On August 7, 2020, at the Mad Hatters campsite in Queen Adelaide near Ely, Ryan Harrowing punched his father several times to the head and chest following an argument. He then put two of his children into his Volkswagen Golf and drove recklessly between tents and on grass footpaths like a rally driver. He swerved to avoid hitting a mother who stood in front of a tent to protect her sleeping children, knocking off her flipflop. Police detained him nearby. Two of his own children were in the car at the time.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. History of mental health issues and no recollection of the incident but pleaded guilty due to remorse.

Bernadette was sent to stay with Scott's parents on 17 July, and after the murder on 18 July, Sarah received a call from Scott and helped concoct a story. She waited until 21 July to report Bernadette missing and sent messages from her phone to simulate she was alive.
Convicted of perverting the course of justice by covering up the girl's death, including sending messages from her phone to pretend she was alive and delaying reporting her missing until 21 July.

Ernest Drevenak, 46, of Howard Avenue, Bedford, began exploiting 16 victims from the Czech Republic in 2015 by trafficking them to the UK under false promises of work and accommodation. The victims, who were homeless, unemployed, or in low-paid jobs, were forced to work up to 70-100 hours a week at a McDonald’s in Caxton, Cambridgeshire, and a factory in Hertfordshire and London supplying supermarkets. Drevenak controlled their wages, paying them only £40-120 every two weeks while keeping the rest, estimated at least £200,000 over four years. He confiscated passports, used violence and fear to control them, provided overcrowded and substandard accommodation, and fraudulently claimed tax credits in their names. The exploitation continued until police were tipped off in 2019.
Found guilty following a trial on six counts of holding a person in slavery or servitude, five counts of arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view to exploitation, and fraud by false representation.

Veronika Bubencikova, 46, of Upper Cambourne, along with Ernest Drevenak, began exploiting 16 victims from the Czech Republic in 2015 by trafficking them to the UK under false promises of work and accommodation. The victims were forced to work excessive hours at a McDonald’s in Caxton, Cambridgeshire, and a factory supplying supermarkets, with wages paid into accounts controlled by the couple. They received minimal cash payments while the couple retained the majority, stealing at least £200,000. The couple provided poor living conditions, including overcrowded homes and a leaking shed, confiscated passports, monitored victims via CCTV, and committed benefit fraud by falsely claiming tax credits. The operation ended in 2019 after a police tip-off.
Found guilty following a trial on six counts of holding a person in slavery or servitude, five counts of arranging or facilitating travel of another person with a view to exploitation, and fraud by false representation.

David Richens, of Townleye Avenue, Accrington, approached a woman loading items into her Audi A3 on Midland Road, Peterborough, on September 9, 2018. He pushed her to the ground, climbed into the driving seat, and drove off at 10.20am. At 10.36am, he drove the stolen car through a road closure onto the A1 carriageway, smashing through plastic barriers. Road workers warned others and blocked his path with vehicles, stopping him just before reaching 50 workers half a mile away. He claimed the car was his and said 'I’m MI5’s best agent'.
Found guilty after standing trial. Detective Constable Tom Adams commented that Richens had no consideration for anyone else when he drove a stolen car recklessly.

Christopher Bayliss, aged 44, from Cambridge, hacked into his former partner’s dating and social media accounts and sent hundreds of threatening messages, including contacting the victim’s daughter. Over two days he sent 92 WhatsApp messages, left 71 voicemails and made 32 unanswered calls. On 15 November he confronted the victim at her home demanding money and she transferred £25. The next day he returned at 4am banging on the door and threatening suicide. He also made false allegations to her workplace. He was arrested on 2 December.
Found guilty after trial. Issued with a ten-year restraining order. Additional charges of controlling behaviour and a further stalking offence left on file.

Callum Andrews, dealing drugs for the 'Culture' county line, cuckooed a property on Balfour Road in Dover. On 6 October 2020, he stabbed a rival he suspected of dealing for a rival gang in the chest, shoulder and hands with a large knife. The victim suffered serious wounds, collapsed nearby and was flown to a London hospital for life-saving treatment. Andrews fled by taxi to Ashford, then train to Ebbsfleet, and was driven from Kent. He was arrested on 12 October 2020 in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, with DNA evidence linking him to the scene.
Found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) for the Dover offence (13 years) and sentenced concurrently for another GBH offence investigated by Bedfordshire Police. Of no fixed address. Aged 22.

On 16 October, officers visited his home, checked his iPhone, noticed gaps in search history, seized it, and forensic examination revealed more than 300 deletions.

The operation was selling cocaine in Rutland and South Lincolnshire.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine. Arrested as part of a national operation to combat county lines drug dealing.

Elton Townend-Jones, 51, of Church Road, Walpole St. Peter, Wisbech, raped and sexually assaulted a schoolgirl over a five-year period beginning in Cambridge in 2015 and continuing until 2020. The offences came to light when a relative of the girl saw something suspicious and called police, leading to his arrest in June 2020. He denied the offences in his first police interview and answered no comment in his second. Jurors found him guilty of 11 counts: three counts of rape; two counts of assaulting a child under the age of 13 on at least 10 occasions; one count of assaulting a child under the age of 13 on at least five occasions; one count of assault by penetration on at least five occasions; three counts of sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 on at least five occasions; one count of sexual activity with a child on at least five occasions.
Stood trial and found guilty of 11 counts including three counts of rape. Sexual Harm Prevention Order and restraining order imposed indefinitely. Must serve two thirds of sentence before being considered for release.

He was arrested inside the property with the screwdriver; a hammer was found in his bag and keys to the victim's car in his pocket.

Stephen Cody

On 21 May 2021, Stephen Cody took a car without consent in Suffolk and drove to Cambridgeshire. The next day, police located the vehicle in the Queen Anne Terrace multi-storey car park in Cambridge. At about 12:20pm on 22 May 2021, Cody deliberately drove the car at officers on numerous occasions, injuring two – one requiring hand surgery. He was arrested at the scene. The investigation also revealed that he had committed two sexual assaults, two batteries, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of a knife and affray in the Hadleigh area near Ipswich and in Cambridge. He had pleaded guilty to two further counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a police officer and dangerous driving.
Also given an extended licence period of 4 years, total 13 years under supervision. Pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a police officer and dangerous driving; convicted by jury of aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of battery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of a knife, and affray.
Micheal Smee

Micheal Smee, a former PE teacher and football coach from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, raped a child aged under 13 years old and committed five further counts of sexual activity with a child. The offences occurred between January 2013 and April 2016. He abused his position of trust to groom the victim over a significant period.

Judge David Farrell QC described taking advantage of young women as totally unacceptable.

Richard Chipperfield, 39, of Wood Lane, Ramsey, locked his former partner inside their caravan and held a pillow over her face so she could not breathe during an attack in February 2025. He told her: “If I was a woman, I would have killed you.” Police were called on 15 March the previous year after a mental health helpline contacted officers. Chipperfield had become increasingly controlling, checking her phone and following her to the toilet.
Admitted false imprisonment and intentional strangulation. Victim left living in fear due to violent and coercive behaviour; checked her phone and followed her to the toilet.

Levi Loveridge, 32, of Whittlesey Road, March, was driving a black Volvo V40 at 91mph on a 60mph-limit stretch of North Bank at Thorney when he crashed into an oncoming Toyota Yaris at about 12.45am on June 29, 2025. The impact caused serious injuries to the Toyota's driver (shattered thigh bone requiring surgery) and passenger (fractured back and hip). Loveridge fled the scene but was arrested five days later. He admitted driving but claimed limited memory of the incident.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Also disqualified from driving for three years and must take an extended test.

Louie McKillop, 24, of Hammonds Drive, Fengate, struck a man in his 40s with a glass bottle at the College Arms pub in Broadway, Peterborough, at about 11.30pm on Christmas Eve 2022. The victim, who had commented to door staff about McKillop arguing with them, was knocked to the ground and required 14 stitches. McKillop immediately admitted the offence to police but gave no comment in interview.
Pleaded guilty to assault causing grievous bodily harm without intent. Showed remorse and admitted offence to police at the scene.
Kristopher Jane

Kristopher Jane, 31, from Bristol, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for a series of depraved sexual offences against children, including the sexual abuse of a toddler. The case came to light after police discovered appalling footage on Jane's phone, showing him assaulting the crying toddler in the back of a van while a 17-year-old girl filmed the incident. Judge David Farrell at Cambridge Crown Court described Jane as a 'dangerous and sickening paedophile' during the sentencing hearing. Macaulay Brown, from Therfield near Royston, was arrested on October 18, 2018, following an incident at an address in Hitchin where the victim was awoken by Brown touching her and then raping her while he believed she was still asleep. Another victim alleged Brown sexually assaulted her under similar circumstances at a house in Cambridge in December 2017 after spending the evening at her home in Bassingbourn with friends.
Denied both offences but found guilty of one count of rape and one count of sexual assault. DC Caroline Niwaz commended victims' bravery.

Martin Thompson, 36, was driving on High Road, Guyhirn, when police signalled for him to pull over. He ignored them and led a high-speed pursuit through Wisbech St Mary, reaching 85mph in a 40mph zone, before crashing into a large oak tree on Main Road, Wisbech, where he was arrested. Police found cannabis, cocaine, scales and cash in his car.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs, driving whilst disqualified and without insurance. Of no fixed abode.
