Aman Vyas, known as the 'E17 night stalker', prowled the streets of Walthamstow, east London, in the spring of 2009, committing a series of violent rapes. He murdered 35-year-old Michelle Samaraweera by raping and strangling her in a children's playground on May 30, 2009, after she fought back. He also raped three other women aged between 35 and 59 in March and April 2009, and was convicted of grievous bodily harm. Vyas fled to India two days after a Crimewatch appeal and was arrested in 2011, leading to an eight-year extradition process before being returned to the UK in 2019.

Hrymak demanded small amounts (£30-£50) after victims refused initial requests, and in two cases, he followed through by distributing the images. The blackmail occurred in November 2018, motivated by £7,500 debt from a cannabis habit. Victims included a banking auditor, university admissions officer, two student nurses, and an IT boss at a private bank. One victim described the ordeal as 'cyber raped' and now suffers panic attacks; another paid £110 out of fear.

Gary Finch, 45, of Burstead Close, Hollingdean, Brighton, acted as an administrator for an organised criminal network from Malaysia, importing and selling pirated DVDs via eBay. Over a 12-month period, he sold £255,961 worth of counterfeit DVDs, mostly box sets of American TV series such as Ghost Whisperer, Californication, and Kyle XY. The DVDs were shipped from overseas with fake UK postmarks. Sussex Police, with FACT, executed a warrant at his home in May 2009, recovering pirated DVDs, computer equipment, and financial documents. He transferred substantial monies overseas, earning £2,000 monthly. Initially, a jury failed to reach a verdict at Croydon Crown Court in May 2010, but he pleaded guilty before a retrial in 2011. A forfeiture order was granted for £34,074 in his account in August 2011.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of importing counterfeit DVDs and three counts of money laundering. Judge John Anderson noted that Finch knew or suspected his actions were illegal for a year, that the monies represented criminal property, and that his actions damaged the legitimate film industry. She assisted in making indecent images of children and performed a sexual act with the family dog, captured on video. Edmunds pleaded guilty to making indecent photographs of children, possessing prohibited images of children, and intercourse with an animal. Her involvement included helping to produce child abuse material and engaging in bestiality. Police became suspicious in 2016 when a letter contained details only he knew and matched previous handwriting. CCTV captured him dumping rubbish and spraying weed killer on 20 July 2016. He was arrested later that year and found with a stash of letters and address labels.
Pleaded guilty to criminal damage and stalking. Subject to a 20-year restraining order and ordered to pay nearly £2,000 in compensation.

Joel Osei, along with Diana Cristea, used a fake Grindr profile to lure Adrian Murphy, a 43-year-old Irish dancer and choreographer, to his death. They poisoned Murphy with scopolamine, a date-rape drug, in order to rob him. After Murphy's death, they stole his financial assets and attempted to purchase £62,000 in diamonds in New York using his cards. Murphy's body was found on 4 June 2019. Two days earlier, the pair had poisoned another man with the same drug, leaving him hospitalised, and stole his possessions. Osei was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court in October 2020.
Convicted of murder, two counts of theft, and eight counts of fraud. The judge criticised the expectation that victims' embarrassment would silence them.

Frank Thomas, 32, of Mitcham, was a co-organiser of a south London drug network responsible for running multiple cannabis factories between September 2017 and April 2018. The operation produced cannabis worth over £200,000 a year. Thomas was directly involved in the production and supply of Class A drugs. On 3 April 2018, when police raided a property in Coulsdon, Thomas and Taylor Deacon attempted to escape but were detained. Drugs were found at the scene and later at Thomas's home. He faced charges of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, cannabis production, and electricity theft.
Along with Taylor Deacon, masterminded the cannabis factories. Tried to flee during the Coulsdon raid on 3 April 2018 but was caught. Drugs were also recovered from his home.
Coelle Holly Beaupierre

Coelle Holly Beaupierre subjected her former partner to years of violence. In February 2019, she attacked the victim in their Mitcham home, accusing her of infidelity. The victim suffered repeated beatings with bruises, cuts, and a footprint-shaped mark from being stamped on. She escaped by jumping from a second-floor window and fled to a pub. Police uncovered earlier assaults, including a 2016 incident in Wallington where Beaupierre broke the victim's nose with a punch, requiring surgery.

Chris Pearson, aged 15 to 16 at the time, sexually abused a nine-year-old boy on multiple occasions between June 1995 and July 1997 at Beaconsfield Road, Chatham, Kent. He groomed the victim under the guise of playing music guessing games and wrestling matches, during which he raped the boy repeatedly and committed an act of indecency with a child. The victim did not realise at the time that what was happening was wrong, later suffering mental torment, flashbacks, and years of suffering.
Denied the charges but was unanimously convicted of three counts of rape and one count of indecency with a child. Ordered to sign the sex offenders' register for life, barred from working with children and other vulnerable groups, and must serve two-thirds of the sentence before eligible for parole. Judge Deborah Charles noted lack of remorse.
Thirunga Damayantharan

Thirunga Damayantharan of My Lawn Estates created bogus tenancies and kept more than £15,000 in client deposits over a six-year period. More than 33 transactions were made for properties primarily in and around Croydon. Evidence was heard from more than a dozen prospective tenants whose deposits were unlawfully held. Victims were rushed to pay, often at cashpoint machines, given excuses why they could not move in, and most received nothing back.
Found guilty of creating bogus tenancies and failing to return deposits. Judge Gower described the operation as thoroughly dishonest.

Stephen Henry Walker, a 68-year-old former Metropolitan Police officer and children's football coach from Chipstead Lane, Lower Kingswood, Tadworth, Surrey, was handed a 29-year prison sentence at Croydon Crown Court for a series of heinous sexual assaults against minors. Walker's crimes involved both boys and girls, exploiting his positions of trust within the community and law enforcement. In two trials in 2021, he was found guilty on 40 counts of sexual assault relating to 15 victims, with the assaults spanning years and causing lasting trauma to the young victims.

Taylor Deacon

Taylor Deacon, 28, of Caterham, was a key figure in a south London drug network. Between September 2017 and April 2018, the gang operated at least three large-scale cannabis factories with an estimated annual street value of over £200,000. Deacon was directly involved in production and supply. On 3 April 2018, during a Met Police raid in Coulsdon, he attempted to escape but was apprehended. He was found in possession of cash and Class A drugs. Subsequent searches of his home uncovered additional drugs and evidence that he was cultivating cannabis there. He was charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, cannabis production, electricity theft, and possession of criminal property.
Played a leading role in running multiple cannabis factories. Arrested after trying to flee a police raid in Coulsdon on 3 April 2018; found with cash and Class A drugs, with further drugs and a cannabis grow discovered at his home.
William Trotter

William Trotter attacked a 17-year-old girl on March 19, 2020, moments after they got off the N199 bus in Bromley, south London. He hit her over the head with a blunt object, strangled her until unconscious, dragged her into undergrowth along Dagonet Road, Downham, London BR1, and raped her twice. He had been drinking strong lager all day, wore a pink face covering, pretended to go opposite direction then chased her. Victim screamed, residents called police who arrived four minutes later. Trotter fled but was arrested six days later via DNA match. Previously released from life sentence in 2006 for similar offence, after parole board deemed him no longer a risk in 2019.
Convicted by jury after denying rape and kidnap with intent to commit a sexual offence, though admitted four charges of rape. Judge Elizabeth Lowe noted he is an extremely violent serial sexual predator with no remorse, significant risks to the public, and prior life sentence from 2006. Must keep police informed of personal particulars if released.

On 14 February, an 84-year-old pensioner and her 52-year-old daughter withdrew £5,000 from a bank on Streatham High Road. Blackwood followed them onto a bus, into a supermarket on Green Lane, and to a residential address in Thornton Heath. He dragged the elderly woman to the ground and snatched her handbag containing £2,500. The daughter tried to intervene but was punched, kicked, and slammed to the ground. Blackwood then fled on foot. He was tracked via CCTV and arrested three months later at Brixton Police Station.
Pleaded guilty to robbery and assault. Claimed he was forced to commit the crime, but the judge dismissed this as lies.

On 11 October 2023, Rajenthiram Mithinraj, a delivery driver, was drinking with friends in the car park of a Travelodge in South Croydon when he attempted to rape a heavily intoxicated woman. The hotel receptionist had already alerted police about the group's behaviour, but officers were unable to attend in time. CCTV footage showed Mithinraj trying to force himself on the victim despite her obvious intoxication. His friend was cleared of rape charges, but Mithinraj was convicted.
Found guilty by jury after CCTV evidence. Judge Clair Harden-Frost noted the victim was incapable of consenting and that Mithinraj knew how vulnerable she was. Defence described him as previously law-abiding and religious.
