Following arrest and bail with no-contact restrictions, Atherton breached bail by messaging via her cousin and parking outside the victim's home to stare at her. On May 3, 2025, while the victim was at work, Atherton entered the house undetected, waited inside with her belongings, aggressively confronted the victim upon her return, and took the car without consent, causing fear and distress. The victim, who has a daughter from a previous relationship, ended the engagement and relocated to a secret address, fearing for her life.
