He punched him several times in the head, causing fatal head injuries. Marius was found injured on Goresbrook Road, Dagenham, at about 23:55hrs and pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency services attendance. Janavicius initially lied to police, claiming they had been attacked by a group of six to eight men.

A number of mobile phones, electronic scales and an EncroChat device were also found. Over £129,000 in cash was recovered from Guest’s home address and two hydraulic press machines from a linked address.

He was observed on camera on 22 November 2018 carrying two large bags into a Bexley property, which police raided and found large sums of cash hidden in secret compartments, including £9,490, £79,188.70, and €301,400. High purity cocaine and £1,320 in cash were discovered at his home, and €45,190 was found hidden in his vehicle. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

On 12 May 2021, specialist Met officers witnessed Brydges meet Harry Simmons and pass him £9,000 in cash, which Simmons took to Gravesend to meet lorry driver Milos Stevanovic. Brydges was arrested at his Basildon address after jumping from a first floor window to escape.

Harry Simmons, 31, of Parkside, Basildon, Essex, was involved in a conspiracy to import 157 kilograms of Class A controlled drugs valued at £14,000,000. On 12 May 2021, he received £9,000 in cash from Harry Brydges and took it to Gravesend where he met lorry driver Milos Stevanovic. Simmons and Stevanovic were arrested unloading 37 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and 35 kilograms of MDMA crystals from a lorry that had just entered the UK.

On 17 May, Hamza Haddadi was stopped at Leytonstone underground station during a drug dog operation. Officers discovered the handle of a large hunting knife in his hooded top. When train doors opened, he attempted to flee and elbowed Sergeant David Johns in the face, knocking off his glasses. After a struggle, he was arrested and a smaller switchblade knife was found in his trousers. He was convicted of assaulting emergency workers, possession of offensive weapons, and criminal damage.
The court acknowledged the bravery of the officers. Haddadi elbowed Sergeant David Johns in the face during the struggle.

A former Metropolitan Police officer has been sentenced to suspended prison terms after admitting to serious sexual offences involving indecent images of children. Grant Thomas, aged 40, who served as a police constable in the force’s training division, pleaded guilty to multiple counts related to the creation, distribution, and possession of such material. The case came to light following Thomas's arrest in March 2017. He faced two separate indictments: the first comprising three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of publishing an obscene article; the second including two counts of distributing the images, two counts of making them, and one count of possessing extreme pornographic images. The images in his possession ranged from the most severe category A material, which depicts penetrative sexual activity, bestiality, and sadism, to less severe category C content. At Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, August 4, 2017, the judge imposed an 18-month suspended sentence for the first indictment and a two-year suspended sentence for the second, with both suspensions lasting two years.

In July 2015, Ian Shingler caused the evacuation of around 300 residents from the Orchard Village estate in Rainham after telling police he had explosives and intended to harm himself. Officers found a destroyed oven door, remnants of a homemade explosive device, a kilogram of TATP at 82% purity, an improvised explosive device powered by a nine-volt battery, bomb-making instructions, and a suicide note. He had also been arrested earlier for possession of child sexual abuse images. Nearly 100 officers responded to the scene. In 2016 he was sentenced to nine years at Snaresbrook Crown Court for the four offences.

He threatened to kill another victim, sending images of firearms, and demanded she travel to London for sex or face distribution of images. City of London Police investigated his contact with a 17-year-old, offering £60,000 to meet at a hotel; he met her but refused to pay. He was arrested on 21 October 2022 and pleaded guilty to paying for sexual services of a child, causing sexual exploitation of a child, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, making indecent photographs of a child, and threats to kill.

In November 2017, James Davis conspired with others to smuggle four Vietnamese males (aged 14, 15, 16 and 23) across the English Channel in an inflatable boat. He and Christian King scouted launch points near Dymchurch and Hastings. On 7 November 2017, Davis took the boat from Dymchurch to Boulogne, collected the four individuals, and returned to land near Folkestone. The boat was in a dangerous condition, lacking safety equipment and with a battery positioned next to the fuel tank, risking explosion. Police stopped the vehicle on the M20 and made arrests. Davis pleaded guilty.

Jay Jay Victor-Junior Alexander, 19, of Leyton, attacked three teenage girls aged 13, 14, and 15 in a disused changing room block at Ive Farm Close running track on 25 January. He held a 13-year-old girl against her will after she rejected his advances, subjecting her to a violent sexual assault. The offences included rape and other serious sexual and non-sexual crimes. The victims' testimony was crucial in securing convictions at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Jeffrey Gadsden, 60, defrauded over 100 people who paid his company – Walker Professional Property Services, based in East London – to manage their investment properties. One client lost £90,000 from a personal pension plan. Most of the victims were owners of one or a small number of units within blocks, who combined to form private companies and hired Gadsden to manage the properties. The firm, also trading as Charterhouse Professional Property Services, went into liquidation in spring 2013 with debts of up to £754,000.
Convicted after defrauding over 100 people. Described by a judge as 'nothing but a conman.' Most of the money was used to pay Gadsden’s debts.
Jeffrey Shing-Lok Leung

On 18 December 2018, at 11am, Jeffrey Shing-lok Leung launched a violent knife rampage at a Bow GP surgery armed with four knives bought online. He slashed a man in his 30s across the neck as he entered Tredegar Practice, then lunged at others in the waiting area, stabbing another man in his 30s in the chest and stomach. Patients fought back with chairs and barricaded themselves. Leung fled to nearby St Stephens Health Centre, where he stabbed a woman in her 70s multiple times in the neck, chest, and hand, and another woman in her 50s suffered wounds to her hand and chest. A receptionist called 999. Leung then calmed, sat in the waiting room, dropped his knives, and waited for police to arrest him.
Leung had no previous police record but suffered from severe mental health disorders. He calmed after the attacks, dropped his knives, and waited for police.
John Bancroft

John Bancroft used apps such as MyLol to make fake accounts and offer 'sugar daddy' arrangements to target vulnerable girls aged between 13 and 18 from 2016 to 2017. He posed as younger, offered money, food, or gifts for sexual acts including sadomasochistic acts and group sex, sent up to 100 WhatsApp messages a day, drove victims to remote areas, took and shared indecent images. His brother Graham Manicom met some victims for sex on two occasions.
Pleaded guilty prior to trial to causing actual bodily harm against a child during sexual activity and 14 counts of taking, possessing, and distributing indecent images of children. In the second week of trial, pleaded guilty to a further 15 offences including paying for the sexual services of a child, causing or inciting the sexual exploitation of a child, and attempted sexual communication with a child. Found guilty of four counts of rape, meeting a child following sexual grooming, paying for the sexual services of a child, attempting, causing or inciting the sexual exploitation of a child, and attempting sexual communication with a child.

Fred Truman, along with his son Omar Truman, approached Jordan Lovett’s address on Grange Road, E13, on 8 February 2021 carrying a supermarket bag which was handed over. Following the exchange, police conducted a stop and search on the Trumans who were found in possession of three bags containing 58 knives, including machetes, combat and lock knives. Both men were arrested as part of an investigation into knives being sold on social media.

Gael Ikobonga, a Tenancy Services Manager for a housing company leasing properties for a charity, marked several flats in a Canning Town block as 'returned to landlord' (not occupied), then sub-let them privately, taking rent payments into his personal bank account using company-headed paper. He lived rent-free in one flat with his girlfriend for two years. Rent payments from four properties received between January 2016 and November 2018, totalling around £100,000.

Gary Rice, a former police property officer, was arrested following a warrant executed at an address in Barking on 13 November 2023. Officers found indecent images of children. He pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children. The judge imposed nine months' imprisonment on each count, to run concurrently and suspended for two years. Rice was also made subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and required to comply with notification requirements for 10 years.

Edgaras Sneideris, 40, of Thomas Cribb Mews, Newham, left a threatening voicemail for his ex-partner on 5 April 2020, saying he would “beat her up” and “cut her head off”. Three days later he broke into her home and attacked her, punching and kicking her while threatening to kill her. He returned at midnight on 9 April and assaulted her again. A housemate later told police that on 5 April Sneideris had moved a pink scarf-wrapped single-barrel sawn-off shotgun from the victim’s home into his car. When police searched the car they found two sawn-off shotguns wrapped in cloth. A search of his home uncovered around 40 cannabis plants and growing equipment. Sneideris denied the assaults but admitted holding the guns and growing cannabis, claiming the guns were someone else’s. The victim and housemate were rehoused with panic alarms.
Pleaded guilty to possession of firearms, assault, threats to kill, cannabis cultivation, and malicious communications.

The following month, he threatened the victim at knifepoint for money. In January 2020, he again threatened to attack and stab the victim if he did not hand over money. The victim, supported by care workers and police, bravely provided a statement and identified Obue. Clothing seized during his arrest matched the victim's description, leading to charges of robbery and blackmail.

Martin Crean

Martin Crean unlawfully tampered with electronic monitoring tags of 37 tagged offenders between 2015 and 2017, including after his arrest in January 2017 while on bail. He reset tags using EMS fitting tools (including serial number 10416) away from offenders' home addresses after they were cut off, deleting tamper records and refixing them before curfew checks. This was done in exchange for money, allowing offenders to commit acquisitive and drug-related crimes without detection. The scheme was uncovered after a tagged suspect was absent during a curfew check in November 2016 despite tag data showing compliance.
Pleaded guilty to 34 counts on 19 January 2020 and a further four counts in August 2018. Abused position while working with Capita Electronic Monitoring Systems by unlawfully tampering with electronic tags using EMS fitting tools.

She recced the convenience store in Mawney Road, Romford prior to the armed robbery on 2 January 2022 and drove the getaway vehicle. Purchased the BMW four days before the delivery van robbery. Arrested in February 2022.

Officers found stolen items from both burglaries at addresses linked to him.

Linden Crick entered Plashet Park, E6, at around 17:00hrs on Tuesday, 2 February in the company of an unknown male. On an e-scooter, he approached a group of seven males, engaged in conversation then demanded their phones, intimated possession of acid by showing a drinks bottle. Some fled; he ordered others to leave. He then approached a 17-year-old male exercising, demanded his phone and squirted an acidic substance (sulphuric acid) in the victim's face, causing burn injuries requiring hospital treatment. Crick fled on e-scooter. Bottle recovered from park confirmed sulphuric acid. Arrested 22 April following investigation.
Found guilty following trial at the same court on 7 October 2021. Judge removed previous order preventing naming due to age.

Manjinder Virdi, a former finance officer at the British Society of Echocardiography, embezzled over £200,000 from his employer between 2015 and 2019. From February to May 2019 he stole just over £53,000. The charity was alerted after receiving a warning email from its bank, which Virdi initially claimed was a scam. Officers deployed to Lovett’s address on Grange Road, E13, at around 14:50hrs on 8 February 2021. Lovett received a bag from Fred and Omar Truman, then emerged with Loishana McKenzie and a 17-year-old male carrying bags which were handed over. A subsequent Section 8 search warrant at the address found 70 knives, empty packaging and shipment boxes addressed to Lovett. Evidence of weapons marketing found on his phone. Total 128 weapons recovered.
Pleaded guilty to the unlawful marketing of knives and possession of criminal property (£585 cash). Sentences to run concurrently.
John Tomlin
Grievous bodily harm with intent *

On the morning of 21 June 2017, John Tomlin got into a heated argument with a 37-year-old man near Tollgate Road in Newham, London. When the man returned to his car, Tomlin hurled a corrosive liquid through the passenger window, striking a 21-year-old woman inside and causing severe burns. He then ran around and threw more acid through the driver's window, temporarily blinding the man. The driver attempted to flee but crashed after being disoriented. Both victims required plastic surgery and ongoing treatment. Tomlin was arrested weeks later after handing himself in, having lived rough in Epping Forest.
Pleaded guilty to two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent. The acid used was described as powerful as hydrochloric acid, melting parts of the car interior. Minimum two-thirds term to serve before licence period applies.
Henry Dunn
Conspiracy to facilitate unlawful entry *

In November 2017, Henry Dunn conspired with others to smuggle four Vietnamese males (aged 14, 15, 16 and 23) across the English Channel in an inflatable boat. He maintained contact with Christian King while King and James Davis scouted launch points near Dymchurch and Hastings. On 7 November 2017, Davis took the boat from Dymchurch to Boulogne, collected the four individuals, and returned to land near Folkestone. The boat was in a dangerous condition, lacking safety equipment and with a battery positioned next to the fuel tank, risking explosion. Police stopped the vehicle on the M20 and made arrests. Dunn denied involvement but was convicted after a retrial.

Part of a group that kidnapped a man in his 20s from Bethnal Green on 28-29 February 2020 over a money dispute. Dragged victim from car, arranged transport to Nottingham, demanded £200,000 ransom via phone.
Denied the offences but was convicted following a two-week trial on 30 July 2021. Additional convictions for perverting the course of justice (witness intimidation) and three counts of possession of Class A and B drugs.
Kristian Agolli
Conspiracy to breach UK immigration law *

Member of a people-smuggling ring that transported Albanian men illegally into the UK concealed in lorries. Agolli’s role was to meet the vehicles at south-east England motorway services and take charge of the migrants after they were hidden inside the cabs. The conspiracy ran from January to May 2021.

Conspiracy to supply Class A drugs *

Julian Warner was involved in an organised crime network supplying large amounts of Class A drugs, including 2.5kgs of cocaine and 2.5kgs of heroin, to North East London and surrounding counties. He was identified as the sole user of two EncroChat phones between April and June 2020. Evidence showed he arranged large-scale drug deals, made a £20,000 payment for drugs, and directed others to collect and deliver drugs. Police raided his Romford address in March 2023, seizing high-value watches and a phone linking to EncroChat data.
Pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply a Class A drug (cocaine), conspiracy to supply a Class A drug (heroin), and conspiracy to possess criminal property (money).
Kevin Kombi
Breaching a Sexual Risk Order *

Kevin Kombi, 29, from Basildon, Essex, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 31 March 2023 after admitting three breaches of a Sexual Risk Order (SRO) imposed in July 2019. He harassed and manipulated women online by contacting them through social media and falsely claiming that he or someone else had had sex with them, in order to engineer meetings, causing significant harassment, alarm and distress. The first breach occurred on 29 July 2021 when he used false information to arrange a meeting. Two further breaches occurred in October and November 2022: failing to notify police of a new mobile phone within the required time, and failing to make the phone immediately available when officers attended to arrest him on 14 November 2022. He was charged on 25 November 2022. In addition to the prison sentence, he was added to the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely and a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed to prohibit further harassment of women.
Pleaded guilty to three breaches of a Sexual Risk Order. Also added to the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely and a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposed.
Kevin Smith
Rape and assault by penetration *

Kevin Smith, also known as Ian Dormer, of Edwin Street, Canning Town, East London, E16, carried out a series of horrific sexual attacks on a vulnerable woman over several years, beginning in January 2016 with the last offence in July 2021. The victim disclosed the abuse to mental health services staff, who alerted police. Smith was arrested on 24 July 2021. His phone revealed a disturbing search history related to rape and other sexual offences, and a search of his address showed plans to flee, including removing furniture and packing belongings.
Pleaded guilty to 18 counts of rape and assault by penetration. Will serve six years on licence on release.
