Darren Harkins, of High Street, Glyn Ceiriog, Llangollen, Denbighshire, engaged in online conversations from July 2020 with an undercover police officer posing as a mother offering her nine-year-old daughter for sex. He expressed interest in 'genuine family fun', stated age was 'just a number', claimed to be turned on by incest, sent over a dozen videos of himself performing sex acts and referencing the child, and arranged to meet at a hotel in Gloucester. Police executed a warrant at his home in October 2020 and found the phone used.
Defence claimed deep shame and sex addiction rather than desire to abuse children. Judge unconvinced he was not a danger to children. Online activity to be monitored for life. Banned from unsupervised contact with children under 16 without parental and social services awareness.

The exploitation was orchestrated by Frederick Lawlor, who controlled the teenager and arranged encounters through advertisements. Craven admitted to sexual activity with a child. The judge stated that the defendants treated the girl as a sexual object without consideration for her well-being. The investigation revealed the girl had been involved with approximately 50 men.

Edward Bernard Collins, a 46-year-old from Rhyl, north Wales, groomed and sexually abused an 18-month-old toddler and took indecent photographs of her and another young girl. He had previously been jailed in 1999 for child pornography offences. After befriending a woman and her partner, he took their children to McDonald's and then to his flat, where he photographed them jumping on his bed without underwear and assaulted the younger child. Police found 47 explicit photographs of the two girls and 360 downloaded child pornography images on his devices. He admitted 15 charges in total.
Pleaded guilty to 15 charges including sexual touching of a child, taking indecent photographs, and downloading child pornography. Previous child pornography convictions in 1999. Judge Dafydd Hughes stated Collins posed a significant risk to young girls and imposed the indefinite sentence to protect the public.

Gavin Bird, 34, of St Giles Crescent, Caia Park, Wrexham, was part of a county lines network dealing drugs in Caia Park. A mobile phone linked to him advertised heroin and crack cocaine between December 2025 and February 2026. On February 19, 2026, police searched his home but he fled in an Audi A3, driving at speed directly at a police officer’s vehicle, forcing her to swerve onto the kerb. The car was abandoned, and Bird was found hiding under another vehicle. Two phones and cannabis were recovered from the Audi.
Pleaded guilty to supplying heroin and cocaine, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and without insurance, and possession of cannabis. Eight previous convictions including burglary and driving offences. Judge Rhys Rowlands noted he drove straight at the police car. Extended 28-month driving ban, forfeiture and destruction of phone, and surcharge ordered. Medium risk of reoffending.

Gerrard Stephen Jones, 53, of Brighton Road, Rhyl, North Wales, targeted two teenage girls. He engaged in sexual activity by fondling one over her clothing and another under her clothing. He secretly set up a video camera to film a girl changing clothes; she noticed a red recording light and reported it. Examination of his computer revealed over 1,500 indecent images of children and over 80 movies, many extreme and involving bestiality. He initially denied some behaviours but eventually pleaded guilty. He had lost his family and job and had no prior convictions. Judge Niclas Parry imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order restricting contact with females under 16 and internet usage.

Iris Way

Iris Way, 61, and her husband Derek, 64, from Abergele, were convicted at Mold Crown Court for sexually abusing a boy and girl over 2½ years starting in the early 1980s when the victims were 11 and 13. Iris was found guilty of nine charges: two counts of indecently assaulting the boy, one of attempted buggery, two of inciting the boy to have sex with the girl, and four of indecent assault on the girl. She actively participated by holding down the boy as Derek attempted to have sex with him, engaging in sex acts with both children, and helping groom the girl for exploitation at alcohol-fuelled sex parties. The abuse began when the couple took the boy into their bed and Iris had sex with him. The couple forced the boy to have sex with the girl. Iris was sentenced to 10 years in prison, placed on the sex offenders register for life, and given a sexual offences prevention order.
Found guilty of nine charges including indecent assault, attempted buggery, and inciting a boy to have sex with a girl. Judge John Rogers QC described the abuse as 'serial sexual assault for depraved pleasure'. Defence argued she was subordinate to husband. Shouts of 'scum' from public gallery as sentence passed.

Claimed he thought they were over 16. Arrested after police found messages on his laptop.
Admitted two incitement charges. Described by Judge Rhys Rowland as 'small in stature and emotionally inadequate' and likely to have a 'very hard time' in prison. Given rehabilitation order with three-month curfew (9pm-7am), 10-year sexual harm prevention order, and placed on Sex Offenders' Register. Harassment charge dropped. Has learning difficulties.

Three more victims came forward post-arrest.
