A search revealed Class A drugs including cocaine and crack cocaine worth £22,700 and heroin worth £28,700 (total £51,400), digital scales, cling film, and a cutting agent hidden in a ceiling cavity.

On 8 January 2024, at 1.20am, Shane McCarthy attempted to break into a property in Granby Grove, Southampton, by gaining entry through the kitchen window. The two occupants locked themselves in a bedroom while McCarthy shouted outside. After failing to open the door, McCarthy started a fire on top of the kitchen stove, causing popping sounds and triggering the fire alarm. The victims escaped and saw smoke filling the property. McCarthy had left but returned and was arrested by police. The incident resulted in fire damage to the cooker and hob, as well as significant smoke damage to the ceilings, leaving the victims in fear for their lives.
Pleaded guilty to arson in February.

DNA recovered from the scene identified Wilson as the offender.

She was caught with three street wraps of cocaine in Basingstoke on Sunday, December 29. She also stole multiple gift sets from Boots in Southampton on Wednesday, March 19, and Monday, March 24.
Pleaded guilty. The reason for imprisonment is because the defendant has a flagrant disregard for court orders and for people and their property.

Matthew James Hunt was paid £250 by a Southampton resident to dispose of household items during a home refurbishment. Instead, on October 6, 2023, he dumped the waste, including a bath, cupboard doors, steel pipes, garden waste, and other rubbish, across 300 yards of Springford Road in Southampton using a lorry. This caused the road to be closed for a major cleanup operation by council crews and significantly disrupted residents.
Pleaded guilty to dumping waste without an environmental permit. Has 22 previous offences including domestic violence and assault of a child. Previously received a suspended sentence in 2021 for a similar offence. Expressed remorse in court and stated he is trying to turn his life around.

Liam McCarthy, of Copperfield Road, Southampton, sent threatening emails to Caroline Nokes, MP for Romsey and Southampton North, between May 15, 2022, and March 4, 2023, after cancelling a scheduled meeting and accusing her of being 'evil' and a 'liar'. The emails escalated to threats of violence against members of the Department for Work and Pensions. He also left threatening voicemails to Steve Smith, former head of stronger communities at Southampton City Council, between November 14 and 21, 2022, including threats to use a machete and strangle him. McCarthy was arrested in December 2022, breached bail by contacting Nokes in January and March 2023, and his actions caused Nokes to fear for her safety and constantly monitor her surroundings.
Pleaded guilty to harassment charges. Mitigating factors included emotional distress over housing situation. Judge Anthony Callaway commented that people deserve to work without threats of violence and noted the breach of bail conditions.

He struck and kicked the victim numerous times, causing ABH-level injuries to his nose, face and eye, and made threats suggesting he had a knife before fleeing the scene. Corbin was arrested shortly after and charged on 10 August with attempted robbery.

He swindled £37,000 from victims, tricking one into paying a £4,237 bill at Claridge's hotel in London, defrauding another of £7,500, and taking £500 deposit from Carol-Anne Board for a non-existent property rental in Sandbanks, Dorset, leaving her homeless. He also took £1,000 from her friend. Coombs admitted the offences and was sentenced in 2017, but absconded to Russia in 2018, leading to an extended sentence upon return.

David White, aged 12-15 at the time (around 20 years ago), raped a younger boy orally and forced him to touch him. He repeatedly sexually assaulted a younger girl by groping her breasts and bottom, forcing her hand down his trousers, escalating to more forceful and aggressive behaviour. Incidents occurred frequently, sometimes with adults present. He threatened to rape the girl if she reported him. Victims, now adults, suffered severe long-term anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and required therapy.
Pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child, sexual activity with a child, causing or inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity, inciting a boy to engage in sexual activity, and rape of a child. Offences committed when aged 12-15. Prior suspended sentence for possessing indecent images of children. Mitigating: history of own sexual abuse, young age at time of offences, vulnerability if incarcerated. Judge bound by sentencing guidelines applicable at time of offences treating him as a youth.

Phones showed sales of cannabis and cocaine. Bank accounts showed £12,000 in third-party deposits consistent with dealing.

On 6 March, at 10.30pm, officers on patrol in Southampton city centre found Dorobisz in the driver's seat of a black BMW parked at the end of Bellevue Road. A search of him and the vehicle revealed a suitcase in the boot containing £3,000 of cocaine, £1,720 of cannabis and amphetamine worth £2,460, along with £4,200 in cash, weighing scales and a knuckle duster. A warrant search of his home address in Milner Court yielded a zombie knife and several mobile phones.
Pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, two counts of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, and acquire/use/possess criminal property.

In October 2022, police seized multiple devices from Darren Halliwell’s home in Blackwater Drive, Totton, including a mobile phone. Examination revealed six category A (most severe), 22 category B and 28 category C indecent images of children aged three to 12. He denied possession but admitted sexual attraction to children. Previously sentenced in July 2011 at the same court for possessing 5,000 indecent images, receiving a three-year community order.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images. Must sign sex offenders register for 10 years, subject to sexual harm prevention order, 30 rehabilitation activity sessions and pay £150 costs. Judge: 'You didn’t learn your lesson from 2011 and here we are again. Daniel Cole burgled a pensioner's home in Charnwood Close, Calmore on 4 September 2024, pretending to be a relative when a carer arrived, stealing a sat nav worth £30 and an Amazon Fire tablet worth £180. On 5 October 2024, while living in a tent with his partner, he pushed her backwards causing her to fall and hit her head, and punched her multiple times resulting in two black eyes and bruising to her chest. On 18 October 2024, he stole a Playstation controller worth £60 from a family member while visiting to 'build bridges'.
Pleaded guilty to burglary, two assaults occasioning actual bodily harm, theft, and failing to attend court. 32 previous convictions. Bipolar, personality disorder, ADHD, and former heroin addiction; came off class A drugs while on remand. Recorder Barry McElduff noted: “You’re not all bad – you were a carer for your partner for a number of years. I also acknowledge you have taken steps to get clean. You can rebuild your life.”

Daniel Rushton (39) of Salisbury Road, Totton, was arrested after software installed on his mobile phone as part of a sexual harm prevention order flagged three images depicting bestiality. In interview, he made comprehensive admissions and gave officers the passcode to his phone. No other indecent material was found.
Pleaded guilty to one count of possessing extreme pornographic images. Previously handed a suspended sentence in 2023 for attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child online. Elidjon Dedaj and Kujtim Qungeli were near a white van facing the wrong way in a one-way system in Alfred Street on 19 March. They tried to run away when officers approached but were detained nearby. A search of a nearby property revealed a large quantity of cannabis being grown under high powered lights, evidence of a substantial fire near the fuse box, and dozens of bin bags filled with cannabis believed to have a street value of £352,000.

Ellie May Trewin

Ellie May Trewin (19) of Blackfield Road, Fawley, a provisional driver, had been drinking at The Anchor Inn in Totton before driving her Ford Ka home on 16th August 2024. She lost control on a bend on Normandy Way, Marchwood, mounting a grass verge, ploughing into a tree and rolling the car. Her passenger, boyfriend Dominic Davis-Smith (30), from Holbury, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered catastrophic internal injuries, dying at the scene. Trewin was almost twice the alcohol limit (roadside breathalyser 69, limit 35; blood test 96, limit 80). Crash caused by inexperience, impairment, likely distraction and excess speed.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving. Judge took into account her difficult background and mental health issues. Banned from driving for six years and must take an extended re-test. Sentence to be served in a young offender’s institute.

On August 12, Frankie Katciotis, 18, from Hythe, was driving a Seat Ibiza and smashed into 61-year-old cyclist Steven Jones from behind on Hilltop Road between Fawley and Beaulieu in the New Forest. He failed to spot the cyclist in time due to speeding well over the 40mph limit and the low, blinding sun.

Hayden Bryant

On 30 June 2024, just before 8pm, Hayden Bryant (21), of Jubilee Close in Fordingbridge, was parked in a narrow lane on Bickerley Road, Ringwood, in a BMW with a passenger, inhaling nitrous oxide (laughing gas) via balloons. Two pedestrians, unknown to him, walked past after leaving The Railway pub. Bryant beeped at them, then revved the engine, swerved the car towards them. One victim jumped to a grass verge but was struck, sustaining a 10cm deep laceration to his knee exposing the kneecap, tyre marks on his foot, requiring surgery to repair tendons, resulting in permanent scar, time off work, constant pain, anxiety, and sleep issues. The car also swerved towards the brother but missed. Bryant fled the scene at speed. He was seen with a balloon in his mouth before impact.
Pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Previous driving offences include a suspended sentence with 110 hours unpaid work from Swindon Magistrates’ Court and six penalty points for failing to stop after a road accident. Judge Nigel Peters KC noted the defendant's use of nitrous oxide affected his driving ability and highlighted the victim's suffering.

The other seven offences in Mansbridge included four assaults by punching, kicking, biting and stabbing with a knife; two instances of criminal damage by stabbing a sofa, cushion and phone with a knife; rape in November; and false imprisonment by locking her in her flat for a week. During one assault he said 'If I could get away with killing you, I would'. Both women reported to police on 28 November 2020.
Found guilty by a jury of rape, false imprisonment, four counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and two counts of criminal damage. Ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.

The first incident occurred at around 8am on 1 December last year in Shirley. Stott cycled past the victim, a 24-year-old woman, and then cycled back to sexually assault her over her clothing. The second incident took place on 14 December last year at around 8am on Wimpson Lane. The victim, aged 12, was walking with a friend when Stott wrapped his arms around her and pinned her to the ground before sexually assaulting her over her clothing. Her friend was able to help her get free before they left the scene.
Pleaded guilty on 18 March to sexual assault and sexual assault of a child under 13. Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposed and restraining orders preventing him from contacting his victims.

Alexander Williams, driving home from work at Fawley refinery around 5am, suddenly pulled out into the oncoming lane on the A326 near Hardley roundabout near Fawley, colliding head-on with David Quarrel's van. Williams claimed he followed a car overtaking a slow tanker, but dash cam footage showed no tanker. Quarrel suffered multiple fractures (ribs, spine, pelvis, leg), lacerated liver, and required cutting from the vehicle. He endured long recovery with anxiety, depression, nightmares, flashbacks, loss of confidence in night driving, constant pain, and inability to fish or stand long.
Pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Showed remorse in court, sobbing during hearing. Described as momentary lapse of judgement. Sole earner with young family.
Aaron Low
Causing grievous bodily harm *

2 years imprisonment suspended for 2 years, 10 days rehabilitation activities, 50 supervised sessions with the probation service
On 21 April 2022, at around 8pm in supported living accommodation on Emsworth Road, Lymington, Aaron Low and his victim had been drinking at a pub, bought vodka and energy drinks, and returned home. They had sex during which he bit her cheek and neck causing injury. An argument ensued after she checked her face in the bathroom. Low pushed her to the ground, kicked her repeatedly in the chest and stomach (victim rated pain 10/10), threw her phone against a wall breaking it, dragged her back to his room, and punched her several times. Others heard banging and shouting. Victim sustained three fractured ribs, bite mark on cheek, bruises on neck, collarbones and temples, cuts to left arm. Both were distressed when police arrived; she was treated at Southampton General Hospital.
Pleaded guilty. Eight previous convictions for 16 offences, many violent, including 5 months imprisonment in February 2022 for attacking an emergency worker. Spent 64 days in custody prior to sentencing. History of homelessness and epilepsy. Judge noted delay in case progression gave undue mitigation.
Adam Welch
Burglary *

On 9 December 2021, Adam Welch broke into a house on Thomas Road, North Baddesley, by forcing open a window, detaching an immersion tank and stealing copper pipes. He was found hiding nearby with gloves, a screwdriver and head-torch. Forensic evidence linked him to the scene. Separately, on or before 6 September 2021, he burgled the Red Cross charity store in North Baddesley, stealing a charity tin, cash float, watches and jewellery, identified via CCTV and DNA on the window.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary. Sentenced to 9 months for the burglaries and 3 months for breach of a community order.
Andrew Semple
Causing unnecessary suffering to protected animals *

18-month community order with 120 hours unpaid work, banned from owning equines for 5 years, £2,500 costs
Dr Andrew Semple and Samantha Semple-Thomas caused unnecessary suffering to five donkeys (Fire, Sooty, River, Rosie, Ruby) and failed to ensure their needs between January and March 2024 in a field off Hatchet Lane in Beaulieu. RSPCA found donkeys underweight with poor coats, eating mouldy hay, struggling in thick mud, with mud fever and dental ulcers causing painful ulcers. One donkey found dead with missing eye.
From Holbury. Care declined after wife suffered back injury and lost her father; husband took over but fed donkeys once a day with no hay.
Amran Ahmed
Being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug *

On 27 July 2020 at 2.30pm, a hire vehicle was stopped by police on the drive of Ahmed’s address at the time in Winchester Road, Southampton. Ahmed, who was in the vehicle, was searched and his mobile phone seized. A bag of white powder found under a nearby red car tested positive for cocaine worth £3,000. Searches at Ahmed’s home seized £14,000 of luxury items including Moncler jackets, Louboutin shoes, Louis Vuitton belts and bags, gold jewellery and a Rolex watch. Examination of seized mobile phones revealed messages connecting Ahmed to cocaine supply, where he was referred to as ‘Blanco the barber’ and solicited drug reviews. Bank accounts showed large unexplained transactions including £68,492 paid into Ahmed’s account between January 2019 and August 2020.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug and concealing criminal property.
Amy Willard

Willard, who had just got out and was stood next to another red car on the drive, was searched and her mobile phone seized. A bag of white powder found under the red car tested positive for cocaine worth £3,000. Searches at Willard’s home seized £14,000 of luxury items including Moncler jackets, Louboutin shoes, Louis Vuitton belts and bags, gold jewellery and a Rolex watch. Examination of seized mobile phones revealed messages in connection with cocaine supply. Bank accounts showed large transactions including Willard sending Ahmed £41,649 between 13 September 2019 and 20 November 2020. Willard had no declared income.
Pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug and transferring criminal property.
Bayleigh Howden
Inflicting grievous bodily harm *

18 months imprisonment
On 31st October 2023, Bayleigh Howden (27), of Tristan Close, Calshot, followed an 89-year-old pensioner for a mile after the victim pulled out in front of him following collection of his car from a repair garage. Howden drove erratically behind him for five minutes, then approached the victim on his driveway, shouted at him, and pushed him with open palms with such force that he fell, breaking his femur. The victim required surgery, three weeks in hospital, and suffered lasting physical limitations (e.g. unable to garden, walk long distances, play golf) and mental health impacts including anxiety about leaving home.
Pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to inflicting grievous bodily harm. Of previous good character with autism diagnosis. Remorseful, employed as a chef. Judge took into account autism, remorse and employment but deemed offence too serious for suspended sentence.
Benjamin Evetts
Assault occasioning actual bodily harm *

In the afternoon of 15 June this year, Evetts turned up at his ex-partner’s flat. When she opened the door, he pushed her over and kneeled over her, putting his thumb to her windpipe causing her to struggle to breathe. He then snatched her phone out of her hand so she could not call the police. Evetts left for around 45 minutes and when he came back, he caused criminal damage to her address and gained entry again. He grabbed her by the throat and pushed her to the floor once more, using her hair to bang her head into the wall while spitting at her. Police attended the incident after receiving a call from a neighbour and arrested Evetts near the scene.
Pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage to property valued under £5000.
Callum Knox
Burglary other than in a dwelling *

3 years and 10 months imprisonment
Callum Knox was part of a group that travelled from Southampton to Basingstoke in stolen vehicles on cloned number plates, before cycling into Festival Place shopping centre. Members used sledgehammers to smash the windows of the Beaverbrooks jewellery store on Monday 24 February last year, stealing £247,000 worth of high value watches.
Admitted burglary other than in a dwelling. From Woodside Road, Eastleigh, aged 35. Identified via forensic evidence.
