Gary Bushnall, a 52-year-old convicted sex offender from Leven Road, Norton, Stockton, was jailed at Teesside Crown Court for 12 months after breaching his sexual harm prevention order and sex offender registration requirements. Bushnall was found in possession of an Xbox with an online account and initially claimed it belonged to his daughter. He also failed to disclose using the alias BEELZEBUB#3589 within three days of creating it. These breaches followed a suspended prison sentence imposed last summer for previous violations of orders from 2020. The court heard Bushnall bought the Xbox to alleviate boredom, with limited family contact post-conviction. He pleaded guilty to breaching the SHPO and notification requirements after his arrest on April 2. Additionally, he admitted to two charges of causing/inciting a girl to engage in a sex act and one of attempting to cause a child to watch a sex act. Judge Richard Bennett accepted no child abuse images or contact with children were found but noted Bushnall remained a high risk to children. Jay Stephen Perren

Jay Stephen Perren, previously known as Stephen Jardine, aged 34, was sentenced for multiple child sexual offences committed over several years. Following his arrest in November 2020, police discovered 33,000 indecent images and videos stored on an SD card hidden in a phone. The offences included five counts of rape (one of a child under 12 months old), sexual assault of a child under 13, causing or inciting child prostitution or pornography, causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, sexual activity with a child, causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, making indecent images, taking indecent images, and breaching a sexual harm prevention order. He meticulously organised the material by victim names or locations, which helped identify victims.
Pleaded guilty to 25 serious sexual offences. Also received a five-year extended licence period.

Lee Vickers, 23, of no fixed address, stabbed a shopping centre security guard with a pair of scissors outside The Cleveland Shopping Centre in Middlesbrough on July 16 after being confronted while stealing food. He threatened the guard, fell to the ground during a struggle, laughed after the incident and was arrested nearby. He had been attempting to steal from Iceland and Greggs with another male.
Pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a bladed article. Has six convictions for 15 offences and was in breach of a conditional discharge. Extended Criminal Behaviour Order for five years.
Kenneth Ward
Exposure and possession of prohibited firearms *

Kenneth Ward tormented neighbour Mandy Dunford for nearly a decade, exposing himself daily, standing half-naked on sentry duty or following her wearing only boots and socks. On one occasion he pointed a rifle at her and she heard shots as she fled. When arrested, police found illegal weapons at his home including a loaded Luger pistol, grenades, mortars and ammunition. Bomb disposal experts made the weapons safe in controlled explosions.
Pleaded guilty to 11 counts of exposure, three charges of possessing a prohibited firearm and seven other firearms offences.

Victims were told to provide a 5% deposit, which Turner-Miller claimed would be held in a secure account and returned upon completion. Instead, he deposited the money into his personal bank account, using it to fund his lifestyle and service debts. A police investigation located 11 victims who lost significant sums.

In 2021, Allport received a suspended sentence at Teesside Crown Court for serious sexual offences committed in 2016 when he was a teenager, including inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual assault, and sexual activity with a child. He was placed on the sex offenders' register for 10 years and required to notify police of any name or address change. In 2025, police discovered he had used the alias 'Jordan Foster' and stayed at unregistered addresses, leading to his arrest. He had also failed to complete unpaid work from a separate community order for spitting at a police officer.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of failing to comply with notification requirements. Previously convicted of sexual offences against a child and given a suspended sentence in 2021. Judge rejected mitigation that he wanted a fresh start.

John Robbins, 40, from Tiverton Grove, Hartlepool, was involved in a stabbing on October 21, 2023, at Glastonbury Walk, Hartlepool, with David Halcrow. They punched and kicked a man in his 60s inside a house, threw a blanket over his head, dragged him to the living room, and stabbed him in the thigh twice after Robbins instructed to 'finish him'. The victim lost one and a half litres of blood from an 8cm deep wound and required hospital treatment. Robbins also took part in a vicious assault on April 16, 2023, punching and kicking a man outside a bar after drinking, filming it, causing multiple facial fractures requiring surgery. Additionally, sentenced for a burglary in Hartlepool in March 2023, stealing two guitars worth £2,000.

Jordan Russell Blackburn, a director of a cleaning solutions company in West Yorkshire, co-led the amphetamine manufacturing operation with Stephen Singleton. He used the encrypted EncroChat system. The lab in Husthwaite was raided on 28 April 2020, where Philip Lister and Ryan Beer were producing amphetamine oil. 12 barrels of MAPA precursor were found, with a potential yield worth over £5m. Blackburn was convicted of conspiracy to produce amphetamine after a trial.

Justin Grevatt

Justin Grevatt, 38, from Kingsknowe Court, Edinburgh, was jailed for 20 months at Teesside Crown Court after sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Darlington. The court heard how Grevatt groped the girl’s breast before putting his hand between her legs, leaving her traumatised and unwilling to leave her house. When her mother returned, the victim became hysterical and revealed what happened, prompting the mother to order Grevatt out. Prosecutor Shaun Dodds explained the severe impact, including the family having to move home due to the horror of the event. Grevatt had a similar offence on his record from over a decade ago. Anthony Davis, mitigating, described it as a ‘momentary aberration’ linked to mental health struggles. Judge Jo Kidd sentenced Grevatt to 20 months in custody for the sexual assault on a child. He was made subject to a ten-year sexual harm prevention order, required to sign the sex offenders’ register for ten years, and an indefinite restraining order.

Joshua Robson, 23, of Esher Place, Cramlington, NE23 8JQ, raped his 20-year-old victim in October 2018 while she slept. When she woke up in pain, he pretended to be asleep. The victim reported the incident to police immediately, leading to an investigation by Northumbria Police's Safeguarding unit. Robson was arrested, denied the allegation, but was found guilty of one count of rape.

Joshua Chapman
Causing death by dangerous driving *

On 29 July 2022, Joshua Chapman, then 18, was driving a grey 1.9-litre Alfa Romeo 147 with three friends—Aaron Bell, Tommy Shevels, and Louis Banks—on the B6268 near Bedale. He had drunk 'one or two pints' earlier. Witnesses reported his earlier reckless driving, including bragging about doing 120 mph. That evening, he tailgated a vehicle, beeped continuously, overtook at temporary traffic lights through a red light despite poor visibility, and drove at around 75 mph in a 60 mph zone. He lost control on a sweeping right-hand bend and struck a tree. All three passengers, aged 17 and 18, died at the scene. Chapman sustained serious injuries and initially claimed little memory, but later admitted causing their deaths by dangerous driving.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of causing death by dangerous driving. Must serve at least two-thirds before parole. Banned from driving for 10 years. Judge Jonathan Carroll described driving as 'appalling' and noted genuine remorse but catastrophic harm.

He possessed 43 Category A images and videos (the most serious, including depictions of a child being raped), 68 Category B, and 115 Category C. In interview he admitted possession, claiming it was out of intrigue. His defence cited loneliness following a relationship breakdown.

Donald Gaote-Oueyeya, already serving a life sentence for murdering a 17-year-old in a gang attack in Wandsworth, London, attacked fellow inmate John Henry Sayers at HMP Frankland on April 30, 2025, during association time. He used a makeshift weapon from prison cutlery, causing a 7cm neck laceration, 5cm forehead wound, and 2cm finger cut. A prison officer was also injured while intervening. Christopher Grinter, a 43-year-old man from Forcett in North Yorkshire, was arrested on December 16, 2023, after police found indecent images on his digital devices. Specialist officers recovered ten category A images, eight category B images, and 26 category C images. Grinter had a previous conviction from 2009 for grooming teenage girls via webcams, for which he was jailed for five years and released in 2011. He relapsed into offending after the death of his father, having been out of trouble for over 14 years.

Adam Scott, 52, from Middlesbrough, thought he was speaking to girls aged 12 and 14 online when he sent repeated sexual messages. He was caught by undercover police decoys on the chatroom Chatib. Police seized his phone on 26 September 2025 after he sent sexual messages to the first decoy profile. After being released under investigation, he obtained a new phone and contacted a second decoy profile posing as a 14-year-old in February, sending further sexual messages and pictures. An extreme pornographic image was also found on his phone.
Admitted six offences including attempting to engage a child in sexual communication. Must also comply with a sexual harm prevention order and sign the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Alana Squire, a former care worker, stole more than £46,751 from a vulnerable elderly military veteran's savings over a three-year period. She worked for a care company looking after him but also visited evenings off-duty, gained his trust, and used his bank card to withdraw cash, claiming the money as loans for her children which she did not repay. Concerns arose in December 2020 after she was sacked for another theft suspicion; financial investigators confirmed the total stolen.

Alan Metcalfe

Alan Metcalfe, 27, from South Bank, took part in a vicious assault on April 16, 2023, punching and kicking a man outside a bar in Hartlepool after drinking with him, along with John Robbins and Jake Honour. The victim suffered multiple fractures to his face requiring surgery with plates and screws, and has been unable to leave his home since. When challenged by the victim's aunt, Metcalfe threatened to petrol bomb her home. Additionally, sentenced for a burglary in Cameron Road, Hartlepool, in May 2023.

Andrew Dale Iveson

Andrew Finn
Voyeurism and common assault *

Andrew Finn, aged 55, a martial arts instructor from Middlesbrough who operated two karate clubs in the North-East of England, spied on a girl under the age of 13 as she washed for his own sexual gratification. The case came to light ahead of a scheduled trial, where Finn was originally charged with sexual assault and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The trial was abandoned after Finn pleaded guilty to lesser charges of voyeurism and common assault, a plea accepted by prosecutors and the victim. The voyeurism involved watching the girl, a pupil, on one occasion, and the common assault was perpetrated against the same child. A victim impact statement from the girl's mother revealed lasting effects of the abuse. Finn had been cleared by a jury in 2004 of five charges of indecent assault against another pupil.
Pleaded guilty to voyeurism and common assault. Judge Peter Armstrong emphasised the seriousness of the offences, noting Finn had abused his position of trust. Ordered to sign the sex offenders' register for seven years, made subject to a sexual offences prevention order for five years, banned from working with children for five years, and prohibited from entering gyms, community centres, and leisure facilities.
Anthony Campbell

Anthony Campbell, of Portrush Close in Middlesbrough, assaulted a woman in her thirties by punching her in the face several times and assaulted a nine-year-old girl by kicking her in the stomach. He dragged the woman and three children into his vehicle before driving away. The incident happened on Monday 13th March 2023. He made threats that he would 'destroy her face' and had a taser in his vehicle. A plastic bottle containing liquid was seen. The woman lost consciousness several times, suffered a large swollen black eye, a bruised hand and a cut to her eyebrow which required medical glue, and may require surgery to her eye. The nine-year-old girl was in pain but had no visible injuries.
Convicted of two breaches of a restraining order and two assaults.
Anthony Hadfield

Anthony Hadfield, along with Sarah Hadfield and Steven Corbett, chased and killed Adam Thomson in revenge for a knife attack by Thomson on his ex-partner’s new boyfriend. Thomson was hit by a Ford Focus in Hartlepool as he tried to flee.
Admitted manslaughter, previously denied murder. Initially acted in lawful defence but continued to chase the victim.
