Godfrey put his arm around one woman's neck and dragged her to the floor. Forensic evidence from the vehicle identified him. Godfrey, 30, from Romford, Greater London.

He stole cash and a games console. The victims had left for church at 9:30am and returned three hours later to discover the burglary. DNA from the blood stain identified Clarke as the burglar. He pleaded guilty to burglary at Maidstone Crown Court on July 12 and was sentenced to 28 months imprisonment. The court heard he had no fixed address.
Pleaded guilty. Injured hand during break-in, leaving blood stain that provided DNA evidence. Had no fixed address. Caused damage to property. Detective Constable Richard Sears remarked on the intrusion and distress caused.
Joseph Crabbe

Joseph Crabbe and an accomplice broke into a property in Cliffe, Medway, at around 10.45pm on 19 July 2021. They were disturbed by the victim, whom they assaulted repeatedly with a snooker cue, stabbed his head with a screwdriver, held a knife to his neck, and bound his limbs with flex. They stole a watch, wallet, and obtained PIN numbers for bank cards after threatening the victim's dog. Crabbe's DNA was found on a hammer left at the scene, and the getaway car was traced via ANPR. He was arrested on 2 February 2022.
Pleaded guilty to robbery and being unlawfully at large (breaching licence conditions from previous conviction). Will serve at least two thirds before parole, followed by 3 years on licence.

Joseph Hoadley and Grant Searle stole an ATM from Northfleet Food and Wine on High Street using a Ford Transit van to ram raid the shop front on 28 November 2019, causing £11,000 damage. Hoadley entered the premises and attached a cord to the ATM which was pulled free. They also robbed staff at a Co-op in Talbot Lane, Ebbsfleet on 8 December 2019 using threats and a hammer to access the safe. Additionally, they committed burglaries targeting homes in Gravesend, Dartford and Meopham between 25 November and 4 December 2019, stealing vehicles, a car, an air rifle and a luxury watch.

On 1 May 2017 in Wildernesse Avenue, Sevenoaks, a gang including Meizen used a Skoda Octavia fitted with police markings and blue lights to approach a home. One man posed as a police officer to gain entry, then four masked offenders, one with a sawn-off shotgun, forced their way in after cutting a hole in a fence. The victim was pushed to the floor and threatened, while a relative locked herself in a cupboard and triggered an alarm. The gang fled empty-handed. The fake police car was later set on fire in Nottingham. Meizen was identified as one of the main offenders.

Joseph Mooney, 44, from Enfield, London, falsely advertised himself as a professional masseur using a Facebook platform to target women in Medway and Swale, offering discounts under the guise of being a newly qualified masseur. He attended addresses of their choice, started massages, and then sexually assaulted the victims. Some victims were shown his false qualifications and noted he appeared sexually aroused during the treatments. Further victims were identified during the investigation into his bogus business.

On 2 May 2018 at about 4pm, Joseph Socrates was driving along the B255 in Greenhithe when officers suspected something and ordered him to pull over near the slip road to the London-bound A2 at Wilmington. A search under the Misuse of Drugs Act revealed cash and seven small bags of cannabis concealed in the car's fuse box. After he was taken to the station, a further search uncovered 20 wraps of cocaine hidden under his waistband.
Caught during a routine traffic stop with cocaine and cannabis hidden in a car fuse box and under his waistband. Detective Constable Daniel Bister said he was in Kent with the sole intention of dealing drugs.

Karl Willoughby, 33, was driving a Ford Transit at up to 75mph in a 30mph zone on the A274 Biddenden Road in Headcorn when he lost control on a humpback bridge. The van went airborne and collided with a Skoda Fabia and a Suzuki Grand Vitara travelling in the opposite direction. Two women were injured, one trapped and needing rescue by firefighters. Willoughby was also trapped after the van overturned. He initially gave false details to police, and urine tests found cocaine and cannabis. He admitted he had never held a driving licence or taken a driving test.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving uninsured, and driving without a licence. He had cocaine and cannabis in his system, no driving licence, and provided false details to police. Also banned from driving for nearly five years and must pass an extended test.
Kasey Knowles

Kasey Knowles targeted his vulnerable victim between January 2021 and February 2022, with repeated assaults which included punching and kicking her, relentless verbal abuse, and threats to kill. She had kept photographs of her injuries. He was arrested on 21 February 2022, when the victim called 999 having suffered verbal abuse from Knowles throughout the day, which left her in fear of being assaulted again. When patrols arrived at her address, Knowles fled into the back garden where he was detained, despite a struggle with officers to evade capture.
Pleaded guilty. This included five months’ imprisonment for the activation of a suspended sentence.
Jimmy Price
Conspiracy to burgle *

Frank Matthews, Jimmy Price and Lewis Collins conspired to steal livery valued at around £100,000 at up to eight separate properties between 3 May and 17 May 2020. The gang targeted stables and other rural premises during the hours of darkness in areas including Faversham, Paddock Wood, East Peckham, Mereworth, Blue Bell Hill, Sittingbourne, Kemsing and Maidstone. Forcing open doors and disabling alarms, the men stole equine equipment before making off in vehicles, sometimes across open fields. After a break-in at stables near Bearsted, Maidstone on 17 May, investigators identified the suspects had been using a Vauxhall Zafira. On the following day, a patrol saw the vehicle in Cranbourne Avenue, Maidstone and indicated for the driver to stop. Officers arrested Matthews and his two passengers, Price and Collins.

Kane Dugbo drove a Mercedes near the Princes Road interchange at around 3am on 26 September 2023. Police needed him to stop as the vehicle had been of interest previously. He drove off at twice the speed limit, reaching 80 miles per hour, travelled onto the wrong side of the road, narrowly avoiding other motorists, collided with roadside barriers, and stopped in an overgrown field near Watling Street. He fled on foot but was identified via DNA on the airbag.
Pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. From Strood. Also disqualified from driving for 21 months and required to pass an extended driving test.
Kane Mcleod

On the evening of 10 April 2021, proactive patrols spotted a suspicious Audi A7 on the M25 near the Darenth Interchange. Officers followed the vehicle onto the M20 coastbound, where Kane McLeod accelerated to speeds of 135mph before initially stopping. He then rammed a second patrol car and fled. Following another high-speed pursuit, the Audi was stopped at the top of the M20 Junction 5 slip road near Aylesford. McLeod fled on foot with a black bag into bushes, where he was arrested. Officers recovered a loaded handgun from the bag and a small quantity of cannabis from the vehicle.
Pleaded guilty to all charges. Disqualified from driving for seven years and ten months. 32-year-old from Derby.
Joshua Bragg

Joshua Bragg was part of a criminal gang that broke into seven addresses in Dartford and Gravesend between 1 April and 17 May 2023. The gang forced open front doors in the middle of the night, stealing car keys for high-value BMWs and Mercedes parked outside, along with jewellery, phones and computer tablets. The burglars travelled from Essex to commit the offences.

Joshua Hamilton, of Rankine Road, Tunbridge Wells, subjected a former partner to a series of violent assaults and sustained mental abuse during 2020 and 2021. The abuse included repeatedly beating the victim by punching, kicking and treading on her feet, pulling her hair, striking her with a belt, grabbing her violently around the throat, forcing her to stand in the corner facing a wall, controlling and monitoring her movements, and making repeated threats to kill or harm her. He was arrested in April 2020.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, sending threatening messages, criminal damage, and failing to comply with bail conditions. Made subject of a ten-year restraining order.
Julian Warrick

Between March and June 2020, Julian Warrick conspired with an organised crime group to supply cocaine using the encrypted messaging service EncroChat. He was arrested in Dartford in March 2021, found with £4,000 in cash and three mobile phones including an encrypted handset. A search of a property in Erith recovered more cash, a money counting machine, and approximately 7oz of cocaine valued between £7,000 and £14,000. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine and possession of criminal property.

Justin Burnett

Life imprisonment with minimum term of 19 years
Justin Burnett and Claire Lunn killed Piotr Lacheta, who was living in a tent in Cowgate Cemetery and in a relationship with Lunn. Shouting was heard the night before on 30 September 2019, with witnesses recognising Burnett's voice. Burnett later said he had stamped 'all over' the victim. Lacheta suffered fatal injuries to his head, chest and neck and was dragged around sixty feet from Lunn's tent. His body was found by a dog walker on the morning of 1 October 2019. Both offenders were found at the scene with blood on their clothing and arrested that day.
Convicted of murder after trial at Maidstone Crown Court. Denied murder but witness and forensic evidence proved involvement. No responsibility taken or motive explained.
Justin Duyile

Justin Duyile, 19, from Greenhithe, acted as middleman for the 'MJ' county line drug network in Medway, receiving instructions from Simeon Koroma and passing them to runners Curtis Davies and Natalie Riley. On 21 July 2022, officers found him at Natalie Riley's address in Gillingham with drug paraphernalia, cash, mobile phones, drug 'tick' lists, weighing scales and clingfilm after stopping Davies nearby.
Admitted charges of being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine. Acted as middleman for the 'MJ' county line drug network.

On 25 July 2023, plain clothes constables patrolling Harmony Street, Rusthall, near Tunbridge Wells, spotted Justin Kola sitting alone in a Nissan parked in a remote area away from homes, shops or dog walking routes. Officers approached on foot; he appeared nervous and claimed to be waiting for his girlfriend but could not recall where she lived. A search seized 23 wraps of cocaine with an estimated street value of £2,000, a mobile phone and around £65 in cash.

Kai Austen, from Tunbridge Wells, was wanted for drugs supply offences after his DNA was matched to packages of cannabis and cocaine seized in Tunbridge Wells. Initially arrested on 14 September 2021 with a phone showing evidence of his criminal network. On 8 December 2021 in Hastings Road, Flimwell, Sussex, he drove a Range Rover at police officers to evade capture, ramming a police vehicle, damaging two others, and almost colliding with a member of the public who had to run to safety.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in the supply of drugs (cocaine and cannabis), four charges of possession with intent to supply drugs, dangerous driving, three counts of assault on emergency workers, three counts of criminal damage, and possessing a knife in a public place.
Kai Haruna

Charlie Saunter, William O’Brien, and Kai Haruna subjected their victim to a prolonged and barbaric assault lasting over six hours in a Gravesend flat on London Road on the evening of 5 July 2020. The victim was repeatedly cut with knives, burned with boiling salt water and a home-made flame thrower, subjected to dog bites and genital mutilation. Haruna jumped on the victim’s chest until he passed out. The attack was linked to a grievance involving money and/or drug supply. The victim could not escape due to threats, duration, and the dog.
Pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Sentences also dealt with two separate cases involving thefts and acts of violence. Must serve at least two thirds before parole and subject to extended licence of four years on release.

Linda Fitzpatrick, 35, of no fixed address, was arrested on 15 March 2021 after being spotted by plain-clothed officers carrying out a drug deal in Great Lines, Gillingham. Following her arrest, she was searched and two bags containing the drugs were located. A mobile phone and £115 cash was also seized.

Linda Harris (also known as Linda Cutts) assisted murderer Billy Dole in fleeing the UK after he killed Peter Beale on 17 September 2018. At her daughter Rachel Woods's request, Harris drove Dole to Stansted Airport. She later attempted to conceal their involvement by searching for CCTV locations linked to the murder scene. Police uncovered the escape plan through financial records and CCTV footage, and Harris eventually admitted her role.

Liam French

On Thursday 29 July 2021, Liam French and Max Cuthbert broke into an address in Collet Walk, Gillingham, and stole car-keys from the victim’s handbag before making off with their car. In the early hours of Friday 30 July, the offenders broke into another property in Hawbeck Road. The victim became alert to the intruders after noticing torch light beams and called out, causing the men to flee. Less than an hour later, they targeted a third property in Howbury Walk, and stole a handbag containing various items, including a bank card, cash, perfumes, and car-keys, which they used to make off with the victim’s car. Arrested at 3.59am after a police pursuit along Long Catlis Road, Rainham, to the Isle of Sheppey, where they drove at 70mph in 30mph zones. One vehicle stopped after a stinger was deployed.
Charged with two counts of conspiracy to burgle, one count of aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop, and driving without insurance. Aged 22 from Chatham.
Loui Curtis

Loui Curtis, 27, from Gillingham, was driving his black BMW 320D on the Londonbound carriageway of the M2 close to junction 5 exit on Monday 3 August 2020 when it collided with the rear of a blue Toyota Yaris at 12:50am. He was speeding at 108mph and had composed and sent a message on his phone just prior to the collision, causing the victim's car to accelerate by 40mph in one tenth of a second. The 34-year-old victim from Rochester died at the scene.
Admitted the charge. Drove at 108mph in a 70mph zone whilst using his mobile phone to compose and send a message.
Louis Betson

In the early hours of 26 November 2017, Louis Betson hailed a taxi from Luton Arches, Gillingham, and asked to be taken to Thornham Road. He was told to pay upfront, claimed to be a regular customer, and left his mobile phone as a deposit. Upon arrival, he refused to pay, demanded his phone back, then pulled the driver from the vehicle and assaulted him by repeatedly punching and kicking him. Betson also smashed the driver's phone and stole cash from his pockets.

Lucian Nicolaie, along with Eduard Nicolaie, Rinaldo Nicolaie and Marian Petre, entered the EE shop in Bligh’s Walk, Sevenoaks, at around 3.55pm on 3 November 2022. The gang concealed their faces with balaclavas, ordered staff to sit and remain silent, kicked open an internal door and ransacked the stock room, stealing phones and tablets valued at almost £30,000. They fled in an Audi A5 getaway car which was intercepted on the M25 near Dartford River Crossing less than an hour later.

Luke Barling received more than £350,000 from 16 separate mostly elderly and retired victims of various frauds, including scams involving fake land purchases, rogue traders, diamond sales, and fake investments in ISAs and savings accounts. He accepted and spent large amounts of cash paid into two bank accounts opened between February and June 2020 during the first Covid-19 lockdown, with sums also transferred to unknown recipients. There was no evidence he was involved in the frauds themselves.

Luke Carney, aged 25, was identified via dashcam footage from a Jaguar stolen from an address in Bexley in the early hours of 4 December 2022. The vehicle was recovered in Swanley less than an hour later using tracking software. The dashcam showed Carney returning to turn off the lights. He was arrested on 14 December 2022 near his home in Swanley, where searches uncovered cannabis, cash, slingshots, ball-bearings, and a car key linked to a Range Rover stolen days earlier from outside Swanley train station.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of theft of a motor vehicle and possessing cannabis with intent to supply. £360 cash seized from his address was ordered by the court to go to a local charity.

Luke French snuck onto Medway Maritime Hospital grounds around 10pm on 5 September 2018 and deliberately set two fires dangerously close to oxygen tanks and mobile MRI scanners, less than a metre from lorries housing the equipment. He ignited rubbish in an outdoor cage and a wheelie bin. Hospital staff extinguished the flames before serious damage occurred. French was arrested shortly after by Kent Police and later pleaded guilty to recklessly endangering life by arson.

Luke Gilleeney, from Gravesend, was arrested in December 2014 when his fingerprints were found on a false registration plate attached to a stolen Range Rover located close to his home address in Grange Road. Days later, Kent Police located another stolen Range Rover advertised for sale, along with a stolen Audi Q3 and another vehicle registered to a family member, all near his home. The combined value of the three stolen vehicles was around £111,000. Gilleeney admitted in interview that he had taken possession of the vehicles on behalf of unnamed associates and was attempting to sell them. Charged in January 2015, he was released on bail but fled to Marbella in Spain. He returned to the UK and was re-arrested at a new address in Meopham in December 2021.

Luke Samuel, 40, from Gravesend, lured the victim, a man he knew, to an alleyway near Grange Road in the early hours of Friday 27 January 2023, knowing Tyler Lucock and a 16-year-old boy were waiting to assault him. Samuel walked away from the scene while the assault was unfolding.
Pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm without intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place (separate incident). Played a key role in luring the victim to the location knowing the intentions of Lucock.
Marcus Towner

Marcus Towner, 30, from West Malling, conducted a campaign of harassment against a woman, including physical assaults, threats to harm her and her family, and controlling behaviour that forced her to change jobs and appearance. He repeatedly appeared at her address and left a phone to abuse and threaten her. Separately, on 6 April 2021, police found 12 bags of cocaine worth £17,000 and 47 bags of cannabis worth £13,000 during a search in Ryarsh, West Malling.
Pleaded guilty to stalking involving fear of violence and two counts of possessing drugs with intent to supply. A charge of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour was ordered to lie on file. Subject to a five-year restraining order upon release.
Maria Toole

Greg Toole and Maria Toole attacked a 60-year-old woman during an engagement party at a Holborough Road venue on 18 January 2017. After the victim got into a taxi, Maria Toole chased her, dragged her to the ground, punched her repeatedly, and pulled her by the hair. Greg Toole joined in, kicking and stamping on her chest while she lay helpless. The victim suffered a fractured sternum, neck and spine injuries. The Tooles were arrested two days later and charged with grievous bodily harm.
Pleaded not guilty. Convicted by jury. Sentenced alongside Greg Toole. Detective Constable described attack as 'truly brutal, so savage and sustained that the victim feared for her life'.
Marian Ghita
conspiracy to commit burglary *

On 29 May 2023, Marian Ghita travelled to Maidstone with three accomplices, intent on targeting a shop in Fremlin Walk. At around midnight, three of the gang forced open the main door and stole mobile phones and tablets worth more than £11,000 from display cabinets at the front of the store. Investigators identified vehicles used, including an Audi connected to Ghita parked outside his home in east London. Ghita was arrested on 14 June.

Marian Petre, along with Lucian Nicolaie, Eduard Nicolaie and Rinaldo Nicolaie, entered the EE shop in Bligh’s Walk, Sevenoaks, at around 3.55pm on 3 November 2022. The gang concealed their faces with balaclavas, ordered staff to sit and remain silent, kicked open an internal door and ransacked the stock room, stealing phones and tablets valued at almost £30,000. They fled in an Audi A5 getaway car which was intercepted on the M25 near Dartford River Crossing less than an hour later.
Pleaded guilty to robbery. Aged 23, from East Ham, London. Ordered to complete 100 hours unpaid work within a year.
Maricel Stanescu

Maricel Stanescu and Ciprian Mihai carried out a distraction theft spree targeting over 30 businesses across Kent, Sussex, and Surrey between 16 and 26 April 2019. They entered shops, salons, and surgeries, with one distracting staff by speaking a foreign language and brandishing a leaflet while the other stole mobile phones. Police tracked a Volkswagen Passat linked to up to 35 thefts and arrested both men as they drove into Tunbridge Wells on 26 April. They pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle at Maidstone Crown Court. Detective Constable Tony Hatcher indicated they were part of a wider organised crime network.

Mario Nicolae was caught running a brothel at a property in Downs Avenue, Dartford after neighbours reported numerous men visiting at all hours. He rented the property and managed the brothel, taking half the earnings from sex workers. He initially denied this, claiming he provided massage services, but police found paperwork showing he regularly transferred thousands of pounds to a Gibraltar bank account. He was convicted of managing a brothel, inciting prostitution, and money laundering.

Luke Slater

On 15 October 2022, Luke Slater approached three girls in a wooded area near Ethelbert Road, Rochester, asked the time, pulled a knife when one got her phone out, threatened them, stole phones from two and chased the third, stealing her phone, cash and ring. Arrested 16 November 2022 in Dagenham. Also committed six shop thefts in City Way, Delce Road and High Street between 5 and 21 October.
Pleaded guilty to six counts of theft from shops. Convicted after trial of three robberies and threats with an offensive weapon. Judge found him dangerous, with propensity to violence and substance misuse.
Malcolm Shipley

On 25 September 2016, Shipley stole almost £620 from a safe at a charity shop on Rochester High Street, leaving pliers that were forensically linked to him. On 26 November 2016, he returned to the same shop, menaced a staff member with a kitchen knife, forced her to open the safe, and escaped with over £600. His thumbprint was found on the knife block. He had earlier pressured the employee to stage the first burglary.
Pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court. Forced a female employee to stage a first break-in, then threatened her with a kitchen knife in a second robbery at the same charity shop.
Mahei Ahmad

During the evening of 4 February 2021, David Akande along with Mahei Ahmad, Mohammed Maow and Thami Ngqobongwana travelled to an address near Shorts Way, Borstal with a number of other unidentified men. Once there, the group forcibly entered a house and one of them punched a man inside whilst demanding money. After the victim surrendered his wallet, his mother was also threatened before the gang left the premises. The police were alerted and officers established that some of the offenders had been using a Smart Car. The vehicle was stopped by a patrol on the A2 near Bean just over an hour later. The driver, Ahmad, and his passenger, Maow, were arrested. When the vehicle was searched the victim’s bank cards were recovered from under one of the seats along with a quantity of cannabis.
Pleaded not guilty and convicted after a trial. Also had his driving licence endorsed with eight points. From Aldersbrook, Greater London. Charged with possession of a class B drug, driving a vehicle without a licence and no insurance.
Malcolm Coles
Rape and indecent assault *

Malcolm Coles, 68, was convicted of raping and repeatedly sexually abusing a young girl over a period of time more than 25 years ago in Sittingbourne. The victim came forward in 2015, and Coles was arrested and tried at Maidstone Crown Court. He was found guilty of one count of rape, four counts of indecent assault, and one count of indecency with a child, but acquitted on other charges. The abuse included molesting the girl and raping her while under the influence of alcohol. The victim suffered lasting psychological harm, including PTSD, panic attacks, flashbacks, and low self-esteem.
Denied charges; jury convicted. Judge Martin Joy described the defence as 'ludicrous'. Victim reported abuse more than 25 years after it occurred. Coles will be on the sex offenders' register for life.
