He also threatened a police dog handler and dog. Armed officers confronted him in a local park, shooting him in the abdomen to end the threat. He was arrested after hospital discharge and posed a significant risk to the community.

Pleaded guilty to the charges in September 2024. The sentence relates to section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, section 20 grievous bodily harm, affray, possession of an offensive weapon (crossbow), and possession of a bladed article in a public place. Two other charges, criminal damage and cultivation of cannabis, will lie on file. Judge comments praised the courage of officers involved.
