Three minutes later, he broke into a second property in Joyce Green Lane, stealing car keys, electrical items and the victim’s vehicle, which was later recovered in St John’s Road, Erith. AirPods were tracked to his address in Erith, leading to confrontation, police alert and his arrest with stolen items seized from his property.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary. Ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228.

Martin Asolo-Agogua, a 23-year-old bus driver, attended his shift on August 3, 2023, after staying up all night at a party and smoking cannabis. He was seen yawning and nodding off while driving a double-decker bus in Bexleyheath, which swerved erratically onto the pavement on Watling Street, striking and killing nine-year-old Ada Bicakci, who was cycling with her five-year-old brother and father. The incident occurred as she was heading to her gymnastics class. Asolo-Agogua had obtained his driving licence in January 2023 and was employed by Arriva by January 2024, during which time there were multiple complaints about his driving, including a brief suspension that was later lifted.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs. Judge Ben Gumpert KC noted that the crash was due to fatigue from staying up all night. Prior complaints about his driving, including incidents of damaging vehicles and buses, were considered.

Found guilty after a three-week trial of four offences of disseminating a terrorist publication contrary to Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006, and two offences of possession of material likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism contrary to Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000. In 2013, Gary Preston sent suspicious packages containing talcum powder and threatening notes to various establishments including schools (St Michaels Primary School, Lyons Hall Primary School, Notley High School), universities (Anglia Ruskin University), shopping centres (Westfield Shopping Centre in London, Freeport Shopping Centre in Braintree), businesses (Vision Express, Coral, Specsavers, Barclays, Costa Coffee in Braintree), DVLA headquarters in Swansea, Transport for London, Essex County Council, and a Premier Inn near Stansted Airport. The notes suggested the powder was deadly and instructed recipients to run or hold their breath. No motive or links to the targets were found. Arrested in July 2020 for a separate offence, DNA and fingerprints matched the packages; handwriting analysis confirmed authorship. Additionally, DNA linked him to an indecent assault at knifepoint against a woman in Rainham, Essex, in 1988, involving possession of a knife.
Pleaded guilty to 21 counts of sending a hoax substance or other thing, one count of indecent assault, and possessing an offensive weapon. Placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. 5 years and 3 months for indecent assault, 4 years and 3 months concurrent for each hoax offence, 12 months concurrent for possessing an offensive weapon.

She confided in a friend, leading to police involvement. DNA on the victim's clothing linked him to the crime. He also faced charges for making indecent images of children aged three to 13 found on his mobile phone.

Steve Hughes, a 55-year-old mental health counsellor from Eltham, sought out and engaged in a six-month online relationship with a 14-year-old girl starting in November 2022, sending sexualised and grooming messages. He was also messaging three other decoy accounts of girls aged 13 or 14. He was confronted by paedophile hunters in May 2023 and subsequently convicted of four charges.
Pleaded not guilty but was convicted by a jury. Judge suspended the sentence due to a realistic chance of rehabilitation and ordered him to pay £4,380 in costs. Subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Anjem Choudary, a radical preacher from Ilford, was involved in directing the terrorist organisation Al-Muhajiroun (ALM). He took on the role of 'caretaker emir' in 2014 and continued to influence and radicalise a new generation of extremists through online lectures on encrypted platforms. He encouraged and assisted numerous individuals to join and fight for Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS). Choudary was arrested at his home on July 17, 2023, following investigations by the Metropolitan Police, MI5, and international partners in New York and Canada. The crimes spanned several years and involved covert recordings of his activities.
Found guilty of directing a terrorist organisation, membership of a proscribed organisation, and encouraging support for a terrorist organisation. Had a previous terror conviction from 2016 and will be subject to notification requirements for 30 years.

Gerard Sargeant, 55, from Hove, committed two robberies in Brighton and six other offences including theft, assault and robbery in Brighton, Manchester and London from September to December 2021. On 4 December 2021, he met a 56-year-old Brighton man online, visited his home, robbed him at knifepoint, stealing cash cards, mobile phone, home phone, laptop, and withdrew £250 using the victim's PIN. The next day, he threatened an 82-year-old man he was living with, locked him in his bedroom, robbed him of bank cards and several hundred pounds in cash, and pushed him over causing nose injuries. He targeted vulnerable men he befriended, gaining their trust before threatening and assaulting them. He was wanted by three police forces, arrested in February 2022, and pleaded guilty in May 2022.
Admitted theft, assault and robbery in Brighton, Manchester and London from September to December last year. Also convicted of a robbery in Manchester last November and one count of fraud, theft last September and a robbery in December in London.

Demeish Williams, 30, killed Andrew Clark, 43, outside a Sainsbury's supermarket in Beckenham, southeast London, after an argument over queue jumping. On the day after Newcastle United's Carabao Cup victory on March 16, Mr Clark and his wife went shopping. Williams tried to cut in line, leading to a confrontation. He left the store, retrieved something from his car, returned with a face covering, and struck Mr Clark with an open palm on the side of the head, causing him to fall and suffer a catastrophic brain injury. Mr Clark died three days later. Williams was arrested in Croydon and charged with murder, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Admitted manslaughter. Judge Andrew Lees noted the devastating impact on the victim's family. Eligible for release after serving up to two-thirds of the sentence, subject to licence conditions.

Ben Lacomba, a 39-year-old taxi driver, murdered his ex-partner Sarah Wellgreen, a mother of five, in New Ash Green near Sevenoaks in 2019. Sarah disappeared on October 10, 2018, and her body has never been found. Lacomba killed her and disposed of the body, refusing to disclose its location. He was found guilty after a trial where evidence included CCTV footage of him driving his taxi on the night of the disappearance, a 44-minute 999 call he made reporting her missing, and witness testimony that he was not home that night. The jury visited Sarah's home, where she spent her last moments alive. Lacomba gave evidence in his defence but was convicted of the murder.
Convicted of murder. Judge Christopher Kinch QC stated there is only one sentence for the offence. Refuses to reveal the location of the victim's body, affecting potential parole under Helen's Law.

On 19 June 2017, shortly after midnight, Darren Osborne drove a van into a crowd of Muslim worshippers near Finsbury Park Mosque in north London, killing Makram Ali, aged 51, who was already collapsed on the ground, and injuring at least nine others, including people of various ages and abilities such as deaf individuals and a wheelchair user. The attack occurred during Ramadan as people were leaving prayers. Osborne, radicalised rapidly online by far-right and anti-Islamic material after watching a drama about grooming gangs, intended to massacre Muslims and targeted the crowd because they were identifiable as such from their dress. He had planned to attack a protest march but failed due to police arrangements and instead sought an alternative target, driving around London for hours. After the attack, he attempted to flee but was caught and restrained by survivors. The incident was deemed a terrorist attack motivated by hatred of Muslims.
Convicted of murder and attempted murder. Denied the charges but found guilty by jury. Judge highlighted terrorist connection and ideological motivation. Concurrent life sentences for multiple counts of attempted murder.

Matthew Sparkes, driving an Audi S3 Quattro on the A2 in Gravesend, suddenly swerved from the outside lane to the inside lane, hitting the rear of a Ford Fiesta. The Fiesta spun across the road and crashed into another vehicle. Three women in the Fiesta were injured and taken to hospital, one with life-changing injuries. Sparkes continued driving for 500 metres before hitting a barrier, then made no attempt to assist the victims. He later pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court.

On 5 February, they struck a post office in Dartford, assaulting staff with an axe handle and punching them, fleeing with only £5. Later that day, they targeted another post office on Forest Road, but a panic alarm caused them to flee. Police investigation linked McClusky through stolen cheques found in his bag, his cap matching CCTV, and his blood at two crime scenes.
Pleaded guilty to three counts of robbery. Was on licence at the time of the offences. Judge Shorrock described him as high risk and said he sees offending as normal life.
Michael Mgbedike

Michael Mgbedike, 22, from Orpington, was caught smuggling firearms and class A drugs through the Eurotunnel. On 12 August 2017, Border Force and Trident gang unit stopped a car in Coquelles, France, finding two loaded firearms, ammunition, and a silencer. Mgbedike and Udo were arrested. A search of the vehicle revealed 990 grams of pure cocaine hidden in the roof cavity. He was part of a gang that made multiple smuggling trips to Amsterdam in summer 2017. Mgbedike was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on 17 May 2019.

Michael Seed, 58, from Islington, was the key member of the Hatton Garden gang who broke into the premises and disabled the security system during the Easter weekend raid in 2015. The gang stole an estimated £14 million in gold, silver, diamonds, and jewellery from 73 safety deposit boxes. Seed was the last gang member to be brought to justice, caught after a lengthy Metropolitan Police Flying Squad investigation using CCTV, witness statements, and forensic evidence.
Convicted of conspiracy to burgle and conspiracy to conceal criminal property after a six-week trial. Also received a concurrent eight-year sentence for concealing criminal property and a £170 victim surcharge.
Mohammed Ali

At about 09:50hrs on Tuesday, 20 March 2018 on the A13 eastbound between Ferry Lane and New Roundabout, Rainham, Kenneth Berry had pulled his Vauxhall Astra on a hard shoulder to clear debris from his vehicle. At the same time Mohammed Ali was driving a blue BMW 335D along the same road. Several drivers described seeing the car overtake them travelling at speeds estimated to be over 100mph. As the car attempted to overtake one car it was blocked and attempted to undertake. The BMW moved at speed from lane three, to lane one and then back into lane three. At this point Ali lost control of the car, which collided with Mr Berry’s stationary Astra. Mr Berry was just getting out of the car when Ali’s car struck his vehicle; he was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
Pleaded guilty on 14 July to causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by driving a vehicle whilst uninsured. Aged 21 (DOB 07.04.1999), of Barnet Grove, E2. Not insured to drive the car.
Mohammed Aminu

On 22 March 2023, Mohammed Aminu boarded a Route 181 bus in Lewisham High Street and engaged a 14-year-old girl in conversation, then followed her and sexually assaulted her. Half an hour later, he boarded a Route 124 bus and sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl, following her to school. On 25 March 2023, he boarded a bus in Soho and sexually assaulted another victim after following them. CCTV footage from buses identified him as the suspect, and he was arrested on 9 May 2023.
Pleaded guilty. Placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.

Nahom Gebeermskel, 23, from Milton Road, Gravesend, was caught running a county lines drug network. On 5 August 2019, officers monitoring drug activity at Gravesend railway station spotted him alighting from a London train. When approached, he attempted to flee, but a quantity of crack cocaine and heroin valued at up to £16,800 dropped from his waistband. A violent scuffle followed, during which a police officer was assaulted. Gebeermskel was arrested at the scene and later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Nicquan Taylor

On 26 February 2017, Nicquan Taylor drove his Mercedes while intoxicated and sleep-deprived, having been awake for 22 hours after a nightclub. He fell asleep at the wheel, mounted the pavement outside a car wash on Bromley Road, Bellingham, and struck five pedestrians. One victim, Iulian-Claudiu Girdoc, 31, died the next day from his injuries. Four others sustained serious injuries. Taylor attempted to flee but was stopped by staff and an off-duty police officer.
Pleaded guilty. Also disqualified from driving for 5 years and must pass an extended driving test. A charge of driving without insurance remains on file. Victims expressed disappointment at the sentence length.
Racine Ndiaye

On 21 November 2017, Ndiaye attempted to break into his ex-wife's home in Croydon at 8am, shouting threats to kill. He fled after police were called, but returned at 11am, smashed through a window, grabbed a kitchen knife, and chased the woman upstairs. She locked herself in the bathroom and tried to escape out the window, but Ndiaye kicked the door down and dragged her back. She fell, breaking her ankle. He repeatedly punched and kicked her while onlookers attempted to intervene. He fled before police arrived, and the victim sustained multiple facial injuries and a broken ankle. Ndiaye was arrested later that day and charged the following morning.
Found guilty of wounding with intent, burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, and common assault. Also issued a restraining order. Detective Constable Milo Horvath said: 'This lengthy sentence reflects how seriously police and the courts take vicious attacks such as this.'
Paul Hoare

Paul Hoare met his victim on 7 April 2020 as they walked through Broomfield Park in Swanscombe. After exchanging contact details, he began behaving in a controlling manner. He stalked her by placing a mobile phone under her car to trace her movements, followed her, sent messages indicating he knew her location, hid in bushes watching her, assaulted her, checked her phone, stole her front door key, demanded to stay at her house, threatened her, and raped her on several occasions. He also attempted to pervert the course of justice by calling a friend from prison to assault her. The victim reported the offences leading to his arrest.
Jury found him guilty of two counts of rape and perverting the course of justice. Previously admitted stalking involving fear of violence, two charges of assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour. Will be detained in hospital under the Mental Health Act but will serve the jail term if his condition improves, in addition to a further seven years on licence. Given a lifetime restraining order and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Conspiracy to convey prohibited items into prison *

On 24 April 2018, during a routine search at HMP Swaleside, prison officer Martin Fazakarley, who was on duty, confessed to carrying prohibited items. He handed over two specially modified crisp tubes and a drinks bottle containing cannabis, crack cocaine, and tobacco. He claimed he believed the package only contained cannabis. Later that day, officers raided inmate Kevin Hutchinson-Foster’s cell and found a mobile phone and rigged drinks cans. Fazakarley was part of a conspiracy to smuggle drugs for financial gain. He admitted the offence.
Pleaded guilty to conspiring to smuggle prohibited items. He was a prison officer at HMP Swaleside. Detective Constable Simon Mather stated it was a calculated plot and breach of trust for financial gain.
Osman Suleyman
Rape *

16 years imprisonment and an extended five years on licence
On October 4, 2019, Osman Suleyman, who had no fixed address, demanded a 23-year-old woman known to him perform sexual acts as payment for drugs and alcohol after a night out in Woolwich Town Centre. The group returned to a flat in Charlton in the early hours of October 5. When she refused, he turned violent, repeatedly striking her face with a knuckle duster and the sheath of a knife, kicked her, forced her to perform a sex act, and raped her. He threatened to kill her if she told police. A friend called police shortly after; officers found blood on walls and door, arrested Suleyman at the scene. The victim suffered extensive injuries including cuts and bruises.
Unanimously found guilty of two counts of rape, assault (ABH), threats to kill and false imprisonment.
Patrick Mcardle
Conspiracy to produce cannabis *

Patrick McArdle was an accomplice recruited by Jason Smart to produce cannabis in properties let by Home to Home estate agents, including one on Dartmouth Road SE26 discovered in September 2013. A tenancy agreement in his possession was dated August 2013, but forensic evidence showed the plants were already growing prior. Also involved in separate cannabis production in Essex.
Found guilty alongside Lynch and Smart of conspiracy to produce cannabis; also convicted for production of cannabis in an unconnected incident in Essex. Aged 37, of no fixed abode.
Tia Henry

Tia Henry, 40, from London, was involved in coordinating drugs supply with Michael Olarabiro as part of the G-line county line network selling crack cocaine and heroin in Gravesend between June and September 2022. She was arrested days after Olarabiro.

Tyrone Ludlow

Tyrone Ludlow, 35, of Lane Avenue, Greenhithe, threw a mobile phone at his ex-partner on 19 January 2022, narrowly missing her head and damaging a wall, then destroyed a television and ripped off a kitchen cupboard door while shouting abuse. She obtained a non-molestation order which he breached twice in April by sending text messages. On 16 April 2022, he was captured on doorbell camera carrying a petrol can to her address in Gravesend, causing an explosion that destroyed her garden shed by fire while she was home with her three children.
Pleaded guilty to arson. Also admitted charges of assault, criminal damage and breach of a non-molestation order.
Victor Komolafe
Attempted rape, sexual assault, and assault by penetration *

Victor Komolafe, 35, was found guilty of one count of attempted rape, one count of sexual assault, and two counts of assault by penetration against two complainants unknown to each other. He was first arrested in August 2023 after a complaint of sexual assault, which he claimed was consensual. A second victim came forward in September 2023. Komolafe used aliases such as Ghost and Xavier and withheld his identity from victims. He denied victims food and water to incapacitate them, and committed the offences in a car belonging to his partner. Forensic analysis, including DNA evidence, linked him to the crimes. He was targeted by the Met's V100 programme which uses data to pursue the top 100 offenders posing the highest risk to women and girls.
Found guilty of four counts including attempted rape, sexual assault, and assault by penetration. Used aliases Ghost and Xavier. Convicted as part of Met's V100 programme targeting high-risk offenders.
Vinh Van Vu
Rape and sexual assault of a child under 13 *

Vinh Van Vu, a 32-year-old man from Manchester, was sentenced for the sustained sexual abuse of a young girl that began when she was seven. The offences, involving several counts of rape and sexual assault against a child under 13, took place between 2011 and 2016 at various addresses in the Greenwich area of London. The victim disclosed the abuse on 15 February 2016 via Childline, leading to Vu’s arrest the same day. He was found guilty on 2 November 2017 after a trial.
Convicted after trial on multiple counts of rape and sexual assault against a child under 13. The sentence comprised a 15-year custodial term with an extended 5-year licence period. Detective Sergeant Colin Cooper described him as 'a dangerous individual who poses a serious risk to children'.
Warren David Manners
Making and possessing indecent images of children and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order *

Warren David Manners, aged 45, of Sowerby Close, Eltham, was a registered sex offender subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order prohibiting possession of digital devices without notifying his Jigsaw sex offenders management unit. On 22 March 2023, Metropolitan Police’s Online Child Sex Abuse and Exploitation Team executed a search warrant at his flat. He denied owning any phones or laptops, but officers found 32 digital devices hidden throughout the property, including in a locked cupboard. Forensic examination revealed 447 Category A, 241 Category B, and 333 Category C indecent images of children, plus one Category C indecent photograph of a child. He was charged with three counts of making indecent images of children, one count of possessing indecent images, and three counts of breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He pleaded guilty at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on 23 March 2023 and was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on 4 May 2023.
Pleaded guilty at first hearing. Already a registered sex offender with a prior conviction for possessing indecent images of children, subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which he breached.
Steven Franklin

Kent Police investigated allegations that Franklin subjected a child to a sustained campaign of sexual abuse over more than three decades. A second victim from the 1970s was identified, who suffered abuse at Franklin's hands for more than a decade. Convicted of 10 sexual offences, including five counts of rape.
Pleaded not guilty. Convicted by unanimous jury verdict after trial. Must serve at least two thirds of sentence before applying for parole.
Steven Ojeymi

Steven Ojeymi, 25, from Battersea, was the kingpin behind a North Kent county lines drug racket. On 6 August 2019, police raided his home and found a stash of crack cocaine and heroin worth up to £230,000 hidden in a bin under clothes, along with £7,500 in cash, 22 mobile phones, and 19 SIM cards. He was orchestrating county lines dealing to north Kent.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property.
Tai Diedrick

On 10 April 2017, police raided a property on Parry Road, South Norwood, London. Tai Diedrick and Shaquille Boreland were found in a bedroom with a stash of cocaine and heroin valued at around £28,000. A plastic carrier bag thrown from the window was recovered; Diedrick's fingerprints were found on one bag and Boreland's DNA on others discarded outside. Both admitted intent to supply Class A drugs.
