He called her fat, grabbed and jiggled her stomach, controlled her life, sent abusive messages, and continued to contact her 568 times after the breakup, suggesting he was following or stalking her. He punched her in the leg during an argument over access to her phone, causing injury. The victim provided for him financially, felt isolated, embarrassed, and constantly scared, questioning her worth and experiencing exhaustion from worry.
Pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and coercive behaviour. Showed remorse and made progress while on remand. Judge noted his behaviour made the victim's life a 'living hell' and highlighted his bad childhood experiences.

He had a history of domestic abuse, with police called multiple times between June and December 2024, and the victim reported suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and flashbacks.
Pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm. Had previous convictions for domestic violence and breached domestic violence protection orders. The judge noted his remorse, the role of alcohol in his behaviour, and that he was on bail at the time of the offence.

Christian Dodd, 46, raped and sexually assaulted a woman in August 2022 in the Falmouth area. The victim suffered physical injuries, including to her back, and reported severe psychological trauma, feeling 'broken and used, ashamed and humiliated, dirty and degraded'. The attack led to her becoming suicidal, homeless, and reliant on food banks. Dodd was arrested after a police report, stood trial, and was convicted of one count of rape and one count of assault by penetration.
Pleaded not guilty despite admitting in a police interview that the woman did not consent. Judge James Adkin described the abuse as 'dreadful' and noted it caused immense psychological and physical suffering. He will serve two thirds of the sentence before release on licence and be on the sex offenders register for life. Defence mentioned he has frail and elderly parents who will suffer as a result.
