Elias Morgan orchestrated and carried out the murder of Lenny Scott, a 33-year-old former prison officer and father-of-three, as an act of retaliation. On February 8, 2024, Morgan shot Mr. Scott six times in the head and body outside a gym on Peel Road in Skelmersdale. The attack stemmed from Mr. Scott discovering and reporting Morgan's illicit sexual relationship with a female prison guard while Morgan was incarcerated at HMP Altcourse. Morgan had threatened Mr. Scott, including making gun gestures and warnings about his family, after Mr. Scott refused a bribe. Morgan conducted reconnaissance on locations linked to Mr. Scott and used a van and electric motorbike for the attack.
Pleaded not guilty to murder but was unanimously convicted by an 11-person jury after five hours and 24 minutes of deliberations. Remanded in custody for sentencing.
Tom Lee
Fraud by false representation *
Sentence
2 years and 9 months imprisonment
Tom Lee, along with an accomplice, targeted a man in his mid-60s at his home in Crawshawbooth, Rossendale, by falsely claiming urgent roof repairs were needed. They quoted £12,000 for repairs, plus additional costs for scaffolding and tree removal, demanding £3,000 upfront. The work was described as 'shockingly poor' and worth only £3,000, forcing the victim to pay an extra £15,000 for proper repairs. The fraud involved repeated demands for payments and left the victim's home exposed to weather risks.
Pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation. The victim was conned out of £37,000 for poor quality roof repairs, and voice notes from Lee's phone showed enthusiasm for the scam.
