehicle, was seriously injured. CCTV showed the collision and Tanveer's brother jumping out of the way. Phippen had been on a video call that ended 38 seconds before impact and 32 seconds before she left the A1. She later admitted causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. No mechanical faults were found with her vehicle.

Following a police raid on his home, a laptop was seized, and he voluntarily confessed at Grantham Police Station. His then-wife later discovered and handed over a second laptop hidden in the attic. Anthony Fiddler, 38, of Recreation Road, Bourne, Lincolnshire, engaged in sexual communications with a 15-year-old boy between 17 May 2021 and 24 May 2021, and caused him to watch a sexual act on 24 May 2021. He attempted sexual communication with decoys posing as girls aged 12 and 14 between 24 May 2021 and 25 May 2021, and attempted to incite a 14-year-old girl to engage in a sexual act. He also made 124 category A, 86 category B, and 630 category C indecent images of children between August 2000 and November 2020. Fiddler contacted the boy via a gardening advert, requested pictures from decoys, sent a sexual image, and was caught meeting a decoy at Bourne Abbey Church where police were present. Indecent images were found on his phone.

Johannes Stephanus de Klerk, 42, of Westlode Street, Spalding, repeatedly breached a restraining order. He appeared for sentence at Lincoln Crown Court after being remanded into custody. Judge James House KC sentenced him to 19 months imprisonment for each of the four breaches (to run concurrently) plus a further two months consecutive for breach of the suspended sentence order.

John Kinsella

Martial arts expert and boxer John Kinsella, 43, from Mile End, Everton, was convicted of robbery and dangerous driving after he and three others stole £41,000 worth of detergents, crisps and Easter eggs from a haulage depot in Grantham, Lincolnshire. He fled the scene at speeds of up to 130mph in a police pursuit. He absconded before the jury returned its guilty verdict and was sentenced in his absence to 13 years for the robbery, 12 months for dangerous driving, and three months for breaking bail conditions.
Absconded before conviction. Granted leave to appeal sentence. Known associate who intervened to stop a gangster intimidating footballer Steven Gerrard.
Kamil Gziut
Actual bodily harm with intent to commit a sexual offence *

Kamil Gziut was in the process of sexually assaulting a woman in her early 20s on Albion Street in Spalding in November 2021 at 5.30pm. He overpowered her and dragged her onto a grassy area. Three teenagers intervened, causing him to flee. He was later charged with attempted rape, robbery and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm with intent to commit a sexual offence.

Jacob Mizio
Inflicting grievous bodily harm *

Jacob Mizio, working as a doorman at the XO nightclub in Spalding, pushed customer Mateusz Ignas to the ground outside the Westlode Street premises on a date prior to May 2022. CCTV showed a hard shove to the left shoulder causing Ignas to fall face first onto the pavement, resulting in multiple fractures to the left side of his face, a black eye, broken nose and lost tooth. A second push caused Ignas’s cousin to fall on top of him. Ignas was celebrating the birth of his child and had not been causing trouble. Mizio, of Double Street, Spalding, was ordered to pay £1,920 compensation and complete 10 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
Pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm. No previous convictions, family man who had shown remorse. Judge noted victim had not been aggressive and that Mizio, as door staff, should have known a drunk patron is more vulnerable. Unlikely to return to security work.
Jason Hildred
Attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child *

Jason Hildred began swapping messages with decoys he believed were a 12-year-old girl called Dani on Chat Avenue in November 2020, then on WhatsApp, trying to instigate sexual conversations. He also contacted another decoy he thought was an 11-year-old girl called Izzy, again attempting sexual conversations. Later in 2021, while on bail, he was caught by a police decoy pretending to be a 14-year-old girl. Arrested in June 2021.
Pleaded guilty to three offences of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child. Ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years and made subject of a sexual harm prevention order. Prior conviction in 2013 for attempting to meet a girl aged under-16 following sexual grooming. Offended while on bail.
Jay Savage
Placing an article with intent to cause belief it would explode *

On 13 November 2022, Jay Savage threw a bottle containing vinegar, hydrochlorite bleach and tin foil into the Lincolnshire Poacher pub in Spalding to make others believe it would explode. A warning phone call was made to the landlord. The bottle would have released chlorine gas if opened. Savage, of no fixed address, had previously warned the pub would be 'off the grid' after issues involving his former partner.
Pleaded guilty. Also pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm, possessing cannabis, theft, stalking, threatening to cause criminal damage and two breaches of a non-molestation order. High risk of harm to the public noted. Restraining order made.
Jamie Barton
Breaching Sexual Harm Prevention Order *

Jamie Barton, of Spring Street, Spalding, was released from prison in May 2024 under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order after prior convictions for sexual communication with a child and engaging in sexual activity with a child under 16 at Norwich Crown Court in December 2022. He was caught using Facebook under the alias 'Tom Green' and accessing Facebook Messenger and Snapchat, in breach of the order. Monitoring software on his phone alerted authorities. He admitted the breaches, claiming it was a 'moment of stupidity' and that he had no friends and was seeking company. None of the contacts were children.
Admitted two charges of breaching the terms of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order and failing to notify a change in the use of his name. Recorder Simon King stated courts must take breaches seriously and that Barton represents a real potential risk.
Jamie Twigg

Jamie Twigg, 43, of Jellicoe Avenue, Lincoln, systematically targeted a child victim, subjecting them to a campaign of eight rapes (including two counts of child rape) and two severe sexual assaults between 2014 and 2023 in private domestic settings. The abuse robbed the victim of their childhood. Lincolnshire Police's Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit investigated, leading to his conviction.
Pleaded not guilty. Convicted after an eight-day trial. Also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and an indefinite restraining order.
James Shawley
Attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity *

James Shawley contacted a covert police officer posing as a 14 year old boy on a dating site between December 8 and 23, 2019. He sent sexually explicit messages and arranged to meet the 'boy' at a cinema in Huntingdon with the intention of having sex. Caught in a sting operation and arrested in December 2019. Formerly of Hereward Street, Bourne.
Denied four charges but found guilty by jury after three-day trial. Placed on sex offenders register for life, barred from working with children for life, 15 year sexual harm prevention order. Judge noted implausible defence and loss of career and hobby.
Tiberiu-Lucian Grozav

Tiberiu-Lucian Grozav carried out an unprovoked attack on a work colleague in Spalding on August 25, 2023, after blacking out during a night of drinking. He punched the victim in the face on St John’s Road, causing three fractures around the victim's right eye socket. The victim later attended hospital and lost a day's pay. Grozav, of Lancelot Way, Spalding, admitted the offence and had secured a place at the London College of Contemporary Arts.
Admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm. Demonstrated remorse and had stopped drinking. Judge noted single punch caused three fractures around victim's right eye.
Trevor Robinson
Breaching anti-social behaviour order *

Trevor Robinson, 79, of Martin Close, Skellingthorpe, breached his 2014 anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) prohibiting possession of child’s prams, pushchairs, soft toys etc. on three occasions: spotted with a pram in Trelawney Crescent, Lincoln on 6 March 2024; seen with a pram containing a dressed dog toy in Cuckoo Walk, Witham St Hughs on 18 May 2024 while behaving inappropriately; pram found in boot of car on Saxilby Road, Lincoln on 20 June 2024.
Pleaded guilty to breaching his anti-social behaviour order on three occasions. Has 26 previous convictions for 49 offences including outraging public decency. A new Criminal Behaviour Order prohibits him from having a child’s pram, push chair, soft toys, and entering the village of Witham St Hughs. Recorder Mark Ainsworth noted his failing health.
