Hongchi Xiao, an alternative healer from California, organised a Paida Lajin therapy workshop in October 2016 at Cleeve House in Seend, Wiltshire. He encouraged Danielle Carr-Gomm, a 71-year-old woman with type 1 diabetes diagnosed in 1999, to stop taking her insulin medication. Despite her serious deterioration, including vomiting, weakness, howling in pain, and frothing at the mouth, he failed to seek medical help, leading to her death on the fourth day of the workshop. Xiao had previously been involved in a similar incident in Australia where a child died after parents withdrew insulin following his workshop.
Convicted by a jury. Judge Mr Justice Bright noted no real sign of clear remorse and considered him dangerous regarding Paida Lajin practices. Defence claimed deep regret, recognised weaknesses in teachings, and stated he would not conduct workshops the same way again.

The stab wound caused catastrophic blood loss, leading to Green's death at the scene. Dewulf fled after stepping over the victim, returning briefly to collect his phone. He initially denied involvement but changed his plea to guilty following evidence including witness testimonies, DNA, CCTV, and phone records.

On April 29, Samuel Dewulf visited Justin Green's flat in Braddock Court with Dean Caparn. During a minor altercation involving Jonathan Hasmi, Dewulf became aggressive, picked up two knives, and stabbed Green in the thigh, causing fatal injuries. Dewulf left the scene without helping, returned briefly to collect his phone, and refused to call emergency services. He later attempted to destroy evidence by discarding his clothes and instructing others to dispose of his trainers. The attack was motiveless, and Dewulf was arrested on May 2.

In the second incident on February 25, 2024, in Andover, after refusing to do the washing up, he screamed at her, put her in a headlock causing her to struggle for breath, poured water over her, pinned her against a wall, dragged her from the bathroom, and hit her with full force. The victim described the events as traumatic, leading to sleep loss and flashbacks.
First offence; young age; cares for his grandfather and has an apprenticeship as a butcher. The judge, Mr Recorder Jaron Crooknorth, noted that the relationship should have been loving and trusting.

In retaliation, he drove his blue Ford Focus at high speed into the pair, causing life-changing injuries to the male victim and serious but non-life-changing injuries to the female victim. Lynam fled the scene, abandoned his vehicle on Churchfields Road, and evaded police until his arrest on March 31, 2024.

He played a lesser role in supplying Class A drugs and has a history of other offences, including stealing more than £3,000 worth of items from the One Stop shop in Shakespeare Road between September 18 and October 11, for which he was previously jailed.
The defendant has been making efforts to stop using drugs, including working as a mentor in prison and weaning himself off methadone. His lawyer noted this could be a turning point, citing his traumatic childhood and the tragic deaths of his sister and her daughter. The judge acknowledged he played a lesser role in supplying Class A drugs and has no previous drug offences but a long record of other offences.

He first climbed through an open window at an address on St Georges Street, where he was confronted by the resident and claimed he needed somewhere to stay before leaving. While police were searching for him, he gained entry to a restricted area at the Royal Hotel, attempting to steal bottles of wine, and escaped through a window, leaving a rucksack full of alcohol behind. He was detained nearby wearing the same clothes described by witnesses.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary. PC Nick Horsey commented on the seriousness of the crime and the justice served.
Winter Swan-Miller

Benjamin Atkins murdered Simon Shotton, 49, in a ferocious attack at their shared flat in Aylesbury Road, Boscombe, on or around August 26, 2023. After the killing, Atkins dismembered Shotton's body using a hacksaw in the garden under a makeshift tent, burned parts of the body, and disposed of the remains along Bournemouth seafront, including packages found on the Manor Steps Zig Zag footpath and Shotton's torso in a suitcase in Boscombe Chine Gardens. The victim had been living in a tent in the garden and paying rent with drugs. Atkins was under the influence of drugs during the dismemberment and disposal.
Pleaded not guilty to murder but was convicted; admitted to perverting the course of justice and preventing the burial of a corpse; claimed self-defence but the judge stated the violence was extreme and his remorse was not genuine; made statements indicating no regrets and willingness to repeat the act.

Debbie Pereira, 39, was involved in covering up the murder of Simon Shotton by Benjamin Atkins at their shared flat in Aylesbury Road, Boscombe, on or around August 26, 2023. She hid during the attack, helped clean the scene which took several days, sold Shotton's mobile phone, acted as a decoy for Atkins to steal a hacksaw used to dismember the body, and assisted in disposing of the remains, leading to parts of Shotton's body never being found. The victim was a vulnerable lodger paying rent with drugs.
Acquitted of murder but convicted of perverting the course of justice; admitted to preventing the burial of a corpse; hid in her bedroom during the attack but assisted in cleaning up afterwards, selling the victim's belongings, and acting as a decoy while Atkins obtained a hacksaw.

Neil Hutton, 51, of Cheyne Way, Farnborough, was driving a blue Citroen C3 when he intentionally struck a 39-year-old man and his five-year-old daughter on Hawthorn Road on October 3, 2023. The incident began when Hutton nearly hit the pair in the Princes Mead Retail car park. As the father crossed a zebra crossing with his daughters, Hutton hit the man and one girl, knocking the daughter off her bike and throwing the father onto the bonnet. He then reversed and struck the man again before fleeing. The daughter sustained cuts and bruises, while the man was unharmed.
Pleaded guilty to attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, attempting to cause assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and dangerous driving. Detective Constable Luke Kedge described the actions as reckless and dangerous, noting the terrifying impact on the victims.

From 2016 to 2017, Matthew Myatt, while serving as director of Airbourne Aviation at Popham Airfield, groomed three children aged between 13 and 17 years. He made inappropriate comments, touched victims' chests, and on one occasion challenged a victim to flash their chest at a CCTV camera in exchange for money. The requests for images became increasingly graphic, leading to significant emotional harm for the victims.
Pleaded guilty to five counts of child sexual assault and engaging in sexual acts with children. Aggravating factors included previous child sexual convictions and abuse of a position of trust. Mitigating factors were his autism and poor health. A restraining order, Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and deprivation order for his MacBook were also imposed.

He targeted busy days such as Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Passover, possessed bomb-making manuals and gun-making instructions, shared right-wing videos and terrorist publications via Telegram, and expressed intentions to 'make Jews afraid again'. His actions were driven by an entrenched and violent neo-Nazi ideology that developed during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Pleaded guilty to five counts of possessing material likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism and five offences of sharing terrorist publications. Convicted at trial for possession of an article connected with the preparation of an act of terrorism. The judge considered him dangerous due to his entrenched neo-Nazi mindset.

Police arrested him at the house and found 9.2g of crack cocaine in 90 street packets, 9.1g of heroin in 90 street packets, £6,925 in cash, and weapons (though the weapons were not proven to belong to him). He was convicted of possession of criminal property and two breaches of suspended sentences related to driving offences and robbery.
The judge considered mitigating factors such as Gordon's age (19 at the time of the offence), his immaturity, background, and that he fell into the wrong crowd and was living alone from age 18. However, the offence was deemed serious enough to warrant a custodial sentence.

Choul Phan Maker piloted a perilously overcrowded dinghy carrying 52 migrants across the English Channel on 15 August 2023, endangering their lives as many were forced to stand on makeshift flooring. He was photographed grinning at the tiller and later arrested, admitting to the offence after evidence was gathered by investigators.
Admitted to piloting the boat after being offered the job by a criminal gang. Had previously been ordered to leave France and attempted to enter the UK multiple times.

Richard Hiscock entered the Betfred shop on London Street in Basingstoke on January 20, 2024, threatened a female staff member, and demanded money from the till. He fled the scene when another man entered the shop, and nothing was stolen. Police conducted enquiries and arrested him on January 23, 2024.
Pleaded guilty to attempted robbery. Police Sergeant Charlotte Warhurst commented that it was a frightening incident for the staff member, with no injuries, and emphasised that such criminality is taken seriously.

Samuel Rolfe, 24, of May Place, Basingstoke, set fire to pieces of cardboard at a homeless hostel on November 18, 2023. Emergency services were called, and the fire service extinguished the blaze, causing more than £4,000 worth of damage. No one was injured during the incident. He was arrested at the scene and later charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
Pleaded guilty to the offence. The fire caused more than £4,000 worth of damage. Detective Constable Natalie Gardner commented on the recklessness of the actions and the potential for worse outcomes.
