On 20th January 2022, Anthony Small drove his BMW X5 along Hatter’s Lane in High Wycombe, a residential area with a 30mph speed limit. CCTV recorded him reaching speeds above 70mph, driving on the wrong side of the road, overtaking dangerously, crossing to the other carriageway, and colliding with an oncoming Nissan Juke, which was shunted into a Ford Transit Van. A mother and her six-year-old daughter were injured; the mother suffered life-changing injuries requiring long-term therapy. Small fled on foot and later lied that he had sold the vehicle two days prior.

Pleaded guilty to one count of dangerous driving and one of perverting the course of justice. Banned from driving for six years and must pass an extended driving test. Lies and failure to accept responsibility increased sentence.
