Silas Black

Silas Black, a 46-year-old man from Trelawney Avenue in Langley, attempted to abduct a 10-year-old boy at a Tesco supermarket in Slough on 18 July 2011. He was intoxicated. Black approached the boy and urged him to go with him, offering £5, then grabbed his coat when the child refused. The boy escaped to his mother. Black was caught on CCTV trying to leave without paying for items. He pleaded guilty to attempted abduction. The court heard he had previous child sex offence convictions from 1986, 1989, and 1993. Judge John Reddihough noted concern about what might have happened if Black had succeeded.

Simon Christopher Collins, aged 58, of Chippenham, Wiltshire, was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison for his involvement in a paedophile ring that operated in Wiltshire. The case, investigated by Scotland Yard's paedophile unit, uncovered a network of individuals who abused children at a remote farm owned by one of the members. Collins was convicted at Reading Crown Court on 21 February 2013 for arranging the commission of a child sex offence, aiding or abetting a woman to allow bestiality, making indecent images, and possessing extreme pornography. His sentencing marked him as one of the latest members of the ring to face justice, following an extensive investigation spanning multiple police force areas.

Simon Robertson, 51, of Coley Lane, Chilbolton, Hampshire, was convicted of one count of rape against an adult victim in Haringey, North London, between January 2001 and May 2003, one count of rape against a child victim, and three counts of sexual activity with a female child victim in Maidenhead, Berkshire, between May 2013 and June 2014. Victims were selected due to their vulnerability, resulting in long-term effects on them and their families.

Stephen Brooker

Stephen Brooker broke into a property in Ripplesmere, Bracknell between the evening of 21 December and the morning of 22 December last year. He smashed a window, ransacked a bedroom, and stole personal items and clothing belonging to the victim. Fingerprints and blood samples at the scene matched Brooker, leading to his arrest on 17 January 2019. He had previously tried to contact the victim on social media but was blocked.
Pleaded guilty to burglary. Also given a ten-year restraining order.
Sabeur Trabelsi

On 31 March 2021, Sabeur Trabelsi, a security guard at Marks and Spencer in Chalfont Way, Lower Earley, chased Jason Page, 52, who had stolen about £300 of meat. Following an altercation outside a BP petrol station, Trabelsi punched Page causing him to fall and suffer unsurvivable head injuries; Page died the following evening. Trabelsi was also convicted of perverting the course of justice by misleading ambulance crews and police about how Page fell.
Found guilty after trial. No previous convictions but three cautions. Starting point 7.5 years reduced for good character, remorse and remaining at scene. Concurrent 2-year sentence for perverting the course of justice. Judge noted the tragic nature and that no sentence can restore the loss.
Robert Neill

Robert Neill, a PE teacher and housemaster at Kennet School in Thatcham, Berkshire, carried out a series of sexual assaults, including a rape, on vulnerable boy pupils as young as 11 between 1986 and 2003. He targeted the youngest boys and naughty pupils, demanding they visit his office within the school grounds where he inflicted the abuse.
Pleaded not guilty but convicted. Judge Angela Morris described him as preying on the youngest and most vulnerable pupils. Wife blew him a kiss across the courtroom as he was led to the cells.

Robert Westgarth from Priestwood, Bracknell, had 35 indecent images (still and moving) of children aged 6 to 16 years on his devices, including category A, B and C images. Police found images on storage devices and a video deliberately taken on his mobile phone. He had deliberately searched for indecent images.
Jury convicted him on charges of making and obtaining indecent images of children. Made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years, ordered to pay £140 victim surcharge and £500 prosecution costs. Judge noted addiction to pornography and unhealthy interest in young children, but no insight into guilt.
Ross Thompson-Cooley

Ross Thompson-Cooley, 62, of Lowestoft Drive, Burnham, Slough, Berkshire, used Rando and Whatsapp to send explicit messages to two girls under 16, calling himself Romeo. He attempted to arrange an in-person meet. The offences occurred online in August and September 2021. He was arrested on September 4, 2021, following a section 18 house search where multiple electronic items were seized. Charged on September 5, 2021, and pleaded guilty at a hearing at Reading Magistrates Court on September 7, 2021.
Pleaded guilty to one count each of engaging in sexual communication with a child, adult attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and adult attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming. Made subject of a sexual harm prevention order.
Roy Coxhead

Roy Coxhead, 71, of Erleigh Road, Reading, groomed and sexually abused two vulnerable boys decades apart. The first boy, aged 11 or 12, was targeted with money, cigarettes, alcohol and cannabis; Coxhead had oral sex with him and attempted penetration multiple times, resulting in the boy contracting a sexually transmitted infection. Years later, in 2017, Coxhead lured a 14-year-old boy with special educational needs to his flat, offering free food, cigarettes and cannabis, then put his hands down the boy's trousers and touched his penis, encouraging reciprocation. Arrested in June 2017 after the second abuse came to light, revealing the first.
Found guilty after a two-week trial of multiple counts including indecency with a child, indecent assault, attempting to commit a serious sexual offence, perverting the course of justice, sexual activity with a child, and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Judge Emma Nott described him as a 'dangerous' predator who showed no remorse.
Wayne Swaine

On 22 January 2022, Wayne Swaine, 47, of Oak Avenue, Wokingham, attempted to enter The Purple Turtle Bar in Reading at 1.30am but was refused entry as it was closing. He became aggressive, rushed inside, was removed by door staff, and then struck security doorman Jonathan Proctor, dislocating his jaw and causing him to collapse. Proctor was taken to hospital. Swaine was arrested. He has a history of 51 previous offences.
Found guilty after trial. Has 15 previous convictions for 51 offences. Last conviction in 2014. Expressed regret. Director of a cable company.

Sagar Gurung

In November 2022, Sagar Gurung followed a woman home in Reading, Berkshire, in the early hours. On West Street and Queens Walk, he removed his belt and attacked her, committing attempted rape and sexual assault by penetration. The assault was interrupted by a security guard and captured on CCTV. Thames Valley Police identified Gurung through CCTV analysis, phone tracking, and financial records. He was arrested as he attempted to flee the country with a one-way ticket to Hong Kong. Gurung pleaded guilty to kidnap but denied the sexual offences. A jury at Reading Crown Court found him guilty of attempted rape and sexual assault by penetration on 10 May 2023. On 8 August 2023, he was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment with an additional four-year extended licence period.

Talwinder Singh

Talwinder Singh was refused permission by Slough council to build a block of six flats in the Manor Park area of Slough but built them anyway. Despite a planning enforcement notice in September 2010, he let the flats to tenants including families with children. He lied to the council claiming the property had been returned to a single dwelling, installed temporary kitchens dismantled before inspections, boarded up attic doors, removed windows from top floor attic flats leaving tenants without natural light, and charged tenants extra for council tax while declaring only one property. The £266,177 represented illegally obtained rent and unpaid council tax confiscated under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. Slough council received £18,826 compensation for lost council tax and £23,130 prosecution costs. He must return the flats to one or two properties as per original consent and pay all monies within three months or face up to 30 months in jail.
Admitted two charges of failure to comply with an enforcement notice between December 2011 and December 2017 under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, and dishonestly making a false representation in December 2012 contrary to the Fraud Act 2006. Judge Paul Dugdale described him as a greedy experienced landlord who ignored the council's planning decision and used dishonest acts to hoodwink the council.
Theo Charles Healis
Robbery, threatening to kill, and possession of an imitation firearm *

On 28 March 2017, Healis confronted a man closing his car boot on the fourth floor of the Atrium multi-storey car park in Camberley, shouted threats, and brandished an imitation gun wrapped in a dark sock. He later approached the man again and threatened to kill him. The victim reported the incident, and armed officers arrested Healis. A week earlier, on 23 March, Healis was involved in a robbery near Wokingham train station, where a man was followed by two males, feared one had a gun, and handed over his bag, which was then stolen. Healis was identified and charged with robbery.
Pleaded guilty. Sentence comprised of 2.5 years for robbery, 20 months for two counts of threatening to kill (served concurrently), and 2.5 years for possessing an imitation firearm (served consecutively). Detective Sergeant James Ansell commented that the public should be reassured and that the case showed effective police collaboration.
