Michael Wilson, of High Street, Bridlington, a 64-year-old man dressed in a school uniform including a wig, white shirt, blazer and Headlands School tie, approached two girls and squeezed one 14-year-old girl's bottom as he walked towards Headland School in Bridlington on the morning of January 8, 2019. He was seen by a member of staff in an out-of-bounds area near the school building. The staff member took a picture of him. Wilson was arrested on January 9, 2019, when police found a number of different school uniforms in a secret room hidden by a bookcase and a story written by him titled 'My Life As A 13-year-old Schoolboy'. An image of Wilson in uniform was shared among students.
Pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault. Must adhere to a sexual harm prevention order for seven years that prevents him from purchasing school uniforms. Must not go within 100m of the perimeter boundaries of any school or have any contact with children under 16 unrelated to him.

Michala Pyke was Poppy Widdison's mother. Poppy, aged four from Grimsby, suffered a cardiac arrest and died in her partner John Rytting's 'squalid' home surrounded by prescription and illicit drugs. Tests showed Poppy had been ingesting diazepam, heroin, methadone and ketamine for up to six months. Pyke had been feeding her daughter drugs including sedatives referred to as 'blue Smarties'. The pair considered Poppy an 'inconvenience'. Poppy was born addicted to heroin.
Described as an 'unfit mother'. Sentenced after the court heard she had been feeding her daughter drugs. Judge Jeremy Richardson QC told her and Rytting they both 'bear a huge responsibility for the death of a pretty and vivacious little girl' and commented: 'Poppy was born addicted to heroin... I don't think this is any accident and reveals your deplorable attitude towards an innocent infant.'
Neil Omer
Possession of indecent images of children *

Neil Omer took his white Lenovo laptop containing over a hundred indecent images of children, including category A images of penetrative sex of children aged 10 to 16 and prohibited cartoon-style images of children under 12, to Cash Express pawn shop in Holderness Road, Hull, on March 10, 2018. The manager discovered the images in folders labelled 'boys' and 'girls' on April 12, 2018, after the 28-day hold period expired, and reported to police. Images and videos were found on all four of his devices, spanning two years of viewing and internet searches. He claimed access via Tumblr believing only lawful images were there.
Full credit for pleading guilty at the earliest opportunity. Sexual harm prevention order and 30 day drug rehabilitation programme also imposed. Past convictions for dishonesty but none since 1985. Low risk of re-offending.

Maher Al-Shrida

Between January 28 and July 1, 2020, Maher Al-Shrida received and distributed dozens of videos of children via WhatsApp groups, including sending one video specifically requested by a friend. He possessed batches of 30 to 80 videos sent by friends, some of which were indecent images of children, and claimed it was a mistake with no sexual interest in children.
Admitted three offences of making indecent images of children, two of distributing indecent images of children and one of possessing extreme pornography. Given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. Must register as a sex offender for 10 years. Judge noted offender was in complete denial and had a sexual interest in children.

Logan Preston, 23, of Agar Crescent, Howden, confronted and punched a 69-year-old man using a walking frame on Station Road in Howden at about 11.15pm on June 21 2025. The victim fell, banged his head and was left unconscious with bleeding on the brain and a broken jaw. He later required 24-hour care in a home. Preston had been drinking and acted after his girlfriend mentioned stalking allegations involving the victim.
Admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm. No previous convictions. Attacked vulnerable OAP with walking frame after drinking.
Luke Alder

Luke Alder, of Eastgate, Goole, engaged in graphic and explicit online conversations about sex with a decoy profile pretending to be a 12-year-old girl on a children's chat account between August 14 and 21, 2020. He asked intimate questions, requested nude photos, suggested sexual acts, and discussed pregnancy. Arrested on September 15, 2021, police found 19 Category A indecent images and two videos, 18 Category B images, eight Category C images, and 38 prohibited images of children as young as two on his computer equipment. Some images showed children in pain or distress.
Admitted attempting to cause a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity and attempting to communicate sexually with her between August 14 and 21, 2020. Also admitted three offences of making indecent images of children and possessing prohibited images of children. Given a sexual harm prevention order for life and must register as a sex offender for life. No previous convictions.

Michael Lee, of The Crossings, Great Union Street, Hull, exposed his genitals to a woman walking to work in Hull city centre on Freetown Way at 8.50am on July 29. He was sitting on the pavement, pulled his trousers down, held the waistband to expose himself, and grinned at her while asking for spare change. The woman was shocked, scared, and anxious, later reporting reduced confidence walking alone.
Admitted exposure. History of three previous convictions for exposure, including six months imprisonment by Hull Magistrates in 2006. Ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years. Released shortly after as time served due to custody time.

Michael Billups, of Lilac Oval, Hillam, Leeds, LS25, subjected an East Riding schoolgirl to horrific sexual abuse over a two-month period around 2011. His campaign began by unzipping the girl's onesie to touch her before progressing to brutally raping her numerous times. The abuse was exposed years later when the victim confided in her boyfriend during an online quiz. Billups admitted the offences upon arrest in September 2018, expressing remorse.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and assault against a child. Judge Mark Bury condemned his crimes as gross. Five-year restraining order, must sign the sex offenders register for life and serve an extra year on extended licence.

After a night out in Hull city centre, Ajeyemi and the victim, who had met only once before, went back to a house. The victim was drunk and sick, and Ajeyemi led her upstairs to a bedroom where she lay down to sleep. He began touching her arm and thigh; she pushed him away and said 'I'm not here for that', but he continued, pulling up her dress and forcibly removing her knickers. She told him to stop, but he grabbed her thighs and held her down. She managed to grab her underwear, pushed him off the bed, ran downstairs and began crying. Ajeyemi later asked what was wrong despite knowing what he had done. The victim later obtained his phone number, confronted him on a FaceTime call, and he apologised, admitting 'I am wrong. I did something that was very wrong.' He sent text messages asking for forgiveness. She reported the incident to police, fearing he might do it to someone else.
Convicted of attempted rape and sexual assault. No previous convictions. Admitted wrongdoing during a video call to the victim.
Richard Cammidge

Richard Cammidge, a 41-year-old former Humberside Police officer from Bridlington, was arrested in November 2021 after allegations of sexual misconduct involving a child. Devices seized from his home showed he had been exchanging sexual messages with a child and had made an indecent photograph of a child. He pleaded guilty at Hull Crown Court to engaging in sexual communications with a child, attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child, making an indecent photograph of a child, and failing to disclose the key to protected information by refusing to provide his phone PIN. He resigned from the force before a misconduct hearing and was barred from policing. Deputy Chief Constable Paul Anderson said any sexual offence committed by an officer against a child is ‘absolutely deplorable.’
Pleaded guilty to child sex offences. Former Humberside Police officer. Sexual harm prevention order imposed alongside the custodial sentence.
Roxanna Bridgland

Roxanna Bridgland, 56, treasurer of Cleethorpes Rescue Service, stole £24,500 from the charity between 2007 and 2012. She sold the charity's £13,000 lifeboat on eBay for £6,000, fraudulently claimed £6,500 in Gift Aid, and made 53 visits to Cash Converters to sell off charity property including mobile radios. She engineered the resignation of the former chairman to take over as treasurer and left the charity in crippling debt with unpaid bills, forcing its closure. The charity had been founded in 1969 following the deaths of three children on a Cleethorpes beach.
Pleaded guilty to five charges of fraud and three of false accounting. Defence cited her husband's deteriorating health from 2000, for whom she was a registered carer. The Charity Commission is assessing further regulatory action.

Robert Wattam was involved in the stabbing death of 29-year-old Jack Howes just after midnight on 20 March 2023 following a fight on Macaulay Way in Grimsby. CCTV showed Robert Wattam and Kian Feve fleeing the scene. A knife with Jack Howes’s blood on the blade and Kian Feve’s DNA on the handle was found at a property on Haycroft Street.
Convicted of manslaughter after a two-week trial. Initially pleaded not guilty. Pleaded guilty to additional Class A and B drug charges.

Sonia Chivers, a 29-year-old woman from Driffield, East Yorkshire, joined an online group for adults with a sexual interest in children aged four and under. She filmed herself engaging in sexual activity in the presence of children and distributed the videos to the group, 'feeding' predators' demands. Police seized her phone following her arrest in December 2020, uncovering two such videos and an additional indecent image of a child. She had also discussed plans to abuse a child with an undercover officer. The investigation was supported by the National Crime Agency.
Pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13, and two counts each of making and distributing indecent images of children. Issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Stacy Ukaegbu, 27, of Alexandra Road, Hull, was involved in supplying cocaine between 30 September and 22 January. Police identified him via CCTV at a supermarket buying top-up for a drugs line mobile phone. A search of his home found three mobile phones, £250 cash and lighters with the drugs line number on them. He had prior convictions for possessing cocaine with intent to supply, supplying cocaine, and being concerned in supplying heroin and cocaine.
Admitted being concerned in supplying cocaine. Had six previous convictions, mostly for drugs offences. Mitigating factors included debt, attack, positive character references and two children. £250 cash forfeited to charity.
Shane Jessop

Shane Jessop undressed and raped a drunken and sleepy teenage girl after she passed out on a sofa at a party in Hull in September 2021. He had bought alcoholic drinks for the gathering. He carried her upstairs to a bedroom, removed her clothes, kissed her, and raped her for three to five minutes until he heard someone nearby. The victim suffered severe anxiety, flashbacks, and emotional distress.
Pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault. No previous convictions. Given indefinite sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender for life. Judge noted victim was particularly vulnerable and incapable of consenting.
Steven Mckenna

Steven McKenna, 32, of no fixed address, followed a woman out of the Apollo nightclub in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, after seeing her struggling to stand and appearing semi-conscious due to alcohol (two-and-a-half times over the legal drink-drive limit). He raped and sexually assaulted her in an isolated harbour area in the early hours last summer. When she called police, he spat at her twice and licked her legs. Parts of the incident caught on CCTV. Officers found her crying with frothy spittle in her hair.
Convicted by jury after denying wrongdoing. Ordered to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely. 60 previous offences including indecent assault on a female under 14. Judge Recorder Abdul Iqbal QC described offences as shameless and cruel against a vulnerable victim.
Thomas Mcmahon
Smuggling prohibited drugs into prison *

On June 22, 2025, while visiting his son Joseph Peers at Full Sutton high-security prison, Thomas McMahon hid 14 white oval-shaped painkiller tablets in a crisp packet. He then slid the packet across the table, rotating identical packets to avoid detection. Prison staff and CCTV observed the act. McMahon claimed the tablets were to help his son's back and knee pain. He was arrested and admitted the offence.
Pleaded guilty to smuggling prohibited painkillers into Full Sutton Prison. Previous convictions for drug-driving. Recorder Taryn Turner said it was serious offending in a custodial environment.

Tamer Eren, 42, a takeaway worker of Great Thornton Street in Hull, was convicted of raping a vulnerable 36-year-old woman on Drypool Bridge on 19 September. He loitered near Hull city centre pubs and clubs in the early hours, armed with Viagra tablets, waiting for a victim. He followed the woman walking alone, dragged her to the bridge, and assaulted her. Eren denied the rape, claiming consensual sex and blackmail, but a jury at Hull Crown Court convicted him after a March trial. He was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.

Tommy Ward

In July 2022, Tommy Ward, aged 23 from Hull Road in Hedon, East Yorkshire, carried out a brutal attack on a young woman, inflicting significant facial injuries and attempting to suffocate her. He fled the scene and destroyed his mobile phones. Ward had been cautioned in October 2021 for possession of an indecent image of a child, placing him on the sex offender's register for two years, with requirements including no contact with children. He breached these requirements, and the victim had young children who were potentially put at risk. Following the attack, he was arrested and charged. In March 2023 he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, and on 1 July 2023 he was sentenced at Hull Crown Court.

Toni Andrews
Taking indecent photographs of a child *

Toni Andrews, 23, of no fixed address, took indecent photographs of a child and sent them to her boyfriend Thomas Edeson. She was investigated by the National Crime Agency following Edeson’s conviction in August 2021 for sexually assaulting a young girl and taking indecent images of her. Andrews was arrested in December 2021 and admitted taking and sending one photo. Examination of her devices revealed almost 100 indecent images of children in categories A-C, over 500 prohibited images of children, and over 200 images showing extreme pornography. At Hull Crown Court on 22 November 2023, she pleaded guilty to seven charges and was sentenced to 16 months in prison, with a ten-year requirement to sign the sex offenders' register.
