On 28 April, shortly before 3.45pm, Lee Ainsworth, 34, from Alton, was driving a Ford Focus on the M3 near junction 6. Under the influence of drugs, he collided with the back of a Jaguar. Ainsworth’s passenger suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital; the Jaguar’s driver and female passenger sustained minor injuries. Toxicology tests later revealed Ainsworth had benzoylecgonine, a cocaine byproduct, at 79 times the legal limit. He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and drug driving at Basingstoke Magistrates Court.
Pleaded guilty. Toxicology showed benzoylecgonine at 79 times the legal limit. Roads Policing Unit officer stated: ‘It’s sheer luck no one was seriously hurt or killed.’
