18-month community order
On May 26, 2019, Jade Kelly, 38, from King Georges Field, Stow-on-the-Wold, lost control due to built-up emotions and a belief that her 70-year-old neighbour John Clifford was spreading rumours about her children being taken into care (they were actually with her mother) and making sexualised remarks. She went to his driveway wielding a ball-hammer, smashed three windows and dented the roof of Clifford's VW Passat taxi, and damaged two windows and a panel on Nigel Crewe's taxi. She wrestled with Clifford who tried to take the hammer from her.
Pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal damage; convicted after trial of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place. Ordered to pay £260 compensation to each victim and made subject of a 12-month restraining order not to contact John Clifford. Suffered from mental health problems including PTSD.
