Sentence: 5 years imprisonment
Charles Linsey, 30, of Brick Lane, Mepal near Ely, tracked his wife through her phone, tracking devices, and cameras installed in their home, forcing her to spend most of her time confined to one room to avoid being tracked. His obsession began in 2022, initially with her agreement to a phone tracker, but escalated to deleting her social media contacts, keeping lists of her passwords and visits, logging into her devices, viewing photos and messages, installing a car tracker, and using home cameras to monitor her constantly. When she tried to turn cameras away, he threatened to report her for criminal damage. She moved out in April 2024, but he continued hacking her WhatsApp, watching her over the fence, and in May 2024, became angry seeing a friend at her home, banging on the door, shouting abuse, and scratching the friend's car. Later that night, he appeared outside shouting for her and started abusive messages and calls. He remotely accessed and deleted evidence she had gathered for a non-molestation order. Upon arrest, police found a firearm, knives, and notes on hacking and coding at his home.
