Matthew Slate, 36, of Wood Green, London, was a ‘Global Moderator’ on ‘Olympus’ – a pro-paedophile forum – as well as holding prominent positions across six more child abuse forums on the dark web. Slate’s house was searched and officers seized three devices, including a computer which was logged into an online forum where the sexual abuse of children was being discussed. Another tab displayed a site used specifically to upload child sexual abuse material. Further searches of the devices uncovered nearly 87,000 indecent images of children, with over 15,200 of those found to be Category A, the most severe.
Pleaded guilty to a number of offences on 19 February. Following a National Crime Agency investigation.

Mohamad Yousef, 37, posed as a 33-year-old hospital doctor on a dating site in May 2017, sending a photo of himself in hospital scrubs. He became engaged to a 30-year-old woman within weeks and claimed to be organising their wedding at the Dorchester Hotel, convincing her to transfer £800 and then take out a £15,000 loan for wedding costs. After receiving the money, he disappeared. The victim discovered no record of Yousef working at the hospital and no booking at the Dorchester. He was arrested at Heathrow in September 2017 and admitted keeping the cash.

Lee Christopher Cropper, a 31-year-old photographer from Tottenham, London, originally from Devon, admitted three counts of sexual assault. He was sentenced to 33 months imprisonment at Wood Green Crown Court. The judge ordered the forfeiture and destruction of photographs linked to the offences and placed Cropper on the sex offenders register indefinitely. Cropper was arrested in May of the year and had worked with several celebrity clients.

On February 26, 2018, Lloyd Weekes groped a 14-year-old girl on a packed Route W3 bus in Haringey, London. The girl was travelling with a friend when Weekes began touching her inappropriately. She confronted him, escaped, and reported the attack to police. A Detective Constable from the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command recognised Weekes from CCTV images shared among officers, leading to his arrest and charge. He pleaded guilty on February 8, 2019.

Mamun Rashid

Mamun Rashid, 30, used SpareRoom to advertise a spare room in his Tower Hamlets flat, offering free rent in exchange for sex. Between August 2016 and May 2017, he lured three women aged 19, 22 and 29 to the property. When they refused, he violently assaulted them. On 7 May 2017 a 19‑year‑old victim moved in and was raped that evening; Rashid threatened to kill her if she screamed or called police. She fought back, escaped and reported him early on 8 May. After his arrest on 9 May, police and SpareRoom contacted around 3,000 people, leading two further victims to come forward: a 29‑year‑old raped in August 2016 and a 22‑year‑old sexually assaulted in April 2017. Rashid was convicted of five counts of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, actual bodily harm and threatening to kill.
Pleaded not guilty but found guilty. Declared dangerous, resulting in an extended 4‑year licence period on top of a 14‑year custodial term.

On 20 May 2020, Marian Dragoi, 19, was involved in a high-speed police chase after officers noticed his motorbike had a false number plate. He drove at speeds of 70mph in a 20mph zone and 180mph on the M1, went through red lights, mounted the pavement and drove the wrong way up a section of the M1's hard shoulder. He was arrested at Newport Pagnell services after stopping to refuel. He subsequently tested positive for cocaine but was not charged on that count. He had been working on a construction site, studying business at college, paying half his family's rent and taking his autistic sister to and from school.
Also given a 29-month driving ban. Judge described the case as 'difficult to imagine a more serious case of dangerous driving'. Attempted to flee courtroom after sentencing but was detained.

Alexis Morris and Marvin Ward agreed to meet Hussain Chaudhry on 17 March 2021 at his home in Lea Bridge Road, E17, to buy a designer jacket advertised on social media. They entered the address with two of Hussain’s friends. Morris and Ward then produced knives, threatened Hussain, held him and his friends at knifepoint, searched for more jackets, and attempted to rob the property. During the struggle after Hussain’s mother and brothers intervened, Hussain suffered a fatal stab wound to his neck, his mother a serious injury to her thumb, and his brother an injury to his hand. Morris escaped via an upstairs window.
Found guilty after trial of manslaughter, robbery, two counts of GBH, and possession of a machete. All sentences to run concurrently. Additional 12 months for possession of a weapon.

Ali Bahramzadeh, 23, took his mother’s Nissan Pixo without permission on 17 November 2016. He was driving with passengers along Ashurst Road, North Finchley, when he failed to stop at a mini roundabout and collided with 18-year-old moped rider Alfie O’Keefe-Hedges. Bahramzadeh and his passengers fled the scene, leaving Alfie with serious head injuries. Alfie died eight days later on 25 November 2016. Bahramzadeh turned himself in at a North London police station that night, later admitting the offences.
Pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving, driving uninsured, and failing to stop. Turned himself in on the night of the collision. Banned from driving for two and a half years.
Anandarajah Bremakumar

Anandarajah Bremakumar, from Colindale in North London, sexually assaulted a girl under 16 known to him in 2010, involving four counts of sexual activity with a child. The abuse was reported in 2019 when a therapist contacted the Metropolitan Police. Bremakumar was arrested on 30 April 2021 and denied the charges. Following a trial at Wood Green Crown Court that concluded on 6 December 2023, he was found guilty on all counts and sentenced on 1 February 2024 to 30 months imprisonment.

Anthony Maina, 52, a paedophile from Stoke Newington, groomed, manipulated and sexually abused a young girl in Hackney. He occupied a position of trust and exploited it to commit 'the vilest sexual offences'. He bought her gifts and mobile phones to gain loyalty, referred to her as 'his girl' and 'best friend in the universe', and isolated her by accusing others of being bad influences. If she didn't contact him, he accused her of neglecting him. He would lure her to his property on false pretences and abuse her. The survivor reported the abuse in December 2018, and an extensive investigation led to his conviction. Maina showed no remorse and claimed she was a 'troublemaker'.
Found guilty of 17 offences: seven counts of rape, eight counts of assault by penetration and two counts of sexual activity with a child. He occupied a position of trust, groomed the victim with gifts, isolated her from others, and abused her over a period. Showed no remorse.

He was arrested and subsequently convicted of multiple child sexual offences.

On 6 July 2022, Alidov attacked his then-partner at her workplace by pulling her hair, pushing her to the floor causing unconsciousness, and later made threats to kill her over the phone. He fled to Bulgaria, taking her passport. On his return on 29 August 2022, he beat, strangled, and threatened to kill her when she met to retrieve her passport. The following day, he punched and stabbed her several times, leaving her unresponsive. Members of the public restrained him until police arrived.

On Saturday, 24 September 2016, Bahram Hekmat stalked a 13-year-old girl at a bus stop on Ponders End High Road in Enfield. He pulled up in his car, blew kisses, made creepy sexual gestures, and beckoned her to get in. The terrified girl boarded a northbound 279 bus, but Hekmat followed in his car and parked where she got off at Hertford Road/Green Street. He continued blowing kisses and threatened to keep stalking her if she didn’t respond to his advances. A passerby noticed, the girl called out, and Hekmat sped off. The victim's mother alerted police, who reviewed bus CCTV and traced him via his car registration. He was arrested at his home in December 2016.
Pleaded not guilty. Received a 12-month supervision order and an indefinite restraining order near the scene of the crime. Case set a legal precedent as the first stalking conviction from an incident lasting under 15 minutes.

After a brief three-month romance ended, Kucukbalaban stalked his ex-girlfriend, leaving messages and following her home. He created a fake Instagram account in her name and, using software, secretly recorded her during a video call to obtain intimate photos, which he posted online. In the early hours of 13 October 2021, Chelsea O'Neill, then aged 21 and of no fixed address, visited a young girl known to her at her home in Tottenham. She strangled the victim and committed sexual assault by penetration and by touching, causing actual bodily harm. The victim reported the incident the next day, leading to O'Neill's arrest and subsequent charge on 15 October 2021. After a three-week trial, she was convicted on all counts. On 27 January 2023, at Wood Green Crown Court, she was sentenced to five years imprisonment.

Corosh Ykkta, 22, befriended a 19-year-old Polish woman who had been in the UK for only three weeks. In the early hours of Saturday, April 9, he lured her to Alexandra Park in Muswell Hill where he raped her, then drove her to Kings Avenue and raped her again in his car during a five-hour ordeal. He was arrested on April 14 after police traced him using descriptions of his appearance and clothing.

Abdullah Qureshi

Abdullah Qureshi, 31, travelled from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, to Stamford Hill, east London, on 18 August 2021 and attacked three Jewish passers-by over a two-hour period. He hit teacher Chaine Greenfeld on the head with a bottle at around 6.40pm, slapped a 14-year-old boy on his way to an orthodox Jewish school at about 7.45pm, and punched 64-year-old Jacob Lipschitz on the ear with tremendous power while Lipschitz was walking to synagogue at about 8.30pm, causing him to hit his head on a wall, lose consciousness, and suffer facial bruising, a sprained ankle, and four foot fractures. All victims were targeted because of their Jewish faith, as they were wearing traditional orthodox Jewish clothing. Qureshi had been playing Arabic music on his phone before the attacks.
Found guilty in November of inflicting religiously aggravated grievous bodily harm and two counts of religiously aggravated assault by beating. Had initially pleaded guilty to two assaults without the religiously aggravated element. District Judge John Law concluded the defendant picked out victims because of their Jewish faith.

Daniel Rodriguez, also known as Grymey D, a 28-year-old paedophile rapper from Hackney, north London, groomed schoolgirls on social media using Instagram, Facebook and Blackberry Messenger, inviting them to his home. Videos found on devices in his bedroom at his parents' house showed him engaging in sex with young girls, including filming himself having sex with a 14-year-old girl who arrived wearing her school uniform.
Sentenced for 15 counts. Judge Joanna Greenberg QC stated he deliberately targeted young girls to carry out deviant sexual fantasies, expressed hollow remorse, and presents a significant risk of causing serious psychological harm to young girls.

Jordi Matuba, 22, from Woodberry Down Estate, was found with £12,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin during a police raid as part of Operation Ballymore, an intelligence-led campaign launched in January 2018 after a spike in gang violence linked to drugs. He was arrested in September 2018 during early-morning raids in Stoke Newington and surrounding areas, alongside 37 others. He admitted to possession with intent to supply class A drugs at Wood Green Crown Court.

On 1 July 2022, Inspector Tony McGovern on a motorcycle patrol in Haringey became suspicious of Joseph Ward's driving behaviour at the junction of Upton Road and Woolmer Road. After Inspector McGovern spoke to Ward through the driver's side window, Ward pulled forward and deliberately reversed into the inspector, causing injuries to his legs, shoulders and back. Ward fled the scene. He had earlier posed as a police officer and demanded money from another driver on 23 June 2022, and was involved in a collision on 5 July 2022 and a failure to stop for police on 6 July 2022 where he damaged two police cars. Ward was arrested on 20 July 2022 and charged with 14 offences.
Pleaded guilty to 14 offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, impersonating a police officer, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. Deliberately reversed into a police officer causing leg, shoulder and back injuries.

Howard Zin Green, a 47-year-old youth worker from Queens Avenue, Greenford, Ealing, was sentenced to 11 years in prison for sex offences against young girls between 1979 and 1994. He targeted up to 10 victims aged four to 16 while volunteering for youth groups and a church school. The investigation began in October 2006 after allegations of assault on a 14-year-old girl. In March 2008, he pleaded guilty to one count of rape, three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14, two counts of indecent assault on a girl under 16, and two counts of indecent assault on women. Sentencing took place on Friday 6 June 2008 at Wood Green Crown Court.

Hugo Delgado, 22, of Woodford Green, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting two lone women in hotel rooms in Shoreditch, east London, in October 2019. On 6 October 2019, he approached a woman in her 50s at a hotel, claiming her room was his, and later told reception he was her husband. He entered her room naked and sexually assaulted her; she screamed and he fled. On 12 October 2019, he targeted a woman in her 20s who was walking near Old Street. She later awoke in a hotel room to find Delgado sexually assaulting her. Police attending the hotel found him in the room and arrested him. He was convicted of assault by penetration, sexual assault, and trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence at Wood Green Crown Court.
