Pearson staggered back to his flat with serious head injuries and died of blunt head trauma on August 2, 2020, despite hospital treatment. Claydon was arrested two days later, initially charged with grievous bodily harm, later upgraded to murder. CCTV footage, witness testimony, and forensic evidence proved his guilt.

Convicted of murder after trial. Claydon admitted manslaughter but denied murder. Detective Inspector Mark Dickinson described the attack as 'callous and cowardly'.

Paula Coltatu, the 39-year-old partner of convicted trafficker Florica Calin, played a supporting role in the criminal network that sexually exploited a Romanian woman in Lancashire by engaging in money laundering and perverting the course of justice. The operation, centred around brothels in Preston, Accrington, and Burnley, involved Coltatu working alongside Calin to facilitate the trafficking for sexual exploitation that began in June 2018. Following the victim's escape and report to police in November 2018, investigations by Lancashire Police revealed Coltatu's involvement. Initially claiming to be a victim herself upon arrest, her story was disproven, confirming her complicity in the scheme. After being charged, Coltatu fled to Romania but was extradited back to the UK via a European Arrest Warrant. She appeared at Preston Crown Court on 8 June 2021 and was sentenced to 16 months' imprisonment for her offences.

Peter Littler, 61, of Stretton, Cheshire, was appointed executor of Joseph Webster's will after a reconciliation between Webster and Littler's wife, Karen, shortly before Webster's death in September 2022. The will had previously named Gary Hilton as executor. When Mr Webster's house was sold in May 2023, the proceeds of approximately £166,000 were due to be distributed among six beneficiaries—Webster's children and grandchildren—but Littler diverted the funds directly into his own bank account. He spent the money on personal items, including a £3,000 60th birthday party and £2,000 on semen from an Olympic racehorse, and used it to clear his overdraft. Littler ignored repeated requests from the family and told one beneficiary he 'can do what I want as executor'. He was arrested and charged with fraud by abuse of position.

Pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position. Appointed executor of Joseph Webster's will, he transferred the £166,000 estate directly into his own bank account, using it for personal spending, and repeatedly ignored the family's demands. Judge Michael Maher described his actions as 'mean and shabby' and stated he had 'zero remorse'.

He forced her over a vehicle in a secluded area on Parsonage Rd, attempted to rape her, threatened to kick the f*** out of her despite her crying and pleading. Stopped when a car drove past. Victim suffered sleepless nights, stress, anxiety, fear of going out alone. CCTV showed attack lasted two minutes.

Pleaded guilty on the second day of trial. Deemed a dangerous offender presenting high risk of serious harm to sex workers and women in whom he has a sexual interest. Prior conviction for rape in Runcorn, Cheshire, for which he was jailed for seven years.

On 9 January 2023, at Blackpool North station, 70-year-old Phillip Clive Butterworth approached a vulnerable woman with learning difficulties who was waiting alone for her train. He engaged her in conversation, asking if she was travelling solo, before boarding the same train and sitting next to her. During the subsequent 25-minute journey, Butterworth subjected the victim to lewd sexual suggestions and trapped her in her seat, preventing her from moving away. He also touched her inappropriately, leaving her terrified and distressed. The victim sent desperate text messages to her mother pleading for help. The assault was investigated by British Transport Police, leading to Butterworth's arrest.

Pleaded guilty to sexual assault. Issued with a restraining order and placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

He also sent a sexual video to a decoy posing as a 12-year-old girl and engaged in sexual conversations across multiple messaging apps. He breached his sexual harm prevention order by deleting activity on Teleguard.

Following a trial, he was convicted of 20 sexual offences, including four counts of rape, four of sexual assault, two of assaulting a child by penetration, and ten of sexual activity with a child.

Scott Smith, director of Alpine Roofing & Building Ltd, responded to a call from an 82-year-old Preston householder experiencing a leak after storm damage. After an online search, the householder agreed to repair works costing £13,000, paying £6,000 upfront by bank card. Work began that day but was substandard and incomplete: ridge and hip tiles were unsatisfactorily repointed, but no replacement of the affected roof area was done as agreed. Smith pressured for the remaining payment but did not return after non-payment. An independent expert found the work worthless. The householder got a £6,000 refund via bank and paid £450 more to fix the issues.

Pleaded guilty. Also received a four-month curfew from 9.30pm–6.30am, a three-year director disqualification and ordered to pay £450 compensation.

Scott Allan Henderson, 30, of Barn Meadow, Clayton Brook, Lancashire, breached his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) by contacting a 12-year-old boy via Facebook and Xbox in September 2016. During a routine home visit by Lancashire Constabulary's Sex Offenders Management Unit, officers discovered undisclosed internet-enabled devices containing further indecent images of children. While on bail after his August 2017 arrest, Henderson created a Snapchat account under the username 'undrawingtiger' and contacted a 14-year-old boy, leading to a second investigation. He was charged with multiple breaches of his SHPO and two counts of making indecent images of children. The offences followed his earlier conviction in 2012 for engaging in sexual activity with two boys under 16 over a webcam, exposing himself, and possessing indecent images of children, for which he was originally sentenced to 40 months at Preston Crown Court (later reduced on appeal).

Pleaded guilty to all charges at Preston Magistrates' Court on 22 February 2018. Had prior convictions at Preston Crown Court in April 2012 for sexual activity with two boys under 16 and possession of indecent images, for which he served 40 months (reduced on appeal). The attack was unprovoked and motivated by the victims' gothic appearance.

Patel told the girl he loved her and described her as having a 'sexy body'. The offences took place over a 12-month period. He pleaded guilty to six sexual assaults and engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Thomas Halfpenny, a 39-year-old convicted child sex offender from Barrow, was subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order following a 2017 conviction for grooming a 12-year-old boy. On 15 June 2023, officers visited his home and seized two laptops and a mobile phone. Forensic examination revealed 29 Category A indecent images of children (including a video), 22 Category B, and 29 Category C images. The offences of making the images occurred between 22 March 2022 and 31 December 2022. Halfpenny had also deleted internet history and Instagram messages between 31 January and 9 May 2022, breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to six counts of making indecent images of children and a further breach of the order. Recorder Geoffrey Lowe imposed a two-year community order with 210 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation activity days, along with a new five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
