He entered the pub at 1.11am, was asked to leave twice due to obnoxious, loud, and aggressive behaviour towards women, but returned. While the woman was dancing, he positioned himself very close to her, stared at her on four occasions, and followed her to the bar at around 1.30am where he intimately touched her inappropriately. The incident occurred in the early hours, leaving the victim feeling distressed, shocked, preyed upon, powerless, and unsafe, with a profound ongoing effect. Mandruks, originally from Latvia and a Russian speaker, was employed in a well-paid engineering role in Hull at the time. He was arrested on 31st August upon returning from Latvia at Leeds Bradford Airport and held in custody since 2nd September.
Found guilty following a trial at Hull Magistrates' Court. Required to register as a sex offender for 10 years. Expressed remorse regarding the effect on the victim despite denying the charge. Previously clean record. Plans to return to Latvia upon release as he has no right to remain in the UK.

After moving in together, he repeatedly hurled abuse, made threats, assaulted her, and caused property damage between October 1, 2023, and April 7, 2024. Incidents included damaging a light switch and punching a wardrobe panel that fell on her in October 2023; waving a bread knife close to her face, snagging her jumper, putting her in a headlock, and trapping her shoulder in a door in November 2023; shattering a glass partition wall with blood splatters; grabbing her arms, pulling her onto a bed, headbutting and punching walls, and throwing her phone. After release from custody, he sent distressing messages despite no-contact conditions. In March and April 2024, he squeezed her arms and launched tirades of abuse. His heavy drinking exacerbated the aggressive behaviour, leaving the victim with lasting trauma, depression, panic attacks, nightmares, and forcing her to abandon her home.
Pleaded guilty on the day of a scheduled trial. Previous conviction for assaulting police in January 2013. Exemplary work record and references provided. Judge noted conduct intended to maximise fear and distress, systematic over a long period, exacerbated by alcohol.

He turned violent by grabbing her arm, digging nails into her neck, biting her cheek, forcing his thumb into her eye, seizing her jacket and hurling her to the ground causing injuries. He threatened to kill her and dispose of her body undiscovered. The victim felt belittled, worthless, isolated, constantly watched, lost confidence, suffered anxiety, sleep and eating issues, and felt she would always be his victim.
Pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behaviour and two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm. Judge John Thackray KC noted it was a campaign of domestic abuse over two years, involving jealousy, possessiveness, monitoring, violence, and a threat to kill. Issued a 10-year restraining order. Alcohol dependent, lost job, has a 17-year-old son.

Hewa Magari, 45, from Mitcham, trafficked eight Romanian nationals to the UK between November and December 2020, including a 15-year-old boy. He lured the victims with false promises of accommodation, fair pay, food and legitimate work, only to confine them to a small on-site room, force them to labour in his car wash and subject them to physical and psychological abuse. During the Covid lockdown, their ordeal worsened as they were confined to a shed on the premises and denied access to their travel documents. Officers attended the car wash after the 15-year-old victim contacted police and found two women in their 20s and five men aged in their teens, 20s and 30s, along with the boy, all living in a cramped on-site shed for months. One victim, a woman in her 20s, was hospitalised due to severe infections requiring multiple surgeries as a result of the neglect and conditions endured.
Found guilty of eight counts of holding a person in slavery or servitude. Also handed a 10-year Slavery and Trafficking Prevention Order.

On May 3, 2023, in Cottingham, during an argument in a van, he slammed the door on her foot, drove at speed, pulled her hair, hit her face causing a burst lip, put her in a headlock at traffic lights to prevent escape, and told her to walk home. The victim suffered considerable impact, including sleeping problems and fear for her life and children.

Pleaded guilty to exposure and sexual assault. Placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228.

On one occasion in June 2020, he transported five 1-kilogram blocks of cocaine valued at around £500,000, which were refused due to quality, leading to his arrest on the M62 near Goole.
