The crimes had a profound impact on the victims and their families, with one victim's father reporting severe emotional distress, including difficulty sleeping and anxiety about leaving his daughter alone.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of rape of a child under 13, two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, one count of possession of extreme pornographic footage, one count of possessing a prohibited image of a child, and six counts of making an indecent photograph of a child. Mitigating factors included his age (17 at the time), mild learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorder, and history of bullying. The judge described the offences as 'disturbing' and 'quite shocking'. He was also placed on the sex offender register, issued a restraining order, and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
