Additional patrols arrested him, and a search revealed a carrier bag behind the radio with a six-ounce block of cocaine valued at £12,000, plus cash and phones. A search of his guesthouse room found £26,000 in cash. He was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to supply and money laundering.
Admitted the charges in July 2025. Proceeds of Crime Act order for £31,144 issued later at Canterbury Crown Court.

Patrick Howlett, 58, sent £56,000 to the Philippines to pay for livestreams of children being sexually abused. He was in regular contact with facilitators, including a woman who abused her own children at his direction in exchange for payments. He received and shared images and videos of the abuse, with one victim abused from age eight to 14, generating 1,277 images. Between 2014 and 2021, he made 796 transactions totaling £55,918 to facilitators for abusing children, resulting in 19 children being identified and safeguarded in the Philippines.
Pleaded guilty early in his trial. The Judge described him as showing a breath-taking lack of regard for the sanctity of childhood. He will also be subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Patrick Lee Howlett

Between 2015 and 2021, Patrick Lee Howlett, 58, of Canterbury, sent over £55,000 from himself and others to paedophiles in the Philippines to encourage and facilitate the sexual abuse of young children, including family members, and to obtain images of the abuse for his own gratification. He was in possession of over 14,000 indecent images and videos of children, including nearly 1,000 category A images. His activity was uncovered during a Danish investigation into a convicted paedophile. Devices seized after his 2021 arrest contained graphic conversations and financial records showing payments to abusers. He initially claimed the material was unsolicited and that payments were to stop abuse, but evidence disproved this. Children involved have been safeguarded.
Pleaded guilty to six counts of arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child, three counts of intentionally encouraging the distribution of indecent images of children, two counts of encouraging or assisting the distribution of indecent images of children believing it would be committed, one count of possessing prohibited images of children, and nine counts of making indecent photographs of a child. Additional four years on extended licence. Indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposed.

Denied the offences but was found guilty by a jury. He was previously subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order due to prior convictions and was placed on the sex offender’s register for seven years. Detective Sergeant Frank Bloomfield commended the victim’s courage and emphasised that it is never too late to report such crimes.

Thomas Holford shook his five-week-old daughter, Everleigh Stroud, with excessive force, causing catastrophic brain injuries, broken ribs, and leg injuries after she interrupted his late-night gaming session on April 20, 2021, in Ramsgate, Kent. He attempted to stop her crying by gripping or clamping her mouth, and she was rushed to hospital the next day, where she remained in a coma for a year before life support was turned off.

On their return, they were stopped by border control at Coquelles and claimed they were on a fishing trip to check out a lake near Brimeux and planned to get drunk, hoping to make it back for the West Ham game. The rear compartment of the van was opened, revealing the migrants sitting on top of tools and plasterboard without documentation. The men denied knowledge of the migrants. They were arrested and charged in May 2025.
Admitted conspiring to assist with the illegal entry of eight Vietnamese nationals into the UK. Sentence suspended due to inordinate delays in the case. Judge noted that without the delay, they would have gone to prison, but five years is a long time to live with anxiety. Both men have rebuilt their lives and shown genuine remorse.

In another incident that night on Beaconsfield Road, he was confronted inside a bedroom but fled empty-handed. He was identified via CCTV, added to the Kent Police most wanted list, and arrested on April 15, 2025, at Holyhead Port while trying to board a ferry to Ireland.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary. Detective Constable Rosalynd Friend commented that King showed no regard for the distress caused to victims and that his case serves as a warning to others.

Matthew Downing, 25, from Dover, breached his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (issued January 2022 following conviction for making indecent images of children) by using unauthorised devices without notifying Kent Police: smartphone, laptop, two virtual computers, anonymous web browser, online storage device, social media app with disappearing messages, and dark web to make indecent images of children. He also failed to register dating app usernames. After going missing, he was found sleeping in a newly-purchased car in Gomshall, Surrey.
Pleaded guilty to all 13 offences, including 10 breaches of his SHPO. Sentence includes two years and three months for unrelated offences committed outside of Kent.

Ozioma Egbujor was involved in the supply of class A substances in the Medway towns between February and March 2025. Police were alerted to suspicious behaviour on March 3 at an address in Magpie Hall Road, where they found him with 40 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine in his trouser pocket, along with cash and two mobile phones. A further search recovered 100 more wraps concealed on his person.

Paul Redford
Making and distributing indecent images of children *

In 2022 Paul Redford, 64, from Ramsgate, joined a social media application where he used the platform to download and share thousands of indecent images of children with other users. On 1 March 2024, officers from Kent Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team visited Redford’s home address following information received that indecent images of children were being accessed from the property. Upon arrival and when officers told him why they were there, he admitted he was responsible and after his phone was downloaded, officers found 730 of the most serious category A images and videos, 642 category B and 944 category C. They also found he had distributed 40 images and videos through the social media application. Redford was later charged with making and distributing indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornography and prohibited items.
Pleaded guilty to the offences. Also given a 10 year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and subject to strict sex offender notification requirements for 10 years.

Harrison Lawrence-Van Pooss

Life imprisonment with minimum term of 25 years and 183 days
Harrison Lawrence-Van Pooss murdered Claire Knights on 23 August 2023, as she walked her dog back from the beach at Minnis Bay, Birchington, Kent. He sexually assaulted and beat her repeatedly before leaving her body concealed in a nearby dyke, which was discovered two days later by her son and his friends. The day before the murder, on 22 August 2023, he committed voyeurism by upskirting a woman, was confronted, and fled. He camped near the beach overnight and attacked Claire the following afternoon. After the murder, he took her dog, bought treats for it, and attempted to dispose of evidence. Claire's blood was found on his backpack, and items he purchased were located in his nearby 'den'. He was arrested that evening for the voyeurism offence, initially denying knowledge of his identity, unaware at the time that Claire had been killed.
Pleaded guilty to murder and voyeurism. Prior to the murder, he was caught upskirting a woman and went on the run. Detained for mental health treatment after arrest; claimed memory loss before pleading guilty.
Antony Allen

Between July 2022 and November 2024, Thomas Godden, a 26-year-old heterosexual man in a relationship, used Tinder and Bumble to target vulnerable gay men seeking companionship. He formed fake romantic relationships and defrauded three victims out of a total of £28,000 by requesting money for living expenses and travel, promising repayment but using it for his own lifestyle. Victim C lost £26,483.06 and was left in significant debt; Victim A lost £1,869.90; Victim B lost £135.50. Two victims were on the autism spectrum. Godden used manipulation, excuses, emotional blackmail, and threats of self-harm when challenged. Digital evidence showed searches about romance scamming and his relationship status.
Pleaded guilty to three charges of fraud by false representation. Targeted vulnerable gay men on dating apps, causing significant financial and emotional harm.

Jack Colin Cracknell, 22, of Faversham, Kent, was driving with four other passengers in his car in the early hours of the morning on 3 December 2022. He reached speeds of 117mph along the New Dover Road in Canterbury, a road with a 40mph speed limit. As he approached a roundabout near the New Gate Inn pub, he hit a kerb, causing the car to go into the air and roll over, before colliding with the pub building. One passenger, Lucy Billingham, 18, died at the scene despite efforts by emergency workers. Another passenger suffered fractures to two bones and underwent an operation on the day of the collision to insert a metal plate and screws into their arm.
Pleaded guilty to one count of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Disqualified from driving for eight years.

On 30 August 2018, co-conspirators were arrested in France while loading 12 Vietnamese migrants onto the boat. Lawrence was arrested by the National Crime Agency in the UK shortly after.

Harry Marshall, 20, robbed Dumpton Post Office on Ramsgate Road, Broadstairs, at 6.42am on Saturday 3 August 2024. He threatened his victim with a blade, demanded money from the till, fled with cash on a moped, dropping an extendable baton. Kent Police arrested him less than four hours later nearby; cash was seized.
Pleaded guilty to robbery, possession of a knife and possession of an offensive weapon.

Mika Voorhans tried to smuggle £4m worth of ketamine (100 kilos, a Class B drug) into the UK via the Channel Tunnel. He was stopped by Border Force officers in France on 4 December 2023 while attempting to board with his van. Officers discovered the drugs hidden behind panelling. Evidence included CCTV footage of him buying wood in Amsterdam, receipts, tools in the van, his DNA on the drugs, and videos on his phone.
Pleaded guilty to importing Class B drugs.

A 29-year-old drug dealer from Folkestone was found hiding in a wardrobe when police arrested him on October 2nd. Kent Police linked a mobile phone number to Bridgland after it was used to contact a known drug user multiple times in July 2024. Officers visited his address, arrested him, and a search with a police drugs dog discovered class A drugs including cocaine and heroin hidden in a tub of nail varnish bottles, along with cash and a mobile phone.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
Anthony Collins

Kent Police was contacted in March 2023 when the victim reported that she had been sexually assaulted by Anthony Collins. He was identified as the perpetrator, questioned about the offences later the same month, and later charged with sexual activity with a child.
Admitted the offences before Canterbury Crown Court in May 2024. Formerly of Maison Dieu Road, Dover. Aged 55.

Felix Boo attempted to import nearly 300g of cannabis from the USA; package intercepted by Border Force on 16 May 2022. Police executed warrant at his property in Whitstable, arresting him. Search uncovered further drugs including ketamine and cocaine, over £40,000 in cash and two £10,000 Rolex watches. Phone analysis revealed hundreds of messages relating to local drug deals; financial checks showed conversion of large amounts to cryptocurrency.
Admitted possession of class A and class B drugs with intent to supply, importation of class B drugs and concealing or transferring criminal property. Aged 24.
Callum Maycock

Callum Maycock approached a schoolgirl victim near Foord Road in Folkestone on the morning of Thursday 27 June 2024 and made inappropriate comments to her. He then touched her inappropriately, causing the victim to run away and report the incident, which prompted a police investigation. Police officers patrolled the area the following day and spotted Maycock, who matched the description given by the victim. He was arrested 24 hours after the offence took place.
Admitted sexual assault. Formerly of an address in Folkestone.
