Cyrus Bailey failed to give way at a junction on Stockwitch Lane in Yeovilton on May 12, 2024, while driving, causing a collision with Christine Ibbotson's car. She suffered catastrophic injuries in the crash and died three days later despite medical efforts.
Pleaded guilty. The magistrate described his actions as 'more than a momentary lapse of concentration' and noted that give way signs were clearly visible. Victim impact statements from Christine Ibbotson's daughters were read in court.

On July 5, 2024, Edward Earle racially abused a staff member at Chick-O-Land in Salisbury and made threats. During his arrest shortly after, he became verbally abusive towards police and threw a shoe at an officer while in custody.
Pleaded guilty to racially aggravated public order, Section 5 Public Order offence, and assaulting an emergency worker. PC Taylor commented that the behaviour was unacceptable and that assaults on officers are not tolerated.

On Monday 22 August, Jack Brownless, 39, of Hazelbury Brian, Dorset, was driving a silver Mercedes B-Class and was reported for swerving across the A39 near Wells. He struck a wall before continuing his journey and came to a stop at the Green Ore Crossroads, where police found him at around 5.45pm. Body worn footage showed him impaired, struggling to understand basic questions, and he gave a positive roadside drugs test for cannabis. Officers found several small snap bags of white powder (ketamine) on the driver’s seat and in cup holders, a small set of scales with powder in the driver’s door pocket, and a tobacco pouch full of cannabis in the centre console.
Pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle above the specified drug limit and two counts of possession of a controlled Class B drug (ketamine and cannabis). Subject to a rehabilitation activity requirement.

Lewis William Goodenough attended Glastonbury Tor for Summer Solstice celebrations on June 21, 2024, where he became semi-conscious and under the influence of drink or drugs. He fell onto a sleeping child, made sexual and suggestive comments to females, attempted to kiss a female officer, and threatened to jump in front of cars. Police arrested him after his behaviour escalated, and he appeared in court for the incident.
Pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly. Was under the influence of drink or drugs and disruptive at an event with children present. Judge stated he was lucky not to face more serious charges and noted his efforts to remain abstinent.

Callum Macdonald, 20, of Frome, was convicted for three thefts in January 2024, stealing hundreds of pounds worth of alcohol, food and household items from shops. Following an application from the Antisocial Behaviour Team and Neighbourhood Policing Team, a Criminal Behaviour Order was granted to prevent reoffending.
Banned from every Co-Op and Marks & Spencer store nationwide, and specific branches of Boots, Iceland and a Shell service station in Frome. Not allowed to enter any business or retail premises where previously banned or remain when asked to leave. Breaching could lead to up to 5 years imprisonment.

Christopher Grigg was found to possess over 6,000 indecent movies and images of children on devices at his Ilminster home, including 252 Category A, 380 Category B, and 252 Category C images. Offences occurred between July 2019 and November 2023. Police traced an IP address linked to his email and discovered extreme pornographic images depicting intercourse with animals. Grigg, now of Cardiff, was arrested after a search. He had a prior 2011 conviction for similar offences. The court heard he cooperated fully after devices were found and had mental health issues.
Pleaded guilty to multiple counts of making indecent photographs of children and possessing extreme pornographic material. Cooperated with police. Prior 2011 conviction for similar offences. Aaron Butler, a 34-year-old estate agent from Frome, engaged in a sexualised online conversation with a 17-year-old girl, sent her explicit images, and threatened to post them online when she failed to meet him after receiving money for travel. The victim was in care and had previously been a victim of a serious sexual offence. Butler transferred £10 to her for travel costs. When she did not show, he threatened to share the explicit content unless she returned the money, continuing the threats despite her warning that he was dealing with a minor.
Pleaded guilty. Expressed regret, describing his actions as a 'stupid, knee-jerk reaction'.
Anthony Richard Mayne

Anthony Richard Mayne, 73, of George Street, Glastonbury, was found stumbling along Wirral Park Road after police responded to an unrelated incident in Glastonbury town centre at 8.30pm on January 28. He became aggressive towards officers, lunging at one and grabbing the body-worn camera.
Pleaded guilty. Long history of previous convictions including exposure in December last year for which he received six weeks custody. Now has accommodation for the first time in 10 years and plans to address alcohol issues with Probation Service.
Dean Parker

Dean Parker, upset after his ex-partner moved away with their children, took cocaine and caused extensive damage to his room at the Premier Inn in Taunton on 2 March. Staff heard distressed cries and banging, and police found he had barricaded himself inside. The room had a large smashed window and furniture upturned and strewn everywhere. Parker admitted taking two lines of cocaine earlier that day. He made full admissions to the police and pleaded guilty to criminal damage.
Pleaded guilty to criminal damage. No costs or surcharge imposed. The magistrates considered the offending out of character and triggered by a relationship breakdown.
