George Charlton operated a waste site without a permit at Reay Street, Bill Quay in Gateshead, collecting waste from friends and relatives without registering as a waste carrier. He burned waste including furniture, beds, mattresses, wood and waste electrical items to avoid disposal costs. Environment Agency officers visited on 4 April 2016 after seeing smoke, found waste on fire, and Charlton extinguished it. Waste remained despite warnings, with further inspections on 24 August 2016 showing large quantities of mixed waste and evidence of burning.

Between June 1982 and approximately two years later, Kenneth Norman Senior, then Vicar of White Waltham, indecently assaulted a choirboy under 13 on multiple occasions. The assaults occurred in the church bell tower where the boy was fondled and masturbated after being asked to help with odd jobs, and during holidays to Tenerife, Fordingbridge, and the New Forest. The boy was paid for jobs and visits, and received gifts including a bicycle. There was no coercion, force, or mutual activity.
Pleaded guilty to two offences of indecently assaulting a male person under the age of 13 years. Asked for 22 similar offences to be taken into consideration. Former Vicar of White Waltham.
