The attack occurred in the early hours after September 28, 2024, in Mr Tillett's flat, where Watson and other drug users, including co-accused Jason Johnson and witness Laura Gwynn, were present. Motive stemmed from Watson viewing Mr Tillett as a 'grass' after prior police reports. Watson had previously threatened and assaulted Mr Tillett on May 31 and June 1, 2024, leading to a ban on contact, which he violated. The murder was sadistic, with Watson forcing Ms Gwynn to watch.
