On the evening of 26 February 2022, in Chatham High Street, Ghandi Mallak and others approached a man in his 20s at a cash machine, threatened him with a knife, pushed him against the ATM, searched his pockets, and stole his phone and bank cards. Mallak assaulted a member of the public who intervened, causing grazing and bruises to the face. Officers arrested Mallak nearby, finding 17 wraps of class A drugs in his sock.
Pleaded guilty to robbery, possession of cocaine with intent to supply, possession of heroin with intent to supply, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Sentence included terms for being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine in Sussex in September 2021.
Gheorghe Ciobotaru

Gheorghe Ciobotaru, along with accomplices Gabriel Zaharia and Valentin Ciobotaru, targeted jewellery at addresses in north and west Kent and Essex. On 5 February 2022, they travelled to Sevenoaks in a silver Mercedes, forced a window open at a house in Hillydeal Road, and targeted further addresses in Shoreham Lane Sevenoaks, Leyton Cross Road Dartford, and Summerhouse Drive Bexley. They ransacked the premises and stole jewellery. They were also responsible for two burglaries in Loughton, Essex on 4 February 2022. Arrested on 9 February 2022 in the Mercedes in Ilford, Greater London.
Pleaded guilty to six burglaries. The judge ordered that the car used by the criminals should be sold to compensate victims.
Glen Heaton

During the early evening of 26 October 2020, a 69-year-old man was walking over a pedestrian crossing on Main Road, Chattenden, when he was struck by a Peugeot 208 GTI driven by Glen Heaton, who had been travelling towards Hoo. The vehicle came to a halt almost 100 metres past the crossing. The Peugeot had been travelling in excess of the speed limit. Emergency services attended and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Heaton, from Hoo, was arrested and blood analysis confirmed cannabis levels above the legal limit.
Pleaded guilty. Cannabis levels above legal limit. Disqualified from driving for six years on release and must take an extended driving test. Second count of causing death without due care and attention while over the drug limit ordered to lie on file.
Glyn Taylor

Glyn Taylor was part of a criminal gang with brothers Aaron and Gray Elcombe supplying cocaine with a street value of more than £5 million via the EncroChat encrypted messaging service. The gang's activities were uncovered after decryption of EncroChat messages in spring 2020, leading to an investigation by Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate. Arrested on 29 September 2021.

Gordon Burgess, a former bus driver of Thorn Hill Road, Warden, Sheerness, Kent, ME12, raped a teenager twice without using any protection. The victim reported the abuse to Childline after feeling trapped. She gave evidence via TV link, demonstrating extraordinary fortitude as praised by the judge.
Denied two offences of rape and three of sexual activity with a child but convicted by jury. Judge noted seriousness self-evident, aggravating feature of no protection used, limited mitigation due to poor health and family man. Graeme Mulock targeted and assaulted a young child on three occasions between 1 December 2016 and 25 December 2018 in the Rochester area. He was charged with four sexual offences including two counts of sexual assault of a child.

On the afternoon of 9 April 2018, officers noticed a Ford Fiesta linked to drug dealing in James Street. The vehicle was found in a car park. Sheekh returned with Clinton Osuji and they were searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Police Dog Piper found 15 wraps of crack cocaine next to where Sheekh had been sitting. Further searches found 12 wraps of heroin and one wrap of crack cocaine on Sheekh. Analysis of a seized phone and DNA evidence confirmed involvement in supplying class A drugs.
Found guilty of possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.
Haxhi Krruci
Possession with intent to supply Class A drugs *

A 23-year-old London drug dealer, Haxhi Krruci, was caught trying to supply Class A drugs in Tonbridge. On 16 October 2019, police on Quarry Hill spotted a suspicious vehicle and signalled it to stop. Krruci ignored the order, sped away, and threw a cigarette box from the moving car during the chase. Officers recovered 18 wraps of cocaine from the discarded box and later seized five mobile phones from the vehicle. Krruci was arrested after pulling over at junction 5 of the A21.
Pleaded guilty. Also charged with driving without insurance.
Harvey Smalling
Grievous bodily harm with intent *

Harvey Smalling, from Orpington, Greater London, assaulted an off-duty police officer following an altercation at a fast-food restaurant in Commercial Road, Strood, in the early hours of 18 July 2022. The victim and a friend had politely asked if an uncollected order was his, to which Smalling reacted aggressively. They left to avoid confrontation, but Smalling followed, threatened them, and stabbed the victim in the chest with an item from his bag. The victim suffered a serious chest wound, was hospitalised, but has made a full recovery. Smalling fled the scene and was arrested on 20 July 2022.
Pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and affray.
Harrison Langford
Grooming and sexual activity with a child *

Harrison Langford began using online chat applications to groom a 13-year-old girl on 19 August 2022. His messages became sexual and he encouraged her to share explicit images. On 3 September, he travelled from Milton Keynes to Kent, picked her up in his BMW, and sexually abused her in the car, repeating the acts the next day. On 10 September, he returned to Maidstone, booked a hotel room, picked up the victim, took her there, and repeatedly abused her. He was arrested at the hotel after the girl reported to Kent Police.
Pleaded guilty to four offences, including grooming and sexual activity with a child.
Harry Darke

Between 26 March and 6 June 2020, Harry Darke ran a criminal business with Robert Shearmur using an encrypted mobile phone under pseudonyms ‘Basilowl’ and ‘Lizardfoot’. They purchased multiple kilos of cocaine and ketamine which they sold to other dealers, trading around 20 kilos of cocaine and four kilos of ketamine over a 52-day period for considerable profit. Messages suggested plans to use gains for property development. Data from infiltrated secure communication passed to National Crime Agency.
Pleaded guilty. Aged 27. Detained on 15 November 2021. Joint bank account with Robert Shearmur containing £140,000 in 2021.
Harry Garratty

On 24 July 2021, Harry Garratty broke into a house in Carlton Avenue, Chatham, and conducted an untidy search whilst looking for items to steal. The resident returned home and met him as he was walking down the stairs holding a crowbar. He threatened the victim and she handed over her handbag and car keys. Garratty warned her not to call the police as he left the premises and got into her vehicle. The victim followed him and asked him not to take the car as she needed to collect her child. Garratty then took a quantity of cash from her purse, got out of her car and drove away in another vehicle that had been parked nearby. A fingerprint was found at the scene and the car he used was registered in his name. He was arrested on 27 July.
Pleaded guilty to robbery, theft of a car and theft of a quantity of cash.

A search warrant was executed at an address in Holmewood Road on 9 February 2021. Police seized 36 cannabis plants, quantities of herbal cannabis, digital scales, knives and imitation firearms. Stones was arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences and charged on 9 December 2022 with two counts of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs and cultivating cannabis.

Grant Jeffery
Coercive and controlling behaviour *

Grant Jeffery from Tonbridge took complete control over his partner's life over a number of years, bullying her, dictating what she could wear (demanding loose clothing), isolating her from friends and family, keeping curtains and blinds shut, and using threats and intimidation. The victim lost weight and was admitted to hospital in September 2023. While she was undergoing treatment, Jeffery visited, called her repeatedly, and kept her phone on video call to monitor her. He also assaulted her at the hospital. On 21 September, Kent Police arrested him at a bus stop outside the hospital.
Pleaded guilty to coercive and controlling behaviour. Subject to a 10-year restraining order.
Grant Searle
Conspiring to burgle a business, conspiring to burgle homes and robbery *

Grant Searle and Joseph Hoadley stole an ATM from Northfleet Food and Wine on High Street using a Ford Transit van to ram raid the shop front on 28 November 2019, causing £11,000 damage. Searle drove the van away after Hoadley pulled the ATM free. They also robbed staff at a Co-op in Talbot Lane, Ebbsfleet on 8 December 2019 using threats and a hammer to access the safe. Additionally, they committed burglaries targeting homes in Gravesend, Dartford and Meopham between 25 November and 4 December 2019, stealing vehicles, a car, an air rifle and a luxury watch.
Admitted conspiring to burgle a business, conspiring to burgle homes and robbery. Also sentenced for two counts of fraud, handling stolen goods, possessing ammunition when prohibited and possessing articles for use in fraud committed outside Kent. Aged 29, of no fixed address.
Gray Elcombe

Brothers Aaron and Gray Elcombe were part of a criminal gang supplying cocaine with a street value of more than £5 million via the EncroChat encrypted messaging service, using handles Tasteful Revolver, Urban Bonsai and Striking Boat. They arranged to buy and sell at least 60 kilograms of the Class A drug almost daily throughout most of 2020. Arrested on 29 September 2021 following decryption of EncroChat messages by law enforcement and investigation by Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
Admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession of criminal property (£5,000 cash seized). Age 54, previously from Kings Hill. Pleaded guilty. Committed offences whilst on licence from previous drugs supply offences.
Greg Toole
Grievous Bodily Harm *

Greg Toole and Maria Toole attacked a 60-year-old woman during an engagement party at a Holborough Road venue on 18 January 2017. After the victim got into a taxi, Maria Toole chased her, dragged her to the ground, punched her repeatedly, and pulled her by the hair. Greg Toole joined in, kicking and stamping on her chest while she lay helpless. The victim suffered a fractured sternum, neck and spine injuries. The Tooles were arrested two days later and charged with grievous bodily harm.
Pleaded not guilty. Convicted by jury. Sentenced alongside Maria Toole. Detective Constable described attack as 'truly brutal, so savage and sustained that the victim feared for her life'.
Hamdi Braiek
Causing grievous bodily harm with intent *

Hamdi Braiek, aged 34, assaulted a man in his 30s in Brenchley Gardens, Maidstone, on the evening of 30 May 2021, following a dispute in Week Street over offensive remarks Braiek made about a woman's dress. Braiek pursued the victim into the park, tackled him to the ground, punched him, placed him in a choke hold, and repeatedly stamped on his head while he was unconscious, causing critical head injuries including brain bleeds. The victim was rushed to a London hospital and placed in an induced coma. Braiek was arrested on 2 June 2021 after identification by a PCSO and linked to three further assaults in Maidstone.
Found not guilty of attempted murder but convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, which he had previously admitted. Pleaded guilty to two counts of battery. Will have to serve at least two thirds of the sentence before parole.
Hanchard
Possession of cocaine with intent to supply *

On 20th October 2023, plain clothes police in Luton Road, Chatham, saw Hanchard, suspected of drug supply, getting into a taxi. Officers removed him from the vehicle and seized a 25 centimetres long sheathed knife from his waistband, three packages from his trousers containing more than 200 wraps of cocaine and heroin, and £630 cash from his pockets.
Pleaded guilty to all four indictments. The seized cash was also forfeited. Aged 22, formerly of Orpington, Greater London.
Ian Baggs
Fraud by false representation *

Ian Baggs posed as a council worker in order to steal thousands of pounds from elderly and vulnerable people living in the Sevenoaks area of West Kent. The scam involved charging victims for bogus work to drains at their properties. Victims were contacted by telephone or at their doorsteps with claims the local council needed to send contractors for urgent repairs or to remove blockages. Between 13 and 16 January 2020, victims aged in their 80s and 90s were duped into handing over bank cards, which Baggs processed through a chip and pin machine in a van. One woman was tricked into writing cheques for almost £10,000. Cheques were cashed into his own bank account. CCTV images showed him using victims’ bank cards at shops and cash machines and phone records linked his mobile device to calls made to their homes.
Pleaded guilty to five counts of fraud by false representation. A further 19 offences, mainly in areas of Sussex and Surrey and carried out over January and February 2020, were taken into consideration.
Ian Bigg
Possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and cannabis *

On 20 March 2019, Kent Police executed a search warrant at an address on Wallis Avenue, Maidstone. They found 39-year-old Ian Bigg sitting on his sofa with a samurai sword by his side. In front of him were 27 small bags of crack cocaine, a single bag of crack, and a quantity of herbal cannabis, with a total street value of around £520. Police also seized electronic scales, mobile phones, cash and the sword. Bigg was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply.
Pleaded guilty. DC Billie-Louise Keane said: 'Bigg intended to deal Class A and B drugs to local people and in doing so cause misery within the local community. He should be ashamed of his conduct and a prison sentence will ensure the most vulnerable are protected from his criminality.'

Part of a conspiracy to produce and supply cannabis on a large scale, estimated value over £1 million, operating farms in Ashford, Canvey Island and Hertfordshire between August 2019 and August 2020. Continued supplying cocaine after being charged and bailed. On 3 October 2022, police executed a search warrant at an address in Rainham Road, Gillingham, arresting Okoh and seizing seven wraps of cocaine. A second search at a property in Balmoral Road seized further cocaine, herbal cannabis, digital scales, and over £3,500 cash. Pleaded guilty at Medway Magistrates’ Court but granted conditional bail. On 19 October 2022, stopped driving a car in Gillingham town centre; quantities of cannabis and cocaine recovered.

Imaan Farjani
Supplying Class A drugs *

On 29 October 2019, Imaan, aged 23, was driving a Range Rover in Pagitt Street, Gillingham, when police suspected a drug deal. After chase, he and passenger Younis Farjani were searched. Found cocaine wrap under passenger footwell, £465 cash and phones with buyers calling for heroin and cocaine. Home on Rushdean Road, Strood searched: £1,600 cash, phones, SIMs, drug price list and packing items. Text messages showed brothers supplying drugs.
Pleaded guilty. Involved in coordinating drug deals supplying heroin and cocaine across Gillingham.
Ian Oldham
Conspiracy to import amphetamine sulphate *

Ian Oldham was part of a gang that imported drugs and counterfeit cigarettes into the UK from the continent. The gang operated between October 2011 and April 2013. Oldham was arrested following an investigation by the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU). He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import amphetamine sulphate and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court.

Members of an organised crime group attempted to import 1.2 tonnes of cocaine hidden in a banana shipment from Costa Rica at Sheerness Port in Kent on 20 December 2021. Woodward was trained to use a forklift truck to access the container and was arrested by NCA and Kent Police officers.

Ionel Stoian broke into John Lewis stores in Tunbridge Wells on 15 September 2020, stealing around 100 items worth almost £50,000, and in Ashford on 24 October 2020, stealing electrical goods worth at least £25,000 after cutting a hole in a window. A black Ford Focus insured to Stoian was seen near both stores and linked via forensics including his blood on a laptop lead from the Ashford scene.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary. Part of a criminal gang responsible for the theft of electrical goods worth over £75,000 from John Lewis stores.
Ken Clark
Rape *

20 years' imprisonment with 1 year extended licence
Ken Clark, formerly of Chapman Avenue, Maidstone, preyed on children as young as three over a three-year campaign of rape and other sex offences. He silenced victims with a 'pinky promise' and possessed indecent images. Victims suffered nightmares, panic attacks, suicidal thoughts and long-term psychological damage; one was particularly vulnerable due to a medical condition. The attacks ended when a victim spoke out; Clark denied the offences but was convicted by jury.
Found guilty of 18 child sex offences, including rape, and possessing indecent images. Judge ruled he still poses a danger to children.
Kenado Boja Boja
Possessing cocaine with intent to supply *

In February 2024, local officers stopped a Ford Fiesta driven by Kenado Boja Boja in Calverley Street, Tunbridge Wells, suspecting it was involved in drug trafficking. He was found to be in possession of a significant amount of cocaine, including deals hidden in a vape and a safe at his temporary address in Tunbridge Wells. He attempted to deceive police by providing a false name and claiming to be Greek.
Pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply and possession of an identity document with intent. Ordered to forfeit the seized drugs, cash, and vehicle.
Kenneth Clark

Kenneth Clark targeted victims as young as three years old during repeated and systematic offending between 2016 and 2019. He made ‘pinky promises’ with at least two children to keep the abuse secret. Arrested in January 2019 after one victim confided in a relative. The judge noted the abuse had taken away the victims' childhoods, caused nightmares, depression, impacted education, friendships and physical contact, and damaged family relationships.
Convicted after trial of 18 counts including rape, attempted rape, assault by penetration, causing or enticing a child to engage in sexual activity and making indecent images of children. Additional licence period of one year. Subject to indefinite sexual harm prevention order and sex offenders register.
Kenneth Roberts

At 4am on 3 July 2021, a young man in his late teens was in Lower Stone Street, Maidstone, when he was approached by Paul Ojo, Quinton Nelson and Kenneth Roberts. Roberts threatened the victim with a security stand. His fingerprints were found on the stand.

On 13 June 2018, Martin was a passenger in a car driven by Courtney Graham. Undercover police stopped the car on Mote Road, Maidstone. When approached, Martin reached into his hoodie pocket. He was found with 41 wraps of crack cocaine worth between £820 and £1,230. His mobile phone contained texts linked to drug dealing. He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply.

Kesshai Clarke

Kesshai Clarke, 21, of Hillcrest Road, Bromley, would transport crack cocaine and heroin from London to Ashford for the 'Tony' county line network. Officers obtained text messages offering heroin and cocaine to drug users in Ashford between July and September 2021, leading to a warrant at a property in Bromley on 13 October 2021. Clarke was found climbing out of a window and a search uncovered around £11,000 worth of cocaine and heroin, numerous phones and sim cards and electronic scales. He was charged with possessing the drugs with intent to supply.
Sentence included a term for similar offences committed in Winchester.
Keir Jackson
Burglary *

Between 2 and 5 August 2020, Keir Jackson went to a commercial premises in Abbey Fields and broke in by forcing open some doors. Whilst there, he stole a quantity of tools valued at around £12,000. The owners discovered the burglary and alerted the police. Crime Scene Investigators attended and recovered Jackson’s fingerprint from a barrel he had moved at the property. Jackson was arrested on 17 September and later charged with the burglary.

Keith Cranley, 42, of Shipwrights Avenue, Chatham, provided transport for violent house raid in Coxheath near Maidstone two days before Christmas. Five masked intruders including machete and crowbar attacked brothers Dean and Ben Sharp, who fought back. Baby and partner present. Stole 2-3kg cannabis and Tissot watch.
Convicted of aggravated burglary after trial. Provided transport.
Keith Harrison
Assault on police officers *

On 24 April 2018, police responded to a disturbance at James Road, Cuxton, where Keith Harrison, 34, of Charles Drive, was found acting erratically after using cocaine. During questioning, an unrelated assault allegation led to his arrest. While being taken to hospital, Harrison became violent, forcing police to pull over on the M2 motorway. He kicked an officer repeatedly in the vehicle, forced open the passenger door with his foot, and when an officer tried to shut it, kicked again, nearly pushing her into traffic. Outside the van, he bit and kicked officers in the face, causing injuries including a dislocated thumb, fractured wrist, and serious bruising.
Pleaded guilty to one count of actual bodily harm and three counts of assault. Attack was drug-fuelled.

While employed as a prison officer at HMP Maidstone, Trevor engaged in a sexual relationship with a prisoner, which resulted in her having a child with him. She used an alias to maintain contact with the prisoner while not on duty and was sharing information with his family abroad. Trevor was also aware that the prisoner was in possession of an illegal mobile phone and contacted him on it, rather than reporting it to prison security. The offences took place between 21 February 2020 and 25 September 2021.

Kayleigh Halliday

Life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years and three months
Shane Myles and Kayleigh Halliday murdered 66-year-old Paul Wakefield in his Folkestone home on Sunday 2 January 2022. They severely beat the victim and stabbed him with a broken bottle. Mr Wakefield was found with serious injuries at 8.50pm and died the following day in hospital. Myles had the victim's bank card on him and traces of the victim's blood were found on both suspects' shoes. CCTV and the discarded phone helped track their route.
Admitted murder part-way through the trial. Formerly of Crown Road, Sittingbourne. Aged 36.

Kathleen Perry gained access to the bank card of 91-year-old Queenie Watts, who had Alzheimer's disease, by visiting her home in Maidstone on 15 November and snatching the card. She and her daughter Siobhan then used the card over several days to make fraudulent cash withdrawals and purchases totalling £2,303, including cigarettes, vapes, trainers, a Samsung phone, and money from a Tesco cashpoint. The victim's family described how the experience left Miss Watts frightened to answer her door and distrustful of carers, ultimately forcing her to leave the home where she had lived for 20 years.
Pleaded guilty to burglary, 15 counts of fraud by false representation and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order. Had recently been released from prison and was addicted to heroin. Recorder Clive Broe described the offending as 'deliberate, callous and cowardly'.
Kevin Lusted

Between 2016 and 2022, Kevin Lusted, from Sittingbourne, raped and sexually abused a vulnerable young victim on multiple occasions, subjecting them to repeated threats including that they would be tied up and shot. He was arrested in March 2023 following a Kent Police investigation that uncovered the evidence. Convicted by a jury on 15 March 2023.

Kevin Machin was part of a gang that imported drugs and counterfeit cigarettes into the UK from the continent. The gang operated between October 2011 and April 2013. Machin pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import amphetamine sulphate and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court.

Kristiyan Trendafilov, from Tunbridge Wells, who only held a provisional licence, took a relative's Toyota Avensis without permission and drove alone on the evening of 7 October 2018 on the A228 at Colts Hill near Tunbridge Wells. Having consumed alcohol and cannabis at a barbeque earlier that day, with blood tests showing significant alcohol and cannabis levels over the legal limit, he lost control attempting to negotiate a bend shortly before 11.15pm and drove head-on into a Fiat 500 carrying an 83-year-old woman and her 82-year-old husband. The collision forced the Fiat into a hedgerow; the woman died several days later in hospital, and her husband died in January 2019 after months in hospital. Trendafilov's car spun into a ditch and caught fire; he escaped serious injury.
Admitted to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving just prior to the start of a trial. Disqualified from driving for three years upon release and must take an extended test.

Kurt Baker, 39, from Gravesend, joined Mark Lindow for the final rape offence against a 16-year-old victim in August 2020. His face was partially captured on video but distinctive tattoos were visible, leading to identification. Part of a series of rapes starting from grooming in January 2020.

Between August and December 2014, over £510,000 was laundered through the Latom 'O' Store, a mini-market on Batchelor Street, Chatham, which was registered as a legitimate money service business but used as a front for global fraud. Victims from Australia, New Zealand and the US were tricked through fake romance, 'friends in need' and lottery scams. Bryan was a key player in the money laundering operation. The money was funnelled through him and a Crawley-based associate linked to a separate £750,000 laundering scheme. Both were arrested in October 2015.
Convicted after trial. Subject to a five-year Serious Crime Prevention Order on release.
Kye Hooper

Kye Hooper, 35, of Third Avenue, Gillingham, threatened a shop worker with a knife before stealing food and drink including alcohol, bread and pasta from a store in Sturdee Avenue, Gillingham, at 10.44pm on Tuesday 15 February 2022. While inside the shop he picked up items, took them to the till to be scanned, produced a knife and held it to the cashier’s face. He then took the items and gestured with the knife towards other employees as he left the store. He was identified via CCTV, arrested the following day on suspicion of robbery and possession of a bladed article in a public place, and later charged.
Admitted robbery and possession of a bladed article in a public place. Investigating officer PC Ben Slocombe noted Hooper was motivated by greed and used a weapon to inflict fear on the victim.

On 18 August 2022, the victim, in his 20s, went to a flat in Upper Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells, to discuss a dispute over a clothing purchase involving one of the occupants. He met Kojo O’Hene, known by the nickname ‘Knowledge’, who unexpectedly attacked him with a knife. The victim suffered a total of seven stab wounds, protected himself by placing his arms over his head and pulling his legs up to his chest. He escaped, drove to a property in Belgrave Road seeking assistance, where members of the public provided first aid until police and paramedics arrived. The victim was hospitalised for life-threatening injuries. Blood traces and discarded blood-stained clothing were found at the scene.
Pleaded not guilty to attempted murder but convicted of wounding with intent following a trial. Aged 45 at sentencing.
