During the early hours of April 24, 2025, police responded to drones spotted flying over HMP Highpoint in Stradishall, Suffolk. Officers found Kai Fraser, 25, of Lodore Gardens, Edgware, London, in a field about half a mile from the prison, holding a drone controller with a drone by his feet and a large package of drugs and mobile phones attached to one of the machines. Fraser fled but was arrested after a short chase through the fields. All items, including the drones, were destroyed.

On August 25, 2024, Jamie Birch, of Foresight Road, Colchester, drove a Vauxhall Combo van at speeds of up to 78mph on 30mph roads while evading police, overtook vehicles on the wrong side of the road, failed to stop at red lights or junctions, drove with lights down on country lanes, threw drugs from the window, and stopped in a layby where he was arrested for dangerous driving and production of a controlled substance.
Recorder Jeremy Benson noted both offences crossed the custodial threshold but mitigating factors presented by defence lawyer Simon Connolly were considered.

From February 2023, Luke Large exchanged messages of a sexual nature with a child he did not know, who stated she was 13 years old. He told her he was depressed and asked for nude images and videos, claiming he would otherwise harm himself. The communication was reported to officers in November 2023. After inquiries by South Wales Police, Large was identified at an address in Stowmarket, arrested, and electronic devices were seized. The investigation found images of the victim shared to other messenger accounts, and indecent images of children saved from the internet, including 11 category A images, 11 category B images, and one category C image, as well as extreme pornography. Further analysis showed another app used the previous year to save and share photos, videos, and persistently ask an unknown female for nude images.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of a child and one count of engaging in sexual communications with a child. Made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. Will take part in a rehabilitation activity programme. Described as an 'abhorrent individual' who used blackmail to obtain nude images.

Kenneth Bischoff, 66, of Colchester, Essex, placed hidden cameras on his shoelaces and used other equipment to secretly film under the clothing of women he knew and trusted, as well as couples through hotel windows. This behaviour, part of a fetish, involved taking 704 photos and videos dating back to 2016. Victims, including women who regarded him as a grandfather figure, reported feeling shocked, sickened, and violated, with one reading a victim impact statement in court.
Admitted to one charge of voyeurism and five counts of recording an image under clothing without consent. Judge David Wilson described the offences as a gross betrayal of trust and noted the scale, duration, and catalogue of the offending. He had previously received a suspended sentence and a caution for voyeurism in the early 2000s.

On August 10, 2024, Daniel Martin, 29, of Felix Road, Felixstowe, struck Charlie Greaves, 25, of Ipswich, in the face following an argument about Mr Greaves' dog not being on a lead during an incident on Felixstowe seafront by Undercliff Road West. Mr Greaves fell backwards, hit his head, and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He was unconscious and treated by paramedics but died the next morning at a home in Carr Road, Felixstowe. Martin was arrested on suspicion of murder on August 12, 2024, and convicted of manslaughter on May 13, 2025.
Initially charged with murder, charge reduced to manslaughter. Denied the offence but was convicted by a jury.

Mahmut Dagdelen engaged in social housing fraud over a six-year period by submitting false housing applications to Ipswich Borough Council, claiming household income less than £15,000 per year and inability to afford private lodgings, while privately renting and owning three commercial properties bought outright in 2016. He obtained temporary accommodation from April 2017 to January 2018, then a three-bedroom council house. The fraud was discovered in July 2023 when he applied to buy the property under the Right to Buy scheme, revealing his mortgage and savings. A fingerprint and phone evidence linked him to a cannabis factory in London Road, Ipswich, discovered in April 2024, containing 373 cannabis plants worth over £180,000. Phone evidence also connected him to another factory in Langer Road, Felixstowe, found in June 2024 with 81 plants and harvested cannabis. He was arrested on February 6, 2025, in the West Midlands with items used in cannabis cultivation. He admitted knowledge of the Ipswich grow.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the production of cannabis. Initially pleaded not guilty but changed plea in June. Judge ruled he was in contact with individuals managing both factories and at least as involved as Esat Dashi.
Alex Stokes

Alex Stokes, a 32-year-old man from Northamptonshire, met a 15-year-old girl and her friend at the Latitude Festival at Henham Park near Southwold on July 23, 2022, at 11pm. He falsely claimed to be a security guard, though he was actually a steward who had been dismissed earlier that weekend for failing in his duties and should not have re-entered the site. The girls informed him they were 15 and had consumed alcohol. They spent time with him in a music tent where he gave them more to drink. Afterwards, Stokes had penetrative sex with the victim. The girls escaped by saying they needed to use the toilets. A festival-goer noticed their distress, and the victim disclosed the incident. At the welfare tent, the safeguarding lead called the police. Stokes was identified as the suspect on July 25, 2022, via a social media video and arrested two days later by Northamptonshire Police. He was bailed with a ban on contacting the victim or her friend. Charged in November 2023 after a year-long investigation.

Thomas Jeffery, 35, of Horseman Court in Martlesham Heath, smashed at least 17 shopfronts in Ipswich town centre using a skateboard on the evening of April 30 to May 1, 2025, causing nearly £100,000 in damage. Damaged premises included Barclays, Honey & Harvey, Lush, EE, Time2Vape, Central Canteen, Zest, The Falcon pub (twice), Premier, Subway, Observatory Opticians, Choices Healthcare, plus two unknown properties and a resident’s premises. He was arrested at Major’s Corner during the early hours of May 1, with officers called to the scene at 12.40am. Originally charged with 17 counts, one charge was withdrawn. He was in breach of a Community Behaviour Order from October for threatening words or behaviour and another from November for criminal damage.
Admitted 16 counts of criminal damage. Found in breach of Community Behaviour Order. Ordered to pay £50 or face five days in prison. Forced to pay £154 surcharge. Time already served on remand.

Nigel Moyes, 62, formerly of Primrose Way, Ipswich, committed stalking causing serious alarm/distress and two counts of arson. The stalking escalated into dangerous and destructive behaviour, including arson.

On November 3, Andrew Wickenden was riding an uninsured and unregistered electric powered unicycle along the Felixstowe seafront promenade with a loudspeaker playing, weaving between pedestrians. The device was not permitted for use on public roads or spaces. He collided with a two-year-old girl playing with her family, fracturing her skull and causing a bleed on the brain. The child was hospitalized, made a full recovery but requires ongoing check-ups. Wickenden claimed the child ran into him.
Pleaded guilty to all charges. Also banned from driving for 18 months and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and pay £239 in costs.

Mirhat Nela, an Albanian national of no fixed abode, was stopped by Suffolk Police’s Sentinel West team in Newmarket on February 2, 2025. Police discovered 13 sealed bags of cocaine hidden in an empty deodorant container in his car. Further examination of his phone revealed evidence of drug dealing activities since January 2025.
Pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A Drugs. Evidence of drug dealing was found on his phone, showing activities since January. Sergeant George Laflin noted the misery caused by illicit drugs in the community.

Hamid Gjoka was stopped by officers from the Sentinel South team on 7 April. When searched, he was found with 12 small bags of cocaine, £800 in cash and an iPhone. Keys found on him led to a Wherstead Road address where police discovered a further 341 bags of cocaine and 3.8 grams of bulk cocaine. Police also found a counterfeit Bulgarian ID card bearing Gjoka's photograph but with a different name, plus a Western Union receipt showing the fake identity had been used to send money to Albania in April. Phone records revealed Gjoka had been supplying cocaine since at least 30 March.
Pleaded guilty. Of no fixed abode. Received no separate penalty for possessing criminal property.

Kieran Hibble was riding a motorcycle over the speed limit in Queen Street, Colchester, in May 2024, when he collided with an 84-year-old pedestrian, causing serious injuries that required urgent hospital treatment. Additionally, he was found to have breached multiple court orders, including using multiple devices to contact prohibited individuals and riding motorcycles without a licence in restricted areas.

In a second incident in mid-November 2023 in Southwold, a woman in her 80s was convinced to hand over bank cards and PINs, leading to £37,000 transferred to a fraudulent account and purchase of 4 x 1kg gold bars worth over £210,400 collected by couriers, plus an attempted further purchase of 6 x 1kg gold bars for £316,000. Saheb was arrested on November 30, 2023, when collecting gold.

Dermot Bradley-Beacham's Russian Terrier escaped from his home on August 5 due to an insecure garden fence and bit a child under 13 on the leg, causing a serious injury that exposed the bone. The child was initially taken to West Suffolk Hospital and then to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for surgery, and was released two days after the incident. Bradley-Beacham admitted knowing the dog was not friendly to other dogs or children and that the fence was insecure.
Pleaded guilty to being the owner in charge of a dangerously out of control dog causing injury. Had prior problems with the dog, which was destroyed after the incident.

Members of the public and emergency services tried to save her life, but she died in hospital.

Stephen Richard Gallagher, 59, of Colchester, Essex, was convicted at Ipswich Crown Court on 30 May 2024 of 10 child sex offences including three counts of rape, two of sexual assault, two of sexual activity with a child, two of indecent assault and one further sexual assault. The abuse began to come to light in 2016 when a woman reported to Essex Police that she had been sexually abused multiple times by Gallagher during her childhood. Further victims then came forward, revealing a pattern of historical sexual abuse. Gallagher attempted to financially and emotionally manipulate his victims to maintain silence. Arrested in 2016, he denied all allegations and accused victims of fabrication. On November 23, 2023, Ryan Leggett, 35, of Lowestoft Road, Carlton Colville, stabbed his 33-year-old female partner eight times after she returned home early from work at 1am and discovered him naked in bed with another man and a plate of cocaine. She confronted him, saying 'what the hell is going on? It’s disgusting', prompting the other man to leave. Leggett took her phone to prevent her from telling others, pushed her over in the kitchen, held a knife to her throat, and later followed her upstairs with two knives, stabbing her in the neck, chest (causing fractured rib and punctured lung), cheek, upper arm, hand, and abdomen (damaging liver and causing internal bleeding). He locked her in the house and left her to die, but another resident raised the alarm. Leggett was arrested later that day at his father's home after self-surrendering with self-inflicted wrist wounds. The couple had been in a relationship for four years, separated in March 2023, but reconciled months later.
Convicted of attempted murder by jury in September; pleaded guilty to threatening a person with a knife in a private place.
