Darren Pattison, 38, of Middleton Walk, Stockton, was stopped with his brother Gary in an Audi car that drove through a red light in central Stockton in December 2016. Officers seized half a kilo of heroin worth £25,500, a flick knife, £1,200 in cash, and mobile phones with drug texts. He was a third-strike drug dealer with prior convictions.
Pleaded guilty. Third-strike drug dealer facing minimum of seven years. Drugs have blighted his life for 20 years; he accepts dealing perpetuates harm to others.

On 1 March 2016, in Bankfields, Eston, Gordon Blue Smith, then aged 23 from Whale Hill, joined Christopher Stubbs and Luke Lovell in pursuing Lee Pettite, aged 22, as part of a revenge plan after a prior confrontation. The trio chased Pettite, with Lovell intercepting him before Stubbs shot him fatally in the back around 5pm. Pettite died that evening from the gunshot wound. The judge noted all three were responsible for his death.
Acquitted of murder but convicted of manslaughter. Enlisted by co-defendants to outnumber the victim.

On 1 March 2016, in Bankfields, Eston, Luke Lovell, then aged 22 from Whale Hill, along with Christopher Stubbs and Gordon Blue Smith, pursued Lee Pettite, aged 22, as part of a plan to assault him following a prior altercation. Lovell intercepted Pettite before Stubbs shot him in the back, inflicting a fatal wound to the back and chest around 5pm. Pettite collapsed on Oakley Walk and died that evening from the gunshot wound despite medical efforts. The group had threatened Pettite's mother earlier that day.

Mark Robbins, 42, and Sean Keenan, 29, turned their rental property in central Hartlepool into a cannabis farm with 23 large plants capable of producing 989 grams worth £9,890. The landlord noticed high electricity bills and smelt cannabis, informing police who raided the flat on October 27, 2015.
Pleaded guilty to production of a Class B drug. Multiple previous convictions for various offences including drugs. Judge stated: 'Cannabis, like all the drugs that are on the streets of Britain, is a menace.'

Sarah Hadfield, along with Anthony Hadfield and Steven Corbett, chased and killed Adam Thomson in revenge for a knife attack by Thomson on his ex-partner’s new boyfriend. Thomson was hit by a Ford Focus driven by Sarah Hadfield in Hartlepool as he tried to flee.
Admitted manslaughter, previously denied murder. Her car was travelling at about 9mph when it hit the victim.

On 1 April 2007, in Silk’s Nightclub in Redcar, drunken Stephen Petch punched 17-year-old student Daniel Busby in the face in an unprovoked attack at around 1am, causing two fractures to his lower jaw. Daniel spent five days in hospital, underwent surgery, had metal buttons on his teeth, and suffered long-term effects including loss of sensation in his lower lip.
Pleaded guilty. First conviction for violence. Judge Benjamin Nolan noted unprovoked attack with a 'mighty punch' causing significant injury.

On July 8, 2022, PC Mark Roberts was driving a marked police car on Dunston Road in Gateshead when he ran a red light without slowing down or braking, colliding with a motorcycle ridden by Ronald Pinkney, 77, and his pillion passenger wife Muriel, 74. Muriel died days later from her injuries, and Ronald sustained serious injuries. Roberts treated the red light as a 'give way' sign, falling far below the standards expected of a competent driver.
Found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Responding to an emergency incident involving a five-year-old child with respiratory issues. Later dismissed from Northumbria Police for gross misconduct.

John Robbins, 40, from Tiverton Grove, Hartlepool, was involved in a stabbing on October 21, 2023, at Glastonbury Walk, Hartlepool, with David Halcrow. They punched and kicked a man in his 60s inside a house, threw a blanket over his head, dragged him to the living room, and stabbed him in the thigh twice after Robbins instructed to 'finish him'. The victim lost one and a half litres of blood from an 8cm deep wound and required hospital treatment. Robbins also took part in a vicious assault on April 16, 2023, punching and kicking a man outside a bar after drinking, filming it, causing multiple facial fractures requiring surgery. Additionally, sentenced for a burglary in Hartlepool in March 2023, stealing two guitars worth £2,000.
Classed as a dangerous offender. Found guilty of wounding with intent following a trial in February. Also sentenced for a burglary and another assault.

Joanne Swift stole £40 from the wallet of a man with cerebral palsy, a friend living alone, on November 15, 2023, after visiting his home for drinks and claiming to have left something behind. In January 2024, shortly after release from prison, she barged into his home with an unknown man despite being blocked, and stole £55 from his wallet.
Pleaded guilty to theft and burglary. Has 81 previous convictions for 186 offences including theft, robbery, and attempted burglary. Recorder Taryn Turner noted her appalling criminal record and exploitation of vulnerable victim. Five year restraining order imposed.

Jake Honour, 21, from Tiverton Grove, Hartlepool, took part in a vicious assault on April 16, 2023, punching and kicking a man outside a bar after drinking with him, along with John Robbins and Alan Metcalfe, filming the assault. The victim suffered multiple fractures to his face requiring surgery with plates and screws, and has been unable to leave his home since. Also admitted to stealing alcohol from the staff area of a shop on October 21, 2023.

When challenged by the victim's aunt, Metcalfe threatened to petrol bomb her home. Additionally, sentenced for a burglary in Cameron Road, Hartlepool, in May 2023.

Alana Squire

Alana Squire, a former care worker, stole more than £46,751 from a vulnerable elderly military veteran's savings over a three-year period. She worked for a care company looking after him but also visited evenings off-duty, gained his trust, and used his bank card to withdraw cash, claiming the money as loans for her children which she did not repay. Concerns arose in December 2020 after she was sacked for another theft suspicion; financial investigators confirmed the total stolen.
Pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position. Gambling addict who lost more than £137,000 through playing bingo.
