Wayne Palmer, 41 and homeless, terrorised a woman in Folkestone over several days in late 2018. On 30 November 2018, he entered her home, grabbed her handbag and demanded money, causing her and friends to hand over £20 out of fear. The next day, he returned, banged on the door threatening to kick it down, and once inside grabbed the victim's wrist and shoved her against a wall after she said she had no money. On 10 December, he returned again, shouting and banging at windows. The woman barricaded herself in a bedroom, but Palmer broke in, smashed the front door and forced his way inside, obtaining more cash before she called the police.
Pleaded guilty to burglary, assault, and criminal damage. Also given a restraining order preventing contact with the victim.

On 26 January 2019, Williams attempted to steal meat from Co-op in Cheriton High Street, Folkestone, and punched a staff member who confronted him. Two days later, he stole chocolates worth over £100 from Tesco on Foord Road, threatened a pursuing staff member with a lock knife, and cycled away. The same afternoon, he stole candles from Clinton Cards on High Street and punched another staff member. On 1 March 2019, he targeted Boots on Sandgate Road, shoving a security guard and threatening to use his knife before escaping. An hour later, he stole chocolates from Tesco Express on Bouverie Road West. He was arrested that afternoon on Bellevue Street with a knife in his pocket.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery, attempted robbery, two counts of theft, and two counts of carrying a knife in public. Detective Constable Graham Wilkinson stated: 'Williams showed blatant disregard for the law, putting the public and shop staff at risk.'

Zack Bradley punched DJ Fat Tony (Tony Marnach) twice, knocking him unconscious, at The Lido in Cliftonville, Margate, in the early hours of December 14, 2024, during a gig. Fat Tony suffered fractures to his eye socket and cheekbone, required facial filler, spent a night in A&E, and cancelled six gigs. Bradley had taken cocaine and turned himself in days later.

On 27 July 2018, Robert Luff, 49, knocked on a neighbour's door in Canterbury demanding a hammer, claiming people in his home were under attack. When told there was no hammer, he grabbed two knives from their kitchen drawer. He then went to another nearby house, banged on their back window, and asked the residents to call police while standing in their garden holding the blades. Officers arrived to find him shouting and acting aggressively. During his arrest, Luff pushed a police officer to the ground and kicked her in the leg. The knives were seized and he was taken into custody, unable to explain his behaviour. He pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article in public and assaulting a constable.

Robert Mills met his victim in New Romney one evening in August 2019 before they walked back to his home in Greatstone. Mills had offered to walk the woman home but instead led her through the woods to where he lived and once inside locked the door and raped her. The woman was terrified after Mills had shown her he was carrying a knife, but she managed to escape from his property following the attack and ran home to safety during the early hours of the morning. The incident was reported to Kent Police straight away and Mills was arrested the same day.
Convicted of two counts of rape following a trial. Denied allegations and showed no remorse.

Robert Nelson Neill, a 62-year-old resident of Folkestone, Kent, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offences against children. The predatory paedophile was found guilty at Canterbury Crown Court of raping a child under the age of 13, alongside five counts of sexual assault, one count of inciting sexual activity with a child, four counts of making indecent images, and one count of taking an indecent image. These crimes, described in court as monstrous, were committed between January 2011 and October 2014, targeting two young victims. Neill, residing at Castle Hill Avenue in Folkestone, pleaded not guilty to all charges during his trial. Despite his denials, the evidence presented led to his conviction. Judge Heather Norton imposed the 20-year custodial sentence, extending it by an additional four years on licence, meaning Neill will remain under strict supervision upon any potential release. In a comprehensive ruling, the judge also placed Neill indefinitely on the Sex Offenders' Register and issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, further barring him from any work or voluntary roles involving children. The investigation was led by Detective Constable Rebecca Thomas of Kent Police, who commended the victims' courage.

On 7 January 2019, they targeted a teenage boy at a bus stop in London Road, Dover, luring him to Templar Street, pulling a knife, and stealing cash and phone. Berko also committed burglaries: stealing electrical items from a house in Leighton Road on 11 December 2018, and stealing a key from a property in De Burgh Hill on 18 January 2019.

Romans Gzibovskis attempted to hide 16 kilos of cocaine in the battery area of an HGV carrying empty plastic pallets. He was stopped by Border Force officers at Dover’s Eastern Docks on 24 August. Officers scanned the vehicle and noticed an anomaly in the external battery compartment. The large HGV battery had been removed and replaced with smaller car batteries wired together, with the cocaine placed in the space left between them. The cocaine was estimated to be worth approximately £650,000 at street level.

Seized phones showed evidence of drug supply and videos of the pair showing cash and drugs.

He was also convicted of fraudulently claiming taxi fares and repeatedly skipping court appearances on bail. He was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court to two years in a young offenders' institution.

The recipient was a Kent Police investigator from the Paedophile Online Investigation Team. He was arrested at his home on 8 January 2019.

Between 7 and 13 December 2017, Robert Jenner, while working as a parcel delivery driver in Maidstone, deliberately exposed himself to customers by wearing altered clothing. The following month he targeted a supermarket in Larkfield, entering twice wearing trousers with the crotch cut out so that he was blatantly exposed. Visitors to Leybourne Lakes Country Park also witnessed Jenner running around in see-through shorts near families.
Convicted of 10 counts of indecent exposure. Placed on the sex offenders' register for 10 years and issued with a 7-year criminal behaviour order. Jenner claimed to be a naturist but had manipulated clothing to deliberately expose himself, targeting locations where children were present, causing fear, distress and anxiety to victims.

Raymond Wallace attacked a man with a metal rod which had a sharpened edge in a flat in Dalby Square, Margate, in the early hours of Friday 11 February 2022. The victim sustained serious injuries consistent with stab wounds and was taken to a London hospital where medics provided life-saving treatment. The motive for the attack is unclear but witness accounts suggested it may have resulted from a grudge Wallace had formed against the victim. Wallace was identified as the assailant and arrested the following day.

He made her believe that he loved her and raped her at his then-home and carried out sexual acts on her in his car. The victim approached Kent Police in 2017, leading to his charge in November 2019.
Convicted after trial of one count of rape and three counts of indecent assault. The 55-year-old was previously of Clarendon Street, Dover.
Reid Gawler

Reid Gawler repeatedly stabbed a woman following an argument at a flat in Sturry near Canterbury on 21 September 2020, leaving the victim with life-threatening head and neck injuries. Kent Police were called to River View at 1.25am after residents heard shouted threats and doors being kicked. A neighbour provided first aid before police and paramedics arrived. Gawler had left the scene, overheard saying 'I’ve killed her', and was quickly arrested nearby. The knife used in the attack was recovered from the property he fled to. The victim was hospitalised and discharged suffering long-term effects. Prior arguments between Gawler and the victim were reported.

Richard Scaife, 46, of Camden Crescent, Dover, arranged to meet a woman working as a sex worker at a flat in Tontine Street, Folkestone, on the afternoon of Friday 5 November 2021. He grabbed her by the throat, told her he had a knife, raped her, then retrieved an imitation firearm from his jacket, locked the door, and raped her a second time. The victim convinced him to leave, then phoned police who arrested him as he drove away. A small folding knife, bayonet, imitation firearm, and duct tape were found in his car; further weapons including a knuckleduster, samurai sword, machete, and imitation firearms were found at his home.

On 15 December 2019, Kent Police responded to reports of a suspicious man wearing only a burgundy jumper lurking near Thanet Road in Margate. Officers found 51-year-old Ricky Neville hiding in bushes. He attempted to flee but was quickly arrested. Neville confessed he had recently been freed from prison and deliberately went out intending to perform an indecent act in public. He was convicted of outraging public decency and breaching a sexual offences prevention order that prohibited him from removing clothing in public and entering parks, gardens, churchyards, or woods.

Rennie Ash was pulled over by officers in Margate on 15 March 2019 after his Ford Transit van was spotted without a valid MOT certificate in Millmead Road. Officers found a large block of cocaine worth around £20,000, two bags of cannabis, cash and a knuckleduster in the vehicle. A search of his home in Belmont Road, Broadstairs uncovered a further £40,000 in cash. Messages on his phone showed he continued drug dealing while under investigation.
The 49-year-old from Broadstairs admitted possessing an offensive weapon, criminal property and two counts relating to class A drug dealing.
Reuben Daley

Reuben Daley, 43, from Folkestone, hit his victim up to 30 times with a hammer during an assault outside a pub in Harbour Way, Folkestone, on Thursday 6 February 2020. He followed the victim back into the pub and continued the assault. A member of the public took the hammer from Daley before he fled. He was arrested three days later. The victim lost consciousness and suffered cuts to his face and head.

On 13 March 2020, outside a supermarket in Station Road, Westgate-on-Sea, he drew a knife while attempting to enter before opening, cutting a shop worker's finger. On 23 March 2020, he stole £700 worth of cosmetics from a store in Margate High Street. Identified via CCTV showing distinctive striped trousers and arrested on 24 March 2020.

Richard Collins, 39, from Ramsgate, and Craig Dunn robbed a man in his 70s at The Leas, Folkestone, around 10.20am on Tuesday 11 July 2023. They followed the victim after he withdrew more than £2,200 cash from a bank in Sandgate Road, placed it in his bag, and tracked him along the street. Collins ran at the victim, threatened him with a clenched fist, demanding the bag. Dunn grabbed the bag, snapping its handles, and they fled laughing. Collins was also sentenced for a second robbery in Ramsgate in October 2022.

Ruben Smith was part of a group in New Street, Folkestone, on the afternoon of 6 October 2022. Smith took offence to comments made by Anthony Armstrong, who was walking with friends, and punched him in the face. Mark Green then continued the assault, causing Armstrong to fall backwards and hit his head on the ground. Smith and Green left the scene but were identified and arrested the same day. Armstrong, aged 49, was unconscious, flown to a London hospital, and died three days later from his injuries.
Aged 19, from Folkestone. Admitted causing actual bodily harm and affray; found not guilty of manslaughter following a trial.

Ruth Lambert and Jessica Silvester preyed on terminally ill residents in Thanet, Canterbury, Whitstable, Faversham and Herne Bay, posing as nurses to steal morphine and other painkillers prescribed for end-of-life care. They used access to patient records from their work as paramedics with South East Coast Ambulance Service. They worked in tandem, one researching addresses and the other stealing. Offending spanned nine months from December 2020, with at least 25 burglaries. They also stole medication from ambulances and NHS reserves between 2018 and 2021.
Pleaded guilty to conspiring to burgle and conspiring to commit theft.

Ryan Bragg was arrested when officers carried out a warrant at his property in Moat Lane near Canterbury on Monday 21 November 2022. A phone found at the property contained messages showing it had been used to arrange drug deals. Bragg attempted to flee through a window but was detained.

He also admitted to burglarising three businesses on 15 July: a farm shop in Birchington, a Co-op in Broadstairs, and another shop on George Hill Road, Broadstairs. He was arrested on 16 July 2019 in Margate.

Ryan Nicholl, of Folkestone, together with others used the EncroChat encrypted communications system to exchange messages with organised criminals to buy and sell large quantities of drugs. The network was infiltrated by police. An investigation linked the group's activity to an encrypted mobile phone and £315,000 in cash seized following a car stop in Deal in May 2020. Analysis of messages showed the sale of more than 30 kilos of cocaine organised through EncroChat, with photographs of illegal substances shared before prices agreed. Nicholl was arrested on 23 November 2020 when warrants were executed at Folkestone addresses by Kent Police.

Ronnie Mead approached a delivery driver aggressively in Chaucer Road at around 12.55pm on Thursday 14 April 2022, grabbing him by his top whilst shouting and swearing. He took the keys to the vehicle, climbed in and drove off despite the man's attempts to stop him. The van was tracked using its device and stopped in Godden Road where Mead was arrested surrounded by half-opened packages. He was also in possession of the driver's wallet.

Robert Reddin, 70, was arrested at his home in St Mary’s Bay, Romney Marsh on 11 June 2018 during a Kent Police investigation into indecent images of children. Police found indecent images on his laptop and uncovered sexual messages he had sent to people he believed to be children as young as 11, including adults he hoped would help him meet children. He encouraged them to engage in sexual acts, send pictures and meet him.

During their relationship, he put a tracker on her phone, controlled how she dressed, who she could be friends with, monitored her social media contacts and made her change her job. He subjected her to an assault and caused damage to her home. After they separated, he bombarded her with text messages and calls, culminating in a threat to attend her home in October 2022. When police attempted to arrest him by leaning into his vehicle to take his keys, he drove off, injuring the officer’s arm.

Samuel Geza broke into two properties in East Cliff in the early hours of Wednesday 7 July 2021, stealing computers, cash and bank cards. One of the burglaries was reported shortly before 6.30am that day and enquiries established a stolen bank card had been used to purchase scratch cards in a nearby shop. A PCSO recognised Geza from CCTV at the store. Geza was arrested at 8.45am that morning and some of the stolen goods were found in his possession, along with the scratch cards purchased with the stolen card.
The 24-year-old from Dover admitted two counts of burglary and two counts of fraud at Canterbury Crown Court.
Sasha Mazouz

On Sunday 19 June 2022, Sasha Mazouz followed his victim into a public toilet on Canterbury Lane and – as the victim left the cubicle – pushed him back inside and attempted to assault him. The victim escaped before the situation escalated any further and notified the police. Officers located and arrested Mazouz, 45, of Charlotte Street, Folkestone at the scene. During the arrest, the offender made repeated attempts to engage in inappropriate language with an attending male officer. He was charged with committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence and assault.
Pleaded guilty to both counts. Some of his sentence has already been served accounting for time spent on remand. Subject to notification requirements for 10 years.

Scott Barham carried out an attempted break-in at a property in Conyer near Sittingbourne on 7 October 2023, smashing a window but leaving empty-handed after a dog barked. On the evening of 28 October 2023, a car was stolen from the Forty Acres area of Canterbury and used to reverse into the front of a newsagents in St Stephen’s Road, from which a large number of cigarette packets were stolen. Sam Crew, along with Ryan Fountain, committed a series of 19 offences including house and business break-ins and car thefts across Thanet between 24 June and 16 July 2019. He broke into a house on St Michael's Avenue and was involved in aggravated vehicle-taking. He also admitted to burglarising three businesses on 15 July: a farm shop in Birchington, a Co-op in Broadstairs, and another shop on George Hill Road, Broadstairs. He was arrested on 16 July 2019 in Margate.
Pleaded guilty to five offences including a house break-in on St Michael's Avenue and aggravated vehicle-taking. Of Arlington Gardens, Margate.

Sam Marshall and James Hammacott were in a Mercedes van suspected of being linked to drug dealing, stopped by Kent Police on the A299 Thanet Way near St Nicholas-at-Wade on 1 February 2023. Officers found two packages of cocaine, each weighing more than a kilo, and a shoebox containing more than £25,000 in cash.
Pleaded guilty to possession of class A drugs with intent to supply and possession of criminal property. Aged 32, from West Sussex.

Sam Murphy, from Selling, and a teenage boy set fire to a car belonging to a relative of a teenage girl who had been the victim of harassment by the boy, near a house in Whitstable in the early hours of 5 July 2020. They smashed a window, poured a flammable liquid inside, and ignited it. Kent Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire before it spread. CCTV identified them, and they were arrested the same day in a vehicle containing petrol canisters and the crowbar used.
Admitted arson. A five-year restraining order was put in place, preventing contact with the victim or her family.

Sam Wood produced a blade at the County Hotel, Ashford, on the evening of Thursday 29 July 2021, threatening people and behaving erratically. Kent Police attended around 11.45pm, arrested him in the beer garden where he showed them a bag containing the knife and a small quantity of cannabis. He became aggressive when led to a police van, spat at officers, and attempted to headbutt one. He also caused criminal damage to a prison cell.
Pleaded guilty to affray, possession of a knife in a public place, assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage to a prison cell and possession of cannabis. Immediately recalled to prison for breaching the terms of his licence in relation to a separate conviction.
Sean Mcnamara

In May 2014, Sean McNamara knocked on the door of Olivia Cunnington in Norfolk Road, Canterbury, claiming he had kicked his football into her back garden and asking, 'Can I have my ball back please?'. When she went to look, he entered the house and stole a brand-new sat nav. He was then seen in a neighbour's garden, where he dropped a bag containing the stolen sat nav and his passport. He later returned to demand the bag. Police were alerted and arrested him. He denied the offence, claiming he had never been to Norfolk Road, owned no passport, and had bought the sat nav from a lookalike friend named Tom.
Three-strike burglar; used a child's ruse to gain entry; previous three-strike conviction in 2011. Defence cited dysfunctional background and tough prison conditions. Judge acknowledged sympathy but emphasised choice to continue offending.
Serhat Yalcin

Serhat Yalcin and Agid Yalcin assaulted a victim in his sixties in Canterbury city centre's High Street on Tuesday 1 September 2020. The victim had been using a cashpoint at around 1am when he was followed by the two offenders, one of whom barged into him. He swung his hand at one of the two men before he was knocked to the ground by Agid. Both men then spent around 15 minutes repeatedly kicking, punching and stamping on the victim as he lay stricken on the ground, leaving him with serious head and arm injuries which required extensive hospital treatment. Police arrived after the incident was seen by a CCTV operator and officers arrested both men at the scene.

Serhii Tukalo

Serhii Tukalo's lorry was stopped by Border Force at Dover’s freight terminal in May. An x-ray revealed anomalies in the load of air compressors and pressure washers from Northern Italy. Officers found 20 kilo blocks of high purity cocaine hidden in boxes, worth around £1 million if sold in the UK. Additional items seized included two phones, a SIM card holder with a UK phone number note, and paperwork showing a 2021 French conviction for attempting to smuggle Albanian migrants into the UK. Phone data showed images of UK and Ukrainian bank notes and limited contacts on the extra SIM.
Jury took just two hours to find him guilty. Maintained no knowledge of the drugs but evidence including phones, SIM card, and prior French conviction for migrant smuggling was presented.
Seth Proctor

20-month suspended sentence and 200 hours unpaid work
Seth Proctor was entrusted with the finances of an elderly couple after they sold their house in 2011 and moved into a care home. His job was to ensure accommodation fees were paid. Between 2013 and 2015, he stole over £125,000 from their savings. When the money ran out in January 2015, he contacted Social Services for assistance. Kent Police charged him with theft in March 2017. He admitted the theft but claimed he used the money to fund failed business ventures.
Pleaded guilty to theft. He claimed he used the money to fund failed business ventures. Confiscation order of £21,666 imposed; faces 12 months imprisonment if not paid within three months.
Shane Howland
Causing death by dangerous driving *

Shane Howland was driving his VW T-Cross on the A2 near Shepherdswell on 19 May 2021, when he hit a patch of water and skidded off the road, smashing into a tree. His passenger, 22-year-old Denny Wiltshire, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit found that Howland was driving at more than 78mph, exceeding the 70mph speed limit. They also calculated that if he had been driving at or below the limit, he would have been able to stop before hitting the tree.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.
Shane Myles

Shane Myles approached a man in his 70s in George Lane, Folkestone on 15 June 2021, asking for 20p to phone his mother. When the victim took out his wallet, Myles snatched it and ran off. He then used the stolen bank card to buy vodka, hair gel and other items in a shop in Dover Road, Folkestone. The card was stopped before further use. He was arrested following CCTV investigation by Kent Police’s Chief Constable’s Crime Squad.
Of no fixed address. Admitted theft and fraud. Identified by CCTV footage wearing a blue, red and white hooded top.
