The abuse included staying overnight at one boy's house, inappropriate touching, using WhatsApp and Snapchat to send over 4,000 messages to normalise behaviour and request indecent images, and captured on CCTV at the mosque. The investigation began in May 2022 after mothers reported the grooming. He was charged with one rape, nine sexual assaults, and four offences of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Ordered to remain on licence for a further five years, abide by a sexual harm prevention order indefinitely, and indefinite restraining orders against each of the children. Took the case to trial and showed no remorse.

He was caught on November 13, 2022, when a victim noticed his phone hovering above while using the toilet at Cannon Park Shopping Centre, leading to a chase and police involvement. A phone download revealed 11 images and 28 videos. Initially, he claimed it was a misunderstanding involving his partner or a Grindr meet-up, but later pleaded guilty.

Mohammed Uzair Rashid, a 35-year-old from Greater Manchester, attempted to smuggle almost 18 kilos of high-strength heroin (66-71% pure, worth over £900,000) into the UK through Birmingham Airport. He arrived on a flight from Sialkot, Pakistan, via Dubai, in November 2021. CCTV captured Border Force officers searching his checked-in baggage, where the drugs were found. Rashid initially claimed the bags were not his and that the packages were planted. He had flown to Pakistan on 29 September 2021 on a ticket booked the same day, claiming to take £500 savings from benefit payments for a holiday. WhatsApp messages showed constant contact with someone referred to as ‘Brother’, including advice to remain calm while passing through the airport in Pakistan.
Pleaded guilty to class A drug importation offences.

Rory Farrell, 30, repeatedly attacked and stabbed his ex-partner, enduring three months of physical and psychological torment during the first Covid lockdown. He dangled her by her ankles from a first floor window in her Birmingham flat, shouting 'Bye' as he threatened to drop her before pulling her back. On one occasion in May 2020, a neighbour found her outside with two black eyes and blood weeping through plasters on multiple cuts; doctors found nine knife slash wounds she had tried to treat herself. An ambulance was called and West Midlands Police arrested Farrell later that day.
The court heard he was obsessed and continually checked her phone and social media accounts. Detective Inspector Andy Bridgewater noted Farrell became obsessed with her and her life, convinced she had been seeing other men while he was in jail, leading to paranoia and violence.

Alan Martyn, aged 46, supplied cannabis to Anas Chergat, 26, expecting payment. On 22 August 2019, Martyn visited Mr Chergat's home in Sandon Street, Etruria, Stoke-on-Trent. After an argument over the unpaid cannabis debt, pressured by Richard Street's threatening texts, Martyn stabbed Mr Chergat. Martyn took the victim's mobile phones, leaving his DNA on a charging cable, and later disposed of the phones with Street in a storm drain, captured on CCTV.
Pleaded guilty to murder on 28 July. Also pleaded guilty to supplying cannabis, receiving concurrent sentence of 9 months.

On September 6, 2020, paranoid schizophrenic Zephaniah McLeod launched a series of knife attacks in Birmingham, killing 23-year-old Jacob Billington and injuring seven others, including life-changing injuries to Michael Callaghan. McLeod, who had been released from HMP Parc five months earlier with no planned contact with statutory services, was arrested following the attacks. He had a history of offending starting in his mid-teens, including drug and firearm offences for which he served a three-year sentence, and multiple arrests between 2007 and 2017. Despite known mental health issues and non-compliance with medication, he was released unsupervised to no fixed abode.
Admitted the manslaughter of Jacob Billington, four counts of attempted murder and three charges of wounding. The judge was very critical in his sentencing report about the level of care and monitoring of the individual.
