On the evening of Friday 14 January 2022 in Margate town centre, Ethan Broderick-Porter ran up behind a man in his 60s in Queen Street, dragged him to the ground and, with Charlie Parker, kicked the man in the head and back causing multiple injuries. Broderick-Porter later returned to Queen Street, punched another man causing a cut to the face, then punched a third man at least three times causing cuts to the face. While being arrested, he kicked a police officer in the face causing facial injuries.
Admitted attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault and assaulting an emergency worker.

Fabio Maloku, 22, was one of three men found trying to escape from a disused commercial property in School Lane, Ramsgate, fully converted into a cannabis cultivation site discovered by Kent Police on 1 June 2023, with over 1,000 plants, drying mature plants, 291 lamps, fans, heaters and bypassed electricity supply. Plants valued at £105,000 to £540,000.

On 25 January 2023, an 18-year-old man was walking with a friend in Benstead Grove, Faversham, when a vehicle was deliberately driven at them. The victim ran to St Paul’s Avenue seeking help and was pursued by Troy Gosden and Kai Theodule from the car. Theodule struck the victim with a rubbish bin and punched him several times. The victim suffered a punctured lung and cuts, requiring surgery. Theodule was detained on 30 January 2023.

Joszef Papp, a Hungarian lorry driver, was involved in smuggling 30 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of £2.4 million through Dover Docks. Border Force officers discovered the drug packages hidden in the HGV—10 in a fridge in the cab and 20 in holdalls. The conspiracy was uncovered when the lorry failed to stop at the exit checkpoint. Papp and his co‑defendant collected the cocaine from a contact in France and planned to deliver it in Hertfordshire. Both admitted the offence.

Joshua Plant took his friend’s car without permission on Friday 13 October 2023 and, from around 11.30pm, attempted to break into a number of properties in the Cliffsend area of Thanet. He managed to break into a home in Beech Grove, stealing a handbag and a watch, but his actions were caught on CCTV. He was detained at around 12.30am, assaulting an officer during the arrest. The stolen watch was found near him and the vehicle was located crashed in a field near Nash Road.
Admitted charges of aggravated vehicle taking, burglary, assaulting an emergency worker and eight counts of attempted burglary. Disqualified from driving for 683 days.
Jordon Randall

In May 2016, Jordon Randall sent messages via Snapchat to a 13-year-old schoolgirl, agreed to meet her in a carpark in Gillingham, drove her to a secluded wood where they had protected sex, then blocked her on social media. Around the same time, he groomed a 14-year-old schoolgirl, received a topless photograph from her, and blocked her. He was arrested after an anonymous tip-off. The primary victim was traumatised, self-harmed, went missing, and contemplated suicide.
Admitted having sex with a 13-year-old and encouraging another victim to swap images. Judge Heather Norton described it as 'systematic grooming' designed to improve his self-worth. Defence cited his immaturity and 'Peter Pan Complex'. Prior release from prison mentioned.

Josh Thomas, 33, was involved in the 'J' county lines operation distributing heroin and cocaine in the Canterbury region. Officers apprehended him on February 14th near Ashford with significant cash and a concealed lock knife. A search of his Canterbury home found 23 grams of amphetamine, scales, cling film, eight additional knives, and a mobile phone linked to drug sales containing marketing messages sent throughout December and January.
Admitted to charges including supplying heroin and cocaine, possessing an offensive weapon, and possession of amphetamine. Part of the 'J' county lines drug operation.

John Andrew, a 43-year-old from Folkestone, was found with LSD, MDMA, heroin, cocaine and cannabis. In May 2019, Kent Police executed a warrant at a property in Harbour Way, Folkestone, finding amphetamine, cannabis and drug dealing equipment; Andrew was arrested. In September 2019, police searched the property again, finding heroin and cocaine on him, plus MDMA, LSD, amphetamine and cannabis inside. He was charged with nine counts in May 2020 but was caught again in June 2020 acting suspiciously in Dover Road, Folkestone, carrying amphetamine.

John Fletcher, 50, from Bexhill-on-Sea, committed six counts of burglary and 10 counts of fraud by targeting gyms in Ashford in January and February 2023, and a gym in Eastbourne on 10 February 2023. CCTV showed him slipping through turnstiles into changing rooms, sometimes with a woman distracting staff. More than £1,000 was stolen and over £2,000 spent using stolen bank cards. Further CCTV linked him to spending the cards in shops. He was arrested on 24 February near Tunbridge Wells after police stopped a linked car.

Jordan Nicholl, 32, from Folkestone, and his brother were supplying drugs on a large scale between March and June 2020 using the encrypted Encrochat phone system. Evidence stemmed from a police stop on 9 May 2020 in Deal, where officers seized an encrypted phone and £315,000 in cash from a blue Renault Megane; his fingerprints were on several bundles. Further checks showed he had travelled close to the exchange location. He was arrested on 23 November 2020 during warrants at his home.

Jordan Piper, 31, sprayed graffiti tags on multiple properties in Folkestone starting on Wednesday 3 June 2020, including a guest house in Cheriton Road, a residential property in The Parade, two vans in Brockman Road on 3 and 4 June, outside Sainsbury’s on Park Farm Industrial Estate on 12 June, and other locations such as Castle Hill Avenue, Middleburg Square and Sandgate Road. The graffiti caused £51,000 in damages. He was identified via CCTV, arrested at his home on 24 June 2020, and items including spray cans, clothing, sketch books, paint pens and artwork were seized.
Pleaded guilty to twenty counts of criminal damage.

John Morony committed indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14 in Broadstairs in the 1980s. Kent Police was contacted in 2019, leading to his arrest in Dorset in February 2020.

John Reading and Levi Smith attacked a man following an argument at the bar in a pub on Church Road, Willesborough, Ashford on 15 August 2019. The victim had entered the pub for a pool tournament but was approached by Reading and Smith, who began an argument. They followed him as he tried to leave; Smith punched him in the face, Reading repeatedly hit him, knocking him down. The victim was punched, kicked in the face, put in a chokehold, and Reading dropped a fire extinguisher on his back. Reading was arrested on 2 October 2019.

John Richards, 48, from Whitstable, subjected a woman and a teenager to years of abuse. He regularly exposed the woman to harmful and degrading behaviour, controlling her life, speaking to her derogatorily, dictating how she should act and behave, who she could speak to, and distancing her from her family. His behaviour worsened when drinking; on one occasion, he hit her in the face with her dinner from the oven claiming it was dried out. He also directed abuse at a teenage girl, leaving vicious messages on her phone threatening to harm a family member. Victims reported to Kent Police in 2022; Richards was arrested in September.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of coercive and controlling behaviour and actual bodily harm.

James Hammacott and Sam Marshall were in a Mercedes van suspected of being linked to drug dealing, stopped by Kent Police on the A299 Thanet Way near St Nicholas-at-Wade on 1 February 2023. Officers found two packages of cocaine, each weighing more than a kilo, and a shoebox containing more than £25,000 in cash.

On 25 April 2020 in the Thanington area, Cockering Road, Canterbury, he threatened to 'burn out' a man living in a shed, poured petrol on its step, and was found with smoking paper and a lighter.

On 21 July, at a property in Hereson Road, Broadstairs, he and another man fled but were detained; cocaine, cash and mobile phones were seized. His phone contained messages evidencing drug dealing.

Possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence *

James Richardson, 32, formerly from Dymchurch, fired a BB gun at a man during a confrontation near Brookland on Tuesday 6 April 2021, hitting the victim's hand with ball bearings after asking his name. He fled in a white Mercedes. Arrested two days later at his home, where police found ingredients for making anabolic steroids and a small amount of cannabis. A photo of a similar BB gun was on his phone, and he had consistent injuries.

Jamal Elkhadir, 47, from Morocco, attempted to smuggle 39 migrants, including a 6-year-old boy and a teenage girl, out of the UK in the back of a refrigerated lorry. He met accomplice Houcine Argoub in a layby near Sandwich, Kent, in September 2023. Migrants were seen climbing into the lorry, which was intercepted at Dover docks by NCA officers. Elkhadir claimed he was delivering cherry tomatoes and later said he was threatened at gunpoint.
Pleaded guilty to assisting unlawful immigration. Driver of the Moroccan registered HGV.
James Bates
Causing grievous bodily harm with intent *

On the evening of 24 November 2017, James Bates deliberately drove his silver Vauxhall Corsa into a crowd standing outside a New Romney pub. He had been thrown out of the pub minutes earlier for picking fights. He then circled the block to accelerate before slamming the car into the building’s front door area, directly striking drinkers. Seven people were injured, including one man who suffered severe fractures to his leg and arm after being hit head-on.
Pleaded guilty to one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and six counts of attempted grievous bodily harm. Attack was pre-meditated after he was ejected from the pub for causing trouble; he drove around the block to build up speed before ramming the crowd.

James Clark, 26, from Whitstable, carried out multiple online offences targeting vulnerable young people between December 2020 and January 2024. Detectives from Kent Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team led the investigation.
Pleaded guilty to multiple offences including nine counts of attempting sexual communication with a child, three counts of attempting to make a child watch a sexual act, three counts of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, three counts of publishing an obscene article and making and distributing indecent images of children. Made subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

In September 2019, Kent Police stopped Jaisha Williams' car in Dover. Police dog Charlie found 60 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine hidden in the car's air vents, worth up to £1,200, along with £800 in cash. Analysis of his phone revealed he was running a county lines drug supply operation in the Dover area.

The money was spent on luxuries including expensive dental treatment, cars, caravan, holidays, and other items.

Jed Coates, along with Matthew Sales and Thomas Pearson, attacked the victim with a kitchen knife, a chain and a wooden bat in Cheriton Road, Folkestone, at around 11.50am on 25 August 2020. Coates hit the victim with a wooden bat. The victim was taken to hospital with stab wounds requiring long-term treatment. The attack was witnessed by members of the public, including a young girl. Coates was arrested at a nearby property on the same day.

Jessica Silvester
Conspiring to burgle *

Ruth Lambert and Jessica Silvester preyed on terminally ill residents in Thanet, Canterbury, Whitstable, Faversham and Herne Bay, posing as nurses to steal morphine and other painkillers prescribed for end-of-life care. They used access to patient records from their work as paramedics with South East Coast Ambulance Service. They worked in tandem, one researching addresses and the other stealing. Offending spanned nine months from December 2020, with at least 25 burglaries. They also stole medication from ambulances and NHS reserves between 2018 and 2021.
Pleaded guilty to conspiring to burgle and conspiring to commit theft.

Jimmy Gilheaney attempted to break into a house in Ashford on 10 October 2020, burgled another property in Ashford the same day stealing over £2,000 in cash, burgled a house in Folkestone on 11 October 2020 stealing cash and jewellery worth more than £10,000, and burgled a home in Westgate-on-Sea on 12 October 2020 stealing foreign and British currency, designer handbags and jewellery. The offences were linked by CCTV, doorbell footage and a grey BMW used by Gilheaney and an accomplice.

Jo Bath, 46, and Stuart Holland, 45, both of Union Street, Canterbury, attacked a man in his late fifties in his home in Fleetwood Avenue, Herne Bay, on the evening of Saturday 16 March 2019. They used homophobic language, hit the victim on the legs and head with a fire poker and wooden truncheon, and forced the poker into his mouth before stealing his wallet and fleeing when police were called.
Admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and theft. Sentence included terms for drugs and theft offences committed between December 2019 and October 2020.

Jobe Norton, 20, from Canterbury, became involved in a dispute between two known men in the Sussex Avenue area of Canterbury at around 4pm on Thursday 9 April 2020. He went into his home, came out with a firearm, pointed it at a number of people including a pregnant woman, and threatened: ‘I’m going to kill you all.’ Aware police were coming, he left the scene, was later stopped driving in Herne Bay, and arrested by firearms officers. The weapon was not recovered and it is unclear whether it was an imitation.

Joe Scott burgled a property in Linden Grove, Canterbury on 19 July 2022, entering while residents were asleep and stealing a laptop and purse containing bank cards. He used the stolen bank cards four times to buy cigarettes, alcohol and scratchcards, totalling nearly £400. On the same day, he committed shoplifting offences stealing meats valued at more than £130. Additional charges included shoplifting razors and alcohol worth £265 on 26 June, stealing hanging baskets on 16 July, more meat products totalling £352 on 19 July, and fraud using a stolen bank card on 27 June.
Pleaded guilty to burglary and fraud. Admitted theft, three shoplifting offences, and further fraud. Suspended sentence for previous offending activated.

Between 14 July 2022 and 6 March 2023, Jamie Broadmore stole more than £55,000 worth of agricultural equipment from farms and businesses in Allhallows, Shorne, Sandling, Gravesend, Southfleet and West Malling, Kent. He used recovery trucks to steal items including a Ritchie Cattle Handling System (£20,000), Spearhead Topper (£19,000), Pottinger Hay Tedder, barrels of Adblue and ratchet straps (£16,000), and cattle hurdles and post knocker (£10,000). He sold the stolen items fraudulently, claiming they belonged to his late uncle's family farm. Evidence included ANPR footage, phone location data and photos of stolen equipment.
Admitted five burglaries, two thefts and two frauds. Charged with six burglaries, three thefts, two frauds, acquiring criminal property and failing to provide a sample for a drug test.

Jamie Kennedy from Herne Bay blackmailed children into sending indecent images and sexually assaulted several girls. He sent obscene messages knowing they were underage, showered them with gifts to manipulate them, and threatened to share screenshots unless they sent intimate photographs. Arrested on 17 January 2022 and charged with rape, sexual assault, two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, making indecent photographs of a child, and two counts of possession of indecent images of a child. Nine further charges added during trial: two more counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, one more count of making indecent images of a child, two more counts of sexual assault, indecent assault, and three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child.
Pleaded not guilty at Canterbury Crown Court on 9 May 2023, found guilty on 8 September 2023 after trial. Additional charges added during trial. Must serve at least two thirds before parole eligibility. Subject to three-year extended licence on release and Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.
Jason Campbell
Causing serious injury through dangerous driving *

On Monday 25 January 2021, Jason Campbell was travelling over 60 miles-per-hour, twice the speed limit on Broad Oak Road, Canterbury, which meant he couldn’t stop his car quick enough to avoid colliding with a man who was crossing the street after coming around a corner. Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit discovered that Campbell had tried to brake but was driving too fast. The pedestrian was rushed to hospital with broken ribs, a broken shoulder, numerous other fractures to his arms and legs, and required an emergency blood transfusion.
Admitted to the charge. Banned from driving for three-and-a-half years and must re-take driving test.

Between 2007 and 2018 Jason Robson committed a catalogue of serious offences against a child including holding a knife to their throat, forcing their head into a toilet, pushing them down the stairs, a number of sexual offences, punching and kicking them on numerous occasions. Crimes reported to Kent Police in June 2020; arrested shortly afterwards and charged.
Denied all allegations but found guilty of child cruelty and five child sex offences following a trial.

Jason Scott set fire to clothing in a bedroom of a flat in the Dover Road area of Deal on 30 August 2020 using a cigarette, after the occupant had asked him to leave the property and he refused. The occupant and her relative were forced to leave the flat as it filled with smoke and they helped to evacuate elderly neighbours before the fire was extinguished. The fire caused serious damage to the property as well as affecting the flat above. Scott was arrested at the scene.
Pleaded guilty to arson. A 10-year restraining order was imposed, banning him from contacting the victim or her relative and from going to her home.

Adam North, 41, from Willesborough in Ashford, sexually abused two children from a very young age on numerous occasions from 2010 and regularly physically attacked them, including strangling. The victims reported the abuse to police in 2019, leading to North's arrest and charges following an investigation by the Canterbury Vulnerability Investigation team.
Denied the offences and was convicted by a jury of eight counts of sexual assault and two counts of assaulting a young child.

Adam Woolnough, 36, was invited to stay with a friend in Browning Place, Folkestone, but subjected the victim (in his 50s) to multiple threats. On 1 October 2020, he punched the victim in the face several times for around five minutes. When the victim sought help from a church community worker, Woolnough waited, threatened him with a hammer, kicked and punched his head and body, then held a bread knife to his throat, causing fear for his life. The victim suffered a hand injury escaping. Police were called; Woolnough was detained en route to the church and spat at the officer.
Pleaded guilty to charges of actual bodily harm, threats to kill, possession of a bladed article and assault of an emergency worker. Of no fixed address. Behaved aggressively and spat at the arresting officer.
Abdul Malik

Abdul Malik assaulted a man at a property in High Street, Dymchurch, in the early hours of Wednesday 12 January 2022, inflicting more than 10 wounds with a kitchen knife. The victim managed to run from the property, got into a car to drive away but collided with metal barriers nearby, and was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries. Malik was arrested by police in nearby Burmarsh Road.

On 10 June 2022, a second Belgian-registered van driven by 61-year-old Abraham Schrier from Goes in the Netherlands was stopped at the Channel Tunnel terminal in Folkestone half an hour after the first van containing 74 kilos of heroin and 128 kilos of cocaine. No drugs were found in his vehicle, but an electric drill set, socket and bolts matching those recovered from the panelling on the first van indicated his involvement in concealing the drugs. He initially denied involvement during interviews.
Found guilty by a jury following an eight-day trial.

Adam Fleming carried out a violent assault on a woman at his address in Ramsgate on Monday 11 January 2021. He called 999 downplaying her injuries. Paramedics found her with a serious head injury and extreme bruising to her face; firefighters assisted in bringing her down the stairs. She was airlifted to a London hospital. Fleming claimed he found her like that and heard a thud, denying involvement. He was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
Admitted to the charge in September 2021. Caused life-changing injuries including multiple breaks, a bleed on the brain; victim put into an induced coma.
Alec Rivers

Alec Rivers, of Firs Lane in Folkestone, breached his Sexual Harm Prevention Order multiple times by approaching a family, engaging children in football conversations, persistently inviting a child to play football, inviting them to a London football match at the Emirates Stadium, inviting a child to look at his shed, and inviting a child inside his flat. Behaviour began in 2015, escalating by 2017, causing distress to the family. Discovered during routine police inspection when he admitted playing football with a child. Cleared of two other charges.
Found guilty of six breaches of Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Judge Mark Weekes labelled him a predatory and manipulative paedophile. Prior conviction for sexually assaulting a minor in 2010. Expressed remorse in mitigation.
Aleksandar Kuzmanovic

Aleksandar Kuzmanovic, 27, from Austria, was stopped at Dover Eastern Docks where he was a passenger in a lorry travelling from Belgium. Border Force officials searched the cab and found a bag containing cling film packages with almost five kilos of heroin (purity 38-53%), worth at least £238,000 at street level. He admitted at the scene the drugs were his and his wallet was in the bag. He stated he believed they were cannabis and was transporting them to pay off debts.
Pleaded guilty to attempting to import a class A drug. National Crime Agency investigation. Stopped at Dover Eastern Docks as passenger in lorry from Belgium.
Alessio Giovannetti

Alessio Giovannetti (36), from Italy, attempted to smuggle 70 kilos of ketamine and 20 kilos of mephedrone worth £2 million into the UK by hiding the drugs in voids around the cab of his HGV carrying lettuce and in his mattress. His truck was stopped by Border Force officers at Dover on 29 May 2021.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting to import class B drugs.
Alex Bull

Alex Bull and Oliver Lee assaulted a man in his fifties and stole £40 from him after he refused to buy Valium tablets from them on the evening of 30 January 2020 in Oxford Street, Margate. They approached the victim, demanded money when refused, followed him, pushed him to the ground, punched and kicked him, ripped his shirt taking £20, took his phone squeezing it hard, returned keys but phone only after another £20. Identified and arrested the following day.
Pleaded guilty to robbery. Aged 39, of no fixed address.
