The harassment lasted for months and involved coercive and controlling behaviour causing serious distress. He refused to seek help or stop until the victim confronted him at his home. The victim reported the abuse to police in March 2024, leading to his arrest.

Jia Xin Teo, a 22-year-old student from Malaysia studying at Coventry University, concealed her pregnancy and gave birth to a full-term baby on 4 March 2024 in Coventry. Shortly after birth, she placed the baby in a cereal box, then inside a sealable plastic bag, and concealed the box in a suitcase. The baby was alive after birth but died by the time police discovered her body two days later on 6 March 2024. Teo lied to friends, doctors, and police about the baby's location until forced to reveal it.
Denied murdering her baby claiming she heard voices telling her to kill the baby, but the jury rejected the defence and found her guilty of murder.

William Brady, 57, stabbed his ex-partner Pauline Sweeney at her address in Long Close Avenue, Coventry, in March 2024. Brady was arrested and confessed by stating, 'I've killed her.'

Peter Jenkins, also known as Peter Greenham, sexually abused four young girls over a period of two decades, with assaults dating back to the 1980s. He used his position of power and trust as a school teacher and in a church holiday club to groom and abuse vulnerable victims. One victim was befriended while he was studying at university, another abused after he became a teacher, and another groomed after he married. The force was contacted in 2020 by a solicitor who said Jenkins, then 53 from Solihull, wanted to confess. After questioning, detectives traced the four victims, all of whom were treated with sensitivity.
Admitted 15 charges including rape, indecent assault, sexual assault, unlawful sexual intercourse and inciting a girl to commit an act of gross indecency. Ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.

He turned right into a petrol station across an oncoming vehicle, causing a head-on collision. The Subaru spun around 180 degrees, hitting a motorcyclist who was stationary behind him, knocking the rider off his bike into the hedgerow. The motorcyclist sustained serious life-changing injuries including multiple fractures and damage to the vision in his eyes, which causes headaches.

He drove dangerously through Leamington town centre, Tachbrook Road, Queensway, Heathcote Lane, Othello Avenue to Bishops Tachbrook, B4100, Fosseway, Gaydon, and Kineton, reaching speeds over 90mph and jumping red lights. The chase ended when he crashed into barriers in the centre of Bishops Itchington, which was closed for a carnival. He was arrested on Fishers Road.

Pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Will be subject to a restraining order upon release. Investigating officer described him as a violent and dangerous man and emphasised that domestic violence will not be tolerated.
Mitchell Peter Willison

In the early hours of June 1, 2024, Mitchell Peter Willison and another man, both wearing balaclavas, gained access to the rear garden of a property on Stoneleigh Close in Nuneaton. They forced entry through the back door and confronted the owner on the stairs. Willison threatened to cut the victim’s throat and demanded the keys to his moped along with £10 in cash. After obtaining the items, Willison wore the victim’s helmet and rode off on the stolen moped. He was stopped by officers on Tunnel Road just 15 minutes later, attempted to hide in a bush, and was arrested. Willison was found in possession of a switchblade-style knife and cannabis. Later, in custody, he caused criminal damage by kicking a toilet, detaching it from the wall.
Willison claimed he was in debt for sniffing coke. Investigating officer DC Dawson stated that this was an act of criminal violence and that the community should feel safer.

Rakesh Jassal, along with Cadel Cumberbatch, opened fire on houses in Coventry. On November 13, 2021, they were in a car on Anglian Way, where they fired a shotgun at a house after sounding the horn, breaking a window. On November 14, 2021, they arrived at an address on Station Street East and fired a shotgun at an outbuilding storing cannabis, then fired a third shot at the front of the house, breaking a living room window. They also carjacked and assaulted a man they knew in Duke Barn Field, causing him head injuries. No one was injured in the shooting incidents, which targeted family homes.

Edward Foster, 77, from Holbrook Lane, Coventry, groomed what he believed to be two girls under the age of 16 online, urging them not to tell anyone and asking one for indecent images. In August 2022, he arranged to meet one of them, believed to be a 13-year-old girl, at Bedworth Railway Station. Warwickshire Police were alerted, leading to his arrest at the scene. He had previous convictions for related offences.
Pleaded guilty to one count of meeting a girl under the age of 16 following grooming and two counts of attempting to engage in sexual conversation with a child. He had prior convictions for similar offences in the West Midlands. Detective Constable Sam Hughes described him as a dangerous man and highlighted the risks of online grooming.

Elena Anghel, a 51-year-old Romanian national suffering from delusions linked to paranoid schizophrenia, killed her five-year-old grandson David-Mario Lazar at their house in Poplar Road, Earlsdon, Coventry on January 25, 2023. The schoolboy suffered 29 areas of sharp force injuries after Anghel lost contact with reality due to an acute and sudden deterioration in her mental health. She had an extensive history of treatment in Romania for psychotic and depressive disorders dating back to at least 2009, including eight stays in psychiatric units, but had not informed her GP in the UK. Shortly before 5.15pm, after the boy returned home from school with his father, Anghel went to a nearby Co-op store in a distressed state, leading police to discover the body. She made delusional claims that she killed him to prevent him from suffering serious assaults by someone else.
Admitted manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility due to paranoid schizophrenia. No previous convictions. Expressed profound remorse and diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. Supported by medical professionals for lifelong treatment in hospital.
Johnny Bradley

Johnny Bradley, 36, of Cumberland Crescent, crashed into street furniture, drove through a red light and narrowly missed colliding with a pedestrian after losing control of his vehicle in the early hours of September 10, 2023, while driving erratically through Leamington. Warwickshire Police located the damaged car in Helen’s Road, where it had lost its front bumper, nearside tyre and nearside lights, with sparks coming from it. Bradley smelt of alcohol, had glazed eyes and was unsteady on his feet. He refused to provide a specimen in custody and was also arrested for a public order offence after swearing loudly in hospital despite warnings.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen and using abusive words likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
Ben Dunn

Ben Dunn drove a blue Subaru Legacy dangerously through Bowling Green Lane, Church Lane, Vicarage Lane, and New Road in Nuneaton on October 31. He failed to stop when indicated by officers, crashed the vehicle in a field, and fled on foot before being located and arrested by a police dog. He provided a positive breath test indicating alcohol consumption.
