On October 18, 2025, 28-year-old Saidahmed-Hamid Ghalem, an asylum seeker from Victoria Dock Road in London, was found squatting in Zach Crompton's holiday home in St Ives, Cornwall, where he had been for about four days. He was discovered cooking in the kitchen and admitted to being homeless. After confrontation, he left the property on Skidden Hill, causing damage to the front window and a rug. On October 21, Crompton spotted Ghalem attempting to re-enter, with additional damage to six window panes. Ghalem was arrested and charged.
Pleaded guilty to trespassing and criminal damage. Has 11 previous convictions for 21 offences between June 2024 and July 2025.
