On 28 October 2023, during a Gaza peace march in Hull city centre, Karl Penn shouted racist abuse from a car alongside about 100 marchers. After an opened plastic bottle was thrown at the car, Penn and a co-defendant got out. Penn lunged towards a man on the march and struck a woman who had stepped between the groups, knocking her glasses off and leaving her bruised from the left side of her face down to her collar bone. The judge found the blow was reckless rather than intentional. Penn later told a police officer: "You don't know what groups I'm part of. You will be all over the internet for this. You will be sorry."

Convicted after trial of assault by beating and racially aggravated threatening words or behaviour. District Judge Jayne Bryan found he showed no remorse and ordered rehabilitation to look at his thinking skills. Penn was previously a member of extreme right-wing groups including the EDL, Combat 18, the National Front and the Ku Klux Klan.

Billy Harry Scarah posted videos on TikTok and social media showing dogs fighting wild animals, including a bull lurcher named Buddy fighting a badger, resulting in severe injuries to the dog such as a missing part of his nose and extensive scarring. He failed to provide veterinary treatment for the dog's injuries and interfered with a badger sett by allowing a dog to enter it. The incidents occurred around March 2023, with evidence provided by The Naturewatch Foundation and RSPCA investigators.

Pleaded guilty to offences under the Animal Welfare Act and interfering with a badger sett. In mitigation, it was claimed he committed the offences due to a lack of structure and boredom, and he had turned his life around since then.

Baljinder Singh Gill, a pharmacist who ran a prison pharmacy in East Riding, pleaded guilty to stalking without fear of violence. After a relationship with a junior colleague ended in October 2021, he harassed her between December 2021 and May 2022 by making multiple calls and sending text messages and emails seeking repayment of gifts, including a claimed £50,000 payment towards her mortgage. The behaviour escalated when he placed a tracking device on her car to monitor her movements, which she reported to the police.

Pleaded guilty to stalking without fear of violence. He expressed shame and had completed an offender management course.

On 5 June 2018, Vitaliy Trofimov, master of the Russian oil tanker TECOIL POLARIS, approached Immingham Docks from Hamina, Finland. The vessel was due to load 1,665 tonnes of lubrication oil. MCA inspectors found missing correct navigation charts and voyage plan, incorrect stability calculations, broken navigation equipment and defective lifesaving gear. The ship was immediately detained and its safety certificate revoked. The captain admitted serious failings under the International Safety Management (ISM) Code.

Pleaded guilty. District Judge: “Many of the failures were down to yourself. You are responsible for all onboard and those on the high seas, that is why this is high culpability.” Vessel was detained.
