DNA linked him to the crime after he sexually assaulted another woman in her home on 10 September 2021, where he had delivered a parcel as a Hermes driver and returned for coffee before assaulting her.
Pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault and one count of rape. Judge described him as a 'sexual predator' and a danger to women.

The offence was reported at the time but no suspect was identified until a cold case review in 2023 matched his DNA.

He appeared before magistrates on 14 September 2021 and faced trial in March 2022.
Found guilty after trial of rape of a child under 13, causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and sexual activity with a child. Served with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and made to sign the Sex Offenders Register. Previously convicted of sexual offences at Durham Crown Court in 2008 under the surname Hume and sentenced to 18 months.

Irfan Hanif Patel, acting as a sole trader, purchased counterfeit Abel and Cole cranberry sauce in December 2020 and supplied it to his brother Mohammed Patel, director of Stock Up Direct Limited. The company supplied over 1,000 jars to a wholesaler, reaching food businesses including in Kirklees. Neither had registered food businesses with Kirklees Council, trading illegally without hygiene inspections. Premises inspected, food seized and destroyed under Kirklees Magistrates’ Court order in February 2021. Sauce confirmed counterfeit by Public Analyst and trademark holder.
Pleaded guilty to offences under the Trademarks Act 1994 and a number of food hygiene offences, including failing to register a food business. Timetables under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 set; confiscation hearings pending. Previously convicted in 2008 for selling expired goods by faking use-by dates.

He requested and received indecent images and directed poses. His devices contained child abuse images. Arrested on 30 June 2018 at Manchester Airport returning from Thailand.
Admitted one count of arranging/facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, three counts of attempting to cause/incite a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and one count of making an indecent image of a child. Also given a five-year sexual harm prevention order and required to sign the sex offenders register for life. Prosecuted under section 72 of the Sex Offences Act 2003.

Jarnail Bassan's now dissolved company, LHC Asset Management Ltd, helped source over 275 tonnes of mixed household, commercial and industrial waste and leased the site on Duncombe Road, Bradford, where it was illegally stored between January and March 2017. Robin Hood Group Ltd had control of the operation. Despite claims of intending to ship it abroad to burn as fuel, the vast majority remained on site. Inspections by Environment Agency officers started in March 2017 following a report from Bradford Council.
Ordered to pay £200 per month. Judge Batty said Bassan had been guided principally by his nephew (Sagoo) and had been reckless.
