Hongchi Xiao, an alternative healer from California, organised a Paida Lajin therapy workshop in October 2016 at Cleeve House in Seend, Wiltshire. He encouraged Danielle Carr-Gomm, a 71-year-old woman with type 1 diabetes diagnosed in 1999, to stop taking her insulin medication. Despite her serious deterioration, including vomiting, weakness, howling in pain, and frothing at the mouth, he failed to seek medical help, leading to her death on the fourth day of the workshop. Xiao had previously been involved in a similar incident in Australia where a child died after parents withdrew insulin following his workshop.
Convicted by a jury. Judge Mr Justice Bright noted no real sign of clear remorse and considered him dangerous regarding Paida Lajin practices. Defence claimed deep regret, recognised weaknesses in teachings, and stated he would not conduct workshops the same way again.

Liam Wall, a 32-year-old resident at the Society of St James assisted living accommodation in Worting Road, Basingstoke, confronted his housemate on August 4, demanding money. When refused, he took a knife from the kitchen and brandished it during a prolonged dispute. CCTV footage showed him threatening the victim multiple times, and the victim's room door was damaged. The victim also armed himself with a machete, but no injuries were reported. Wall was arrested following the incident.
Pleaded guilty to the charges. Has a criminal history of 69 offences, including theft, disorderly behaviour, assault, attempted robbery, and criminal damage. Judge noted progress such as abstaining from drugs and completing a detoxification programme, but a custodial sentence was deemed unavoidable. A 25 per cent reduction was applied for the guilty plea, and he had already served four months in remand. A suspended sentence from November 2023 for attempted affray remains in effect until November 2025.

During the search of his address in Southampton, more than 90 street deals of cocaine and handwritten notes relating to supplying drugs were seized.

Samuel Charles Dewulf, 43, of Basingstoke, murdered Justin Green, 48, by stabbing him in the leg during a money dispute at Green's home in Braddock Court, Basingstoke, on 29 April 2024. The stab wound caused catastrophic blood loss, leading to Green's death at the scene. Dewulf fled after stepping over the victim, returning briefly to collect his phone. He initially denied involvement but changed his plea to guilty following evidence including witness testimonies, DNA, CCTV, and phone records.

On April 29, Samuel Dewulf visited Justin Green's flat in Braddock Court with Dean Caparn. During a minor altercation involving Jonathan Hasmi, Dewulf became aggressive, picked up two knives, and stabbed Green in the thigh, causing fatal injuries. Dewulf left the scene without helping, returned briefly to collect his phone, and refused to call emergency services. He later attempted to destroy evidence by discarding his clothes and instructing others to dispose of his trainers. The attack was motiveless, and Dewulf was arrested on May 2.
Pleaded guilty to murder on the fourth day of the trial. Judge Dugdale noted the attack was unprovoked and inexplicable, and did not accept remorse as a mitigating factor, as Dewulf ignored requests for assistance and initially blamed an innocent man.

Lynam fled the scene, abandoned his vehicle on Churchfields Road, and evaded police until his arrest on March 31, 2024.

Robert Ive, 42, of Camberley, Surrey, started communicating online on 18 May 2024 with a profile he believed to be a 14-year-old girl from Leicestershire, who was actually an undercover police officer. Despite knowing her age, he engaged in sexual conversations, groomed her to travel 100 miles to Hampshire for sex, instructed her on how to travel without suspicion, and pretended to be her friend's dad in a call to her 'mum' (another undercover officer). On 31 May 2024, he travelled to Farnborough train station with cans of Strongbow cider to meet her and was arrested upon arrival. He admitted to police that he shouldn't have done it.
Guilty plea. Breached a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Has various other convictions for child sex offences.
